Simple tips to declutter, organize and clean your home

My biggest problem in trying to declutter and organize my home is that I’m the MAIN person in my house that does MOST of it. At times, in my selfish ways, I won’t do something in my house because of how I felt. By me doing this, I’m hurting myself, family and eventually my household. I had to get out of my selfish mentality and realize that I’m the manager of this home, I stay home to be a HELP-MATE to my husband and keeping the house clean is one of my priorities, in helping my family.

SpringInspiration

I want to share with you, some ways you can help make it easy to declutter, organize and clean your home.

1- Tell God how you feel (Pray)

2- Watch Videos on decluttering on Youtube (Examples below).

3- Read books, do research on decluttering, cleaning and organization. The tips I will be sharing with you today, come from experience and a book by Elise Callender, from RichlyRooted.com, called: Your simple home handbook (30 projects to help your home breathe).

So, I started with my two biggest projects in my home, Which we’re my laundry room and Garage. These two places we’re like storage areas in my home and I couldn’t take it anymore. I wanted to get a hold on these areas, organize it, declutter and clean. Below are some tips, I’ve used that have helped me in doing just that. I start out by talking about my Laundry room and Garage, but, these tips can apply and work in ANY area in your home.

Laundry Room:

1- Work with the space you have

2- Designate items in the room

3- Decorate with something pretty

4- Throw away items you haven’t used in months

5- Make a space for laundry supplies

6- Create an area for your iron and ironing board

7- Make your own laundry detergent

Here’s a video and some tips on Organizing your Laundry room.

Garage/Attic:

1- Most items in your should be used frequently

2- If you are not going to use it within the year, either throw it away, or give it away, it is important to you?

3- Main Items to keep in your garage/attic:

– Memory Keepsakes

– Christmas Decorations

– Camping supplies

4- Start with one or two boxes at a time

5- Things to throw away…

– Items that doesn’t have a place in your home

– If you haven’t seen or used it since 2003, throw it away (unless its a keepsake)

– If it’s broken throw it away.

– Books that are not on your shelf, more than likely you won’t read it. Do some book editing and take it to the thrift store.

Here’s a video on tips on Organizing your Garage.

Effective Cleaning in your home:

I know for me, there’s an Idea I have in my head to getting my house feel and look clean. As a stay-at-home-mom and entrepreneur, I’ve learned to clean effectively and in less time without having to spend hours in one room and getting the whole house cleaned

1- Start at the top and work your way from left to right

2- Start with a strategy. If dusting start from the top, meaning high places before doing anything else. If dusting is done. Start with mirrors wiping down using a Microfiber cloth. This can be done with any area of the house, start from the top and work your way left to right to the bottom.

3- Deleagate chores in the home. Both of my two oldest children have responsibilities they have each day in the home. One take care of the upstairs and the other, take care of downstairs.

076: So, you want to be an entrepreneur? Here are 7 tips to help you get started

Purpose Driven Wife Podcast

I wanted to share a few things with you in my Journey of doing business God’s way as a mother, wife, entrepreneur and everything in between. I wanted to share some tips to those who are starting out in doing business, here are a few things you should know…

Entreprenuer

1- Are you Faithful, right now, in your current season?

Before starting that business, did God instruct you to do some other things before starting something new? Do that first and then see what God has for you next.

2- What is your motive? You want to check your heart before stepping into something new. Are you chasing money? I talk more about this in my book: S.M.A.R.T. Goals for the Christian Entrepreneur.

3- Is it a good idea or God idea? Are you chasing after opportunities that seem like a good idea? Before doing anything else Ask God first.

4- Don’t Quit. I talk about this in my book as well and If God directed you in the business you are in now, and you know without a shadow of doubt that you are to stick in this business, Don’t quit.

5- Read books. Once you get your degree in a particular subject doesn’t mean you stop learning. You read to keep developing yourself and learning more everyday.

6- Research. Before stepping into an opportunity, do your research, pray to God, talk to wise counsel about it.

