I hail from a family of artists. My (late) mom was a singer, my (late) dad was an expert cuisinier, my (late)sister was a music teacher, and my brothers are professional violinists. They formed “The Fernandes String Quartet” which plays classical-western music, and are a part of The Madras Chamber Orchestra and the Cinefield.

Brought up in such an atmosphere, it was only natural that I’d want to excel too, but my flair for languages took me down another road. I studied and mastered French, went on to do a Business English Higher, and then began with Italian and Spanish. But French was my first love.

Throughout this journey, I had a very exciting hobby: creating love stories. I’d find romance in everything, and I’d lose myself in the magic wor I hail from a family of artists. Throughout this journey, I had a very exciting hobby: creating love stories. I’d find romance in everything, and I’d lose myself in the magic world of perfection. I’d scribble away about all those “encounters”, innocent as they were, and find that I was happy when I wrote. Hence began this idea of becoming an author.

But having an idea and putting that idea to a task are two different things. It needed discipline, determination, persistence, perseverance, hard work, and sheer belief in oneself and God.

I began with short stories and found I had an audience among my school and college mates. But nothing exciting happened until 2013. Rupa Publication ran a nation-wide romance writing contest, and my short story “JILTED” was chosen by Best Selling author Anuja Chauhan, and was published in an anthology, An Atlas of Love.
In the meantime, I met my Frenchman and fell in love and got married. Only it didn’t happen so smoothly. And that’s how the idea of The French Encounter began. “What would happen if an Indian woman fell in love with a Frenchman?”
Well, it’s been five years now since my first novel, The French Encounter and after a few shorts: Somewhere Over the Rainbow, One Night with You, I have now published my second novel, Visa to Paradise, a psychospiritual romantic thriller.
