March 15, Year Unknown

The breeze rustled through Joan of Arc’s short dark hair as she looked up the long slope towards the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. She knew it as The Origin. The building had stood there long before the Greeks discovered it in the 7th century BCE. Fire and earthquakes threatened to demolish the building but to no avail. Only thousands of years had caused a few pieces of the structure to fall. Yet, its power remains.

Joan hated coming to...

Conversations with a Christian Part 2

Do you feel, forgiveness should be mandatory regardless of the how horrible the maltreatment imposed on you by others? Would the world be better off if we all sought vengeance?

To answer your first, question, what would it take me to gain faith, I think the answer is simple enough: solid evidence. Or rather, I don’t think that I could have faith, per se, but rather I require something more firm. Like a visit from the big guy. Otherwise, to me, he is a cosmic teapot, which should be explained....

Conversations with a Christian Part I

Vernita, this is a surprising interview, to say the least. We're onopposite sides of the religious spectrum. Your book, Capturing theSpirit of God's Word with Vernita, is a thoughtful exposition of embracing God's work. My book, Operation Cosmic Teapot, is a satirical look at how God is ultimately powerless in this world. How do yourespond to people like me?

March 15, 2018 CE

Pain rippled through Caesar’s head like a hot ice pick through the eye. Light blinded him as he tried to remain standing, only to collapse on the ground. Nausea overwhelmed him. He rolled to his side then threw up. People passed by him, shaking their heads, thinking that he was some drunk sullying the streets.

Consciousness tried to escape Caesar; he fought to stay awake, despite how difficult it was. Every cell in his body ached as if the...

1 - The Julian Calendar

I'm going to post the entire manuscript to my new work, The Julian Calendar -- one part at a time. It's only a second draft, so mistakes will be made. But it's going to be fun!

The Ides of March

March 15, 44 BCE

Gaius Julius Caesar stood in front of the squabbling senators. They weren’t arguing over anything of value; it was just noise. How he wished those fat patricians would shut up so that he could be done with the day’s business. He wanted to get back to last night’s adventure of playing...

How I Turned an Idea into a Book

written by: Tia Mitsis This time last year, I was browsing the books at a book fair, looking for some great bargains. I wasn’t particularly thinking about writing – my first book was coming out in March 2015. I was not thinking of writing something new. As I browsed the travel section, I picked up the books about Greece. It’s my heritage, so holds a special interest. I love to go there and love to see it written about in books. All the books were either travel guides or were fictional storie...

Maree's Review

Here is Maree's review of Operation Cosmic Teapot, as posted on Goodreads:

Maree Rated it 5 stars

Such an amazing book this was. This book promoting a complete humorist satire of God, who is a Psychiatric patient who is dealing with his whole existence in this world.

This book also blended with other Philosophers such as Nietzsche and Freud. Their discussions were about the World and the other Gods and the eternal life of us all!

I loved this book. Dylan Callens is a refreshing new author, and...

An Interview with Mercedes

What made you decide to sit down and actually start something? I wrote a novel while in university. It was terrible, though. One idea from that book stuck with me, which was this idea that God couldn’t perform miracles because he was too busy with paper work. I shelved that idea for a long time. Then, about six years ago, I was teaching a philosophy course. I was teaching Nietzsche’sMadmanparable when the line, “God is dead” smacked me. I thought about how it would be amusing if Nietzsche was...

Library of Erana Interview

Please tell us a little about your writing – for example genre, title, etc.My novel is called Operation Cosmic Teapot. The title is derived from Bertrand Russell’s analogy of a teapot floating in space, which represents that the burden of proof lies on a person making a philosophic claim. In particular, he says that those believing in a god need to provide evidence.

Amazon Review #3

5.0 out of 5 starsthe search for purpose in life and beyond has been dealt with brilliantly where God Himself is a psychiatric patient under Freud,December 29, 2015 By MA This review is from:Operation Cosmic Teapot (Kindle Edition) Operation Cosmic Teapot by Dylan Callens is a satire and bittersweet projection of existentialism which denotes that life basically brews in a teacup and that is the end of it. In this allegory, the search for purpose in life and beyond has been dealt with brilliantly where God...