7- Surround yourself with positive people. You don’t want to hang around those that are negative and want to bring you down but those who want you to succeed and that are positive.

A lot of the tips I wrote about in this post is from experience, A LOT of it was mistakes and moments where I feel flat on my face. I definitely learned from them and here is the wisdom, I would share with someone, if they would’ve ask me, what kind of advice I would give them when starting a business in doing it God’s way.

So, the idea is to allow God to be God in your business. There is no need for the stress, the frustration or even confusion on what to do, when you do things God’s way it is so much easier and less stress. My book as well talk about this in more detail, if you would like more information.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (amp) “Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart, And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”

Food Shopping at ALDI

This post was sponsored by ALDI as part of Influencer Activation for Influence Central.

I went to my local ALDI opening here in California and let me tell you, my shopping experience will never be the same. I’m use to having to decide which brand of foods will be a good choice for myself and family but after shopping at ALDI, they already figured that out for me. I have so many AWESOME things about ALDI  to tell you guys and I’m so excited to share my experience.

Food Shopping16

About ALDI

ALDI operates more than 1,500 US stores in 33 states. More than 32 million customers each month save up to 50% on their grocery bills (Based upon a price comparison of comparable products sold at leading national retail grocery stores).

ALDI is so confident in the quality of its products, the company offers a double guarantee: If for any reason a customer is not 100 percent satisfied with any ALDI food product, ALDI will gladly replace the product and refund the purchase price.

ALDI was honored with 2015 Supermarket News Retail Achievement Award, recognizing the company for its ongoing business expansion and product evolution.

ALDI1

My Experience:

I LOVED it. I needed to get a few things for my kid’s school trip they were going on in a few days, So, this was a perfect time to check out the new ALDI that was opening up in my area. When my kids and I arrived, I’m used to seeing shopping carts in the parking lot, blocking parking space and hanging around the area, but, When we arrived at ALDI, I noticed I had to put a quarter into the shopping cart corral to get one and was so happy to do so because it kept the parking lot clear of shopping carts, no more shopping carts bumping into my car. Then once I was done, I can get my quarter returned once I replaced the shopping cart, I thought this was brilliant!

When we made it inside, I was expecting to see many aisles of food stocked with all kinds of different brands to choose from, but when I got there, it was a small, aisle supermarket, something I’m not used to but at the same time, was VERY happy to see, with my usual shopping time of 2 hours, I was out of their in 30 minutes! Here’s what you can expect at your local ALDI:

ALDI21

My ALDI Haul + Meal Plan (Download a Meal Plan Template FREE!)

Italian Chicken

BBQ Chicken

Shrimp Alfredo

Salmon Patties and Fries

Spaghetti and Meatballs with Veggies

What to know before you go:

ALDI stores are smaller than traditional supermarkets. This gives them the opportunity to choose and test, in their ALDI test kitchen to make sure the food quality and taste is just as good, if not better, than the national brands. Shoppers will find fresh meat, bread, diary, produce and household items priced up to 50% less than other traditional grocery stores.

ALDI also cut down on labor cuts by not paying someone to bag groceries, you can bring your own bag or you can purchase theirs for a few cents.

ALDI offers its SimplyNature line which includes USDA Certified organic and Non-GMO verified items, liveGfree gluten-free products, USDA Choice meats and NeverAny! products that are free from added antibiotics, hormones and animal by-products.

When I continued my shopping after being blown away at the small aisles, the low prices, the friendly customers service and the ALDI bags had for sell says: “This bag has skills! Used to be a water bottle, now carries food from ALDI!” It’s 60% Recycled Material and 100% Recyclable! I LOVE how customer focused ALDI is, as a company. The produce was VERY Affordable and I stocked up!!!

Purpose Driven Wife Podcast

In this episode, I talk with Heather from the blog onlypassionatecuriosity.com, where she shares her own testimony of why she started homeschooling her kids. I myself have been doing a lot of research on homeschooling and I don’t even know where to start. I’m thinking of starting it with my youngest daughter and before doing this interview I was overwhelmed about the amount of information needed to get started, do I need to join a co-op? What is a co-op? what about the laws when it came to homeschooling? is it different at each state? If so, How different? etc. I had so many questions. After talking with heather, my questions were answered and I walked away not feeling overwhelmed, but confident that I can take this on. Which is what I shared on the podcast.

Listen for more information about the freedom to school in the military and how fun it can be. She even talked about how you can have you can even have time for yourself and spouse!

To the animal lover at heart-ASPCA kids: Rescue Readers #studiofun #momsmeet

Disclaimer: I received this product for free from the sponsor of the Moms Meet program, May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms Meet blogger, I agree to use this product and post my opinion on my blog. My opinions do not reflect the opinions of May Media Group LLC or the manufacturer of this product.

My youngest daughter LOVES animals. Dogs and cats to be specific. She loves to watch dogs and cats on the television and loves to pet them, when she gets a chance. As a mom of a very active toddler, that loves animals, finding resources to help cater to the animal lover inside, that would hold her attention span and educate her at the same time, is a MAJOR PLUS in my book. ASPCA kids: Rescue Readers Book series does just that. When looking at the bright colors, pictures and shapes, she is learning. Each book creates a fun and educational hands-on experience written at a Level 2 reading level for early readers.

I LOVE that each story is inspired by a real-life animal rescue story from the pet’s point of view and includes facts and photographs, of the actual pet that inspired the story. Whenever she see’s a cat or dog, she will point it out and say the name. Which I LOVE. She is, already, very attentive and already has a love for animals. The stories in the book also share, the importance of care, protection, and love of animals and is incorporated into each tale with a focus on the joyous outcome.

The biggest PLUS for me in reading these books with my child, is the impact that this company is making. Four to five percent of the purchase price of every book goes directly to the ASPCA to help continue its mission. Studio Fun International, a Reader’s Digest company, has teamed up with the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), the first animal welfare organization in North America and the nation’s leading voice for animals. More than two million supporters strong, the ASPCA’s mission is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States. As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, the ASPCA is a national leader in the areas of anti-cruelty, community outreach and animal health services. The price of each book is very inexpensive. The story books are available in paperback, library binding hardcovers, and e-books. The paperback books are priced at $3.99 (each) or $15.96 (for all four) everywhere books are sold.

I know you will love these educational, fun stories as much as we did. If you would like more information about supporting the ASPCA’s mission or about the books, you can visit them at:

The Heart of a homemaker

When I first became a mom, I had no idea what I was getting into, especially as a first time mom of twins. I grew up in a home where my mom was single, with three children she was raising herself. I didn’t have much growing up but I learned a lot watching  my mother turn nothing into something for her family. I had a dream, that I saw myself walking in downtown Manhattan with a skirt suit, brief case, in heels walking inside of a fortune 500 company, having children was not in my plan at all. I went to college, worked two jobs, living on my own working towards this dream.

The heart of homemaking

Then one day I took a trip to meet up with a friend, met my, now, husband, fast forward the details and now I’m a new mom, pregnant with twins. I had no kind of training in taking care of children or even knowing how to manage a home. What drew me, was when I heard a preacher on TV talking about the scripture Proverbs 31. At the time I wasn’t a believer but I believe God used this preacher to draw my heart into learning more about Jesus Christ.

As I began to learn through a lot of mistakes, trial and error, putting things into practice, through the years I really began to see myself as the woman in Proverbs 31. I’m not saying, I’m doing everything perfect but my heart is to be what God has created me to be as a wife, mom, entrepreneur and everything in between.

I just finished an interview on the podcast with Erin from the Humbled Homemaker and she shared some amazing stories, testimonies and tips about homemaking that really encouraged me. I encourage you to differently check  it out because I know it will encourage you as well.

My main point in writing this post is to share with you, what the true, biblical meaning of having the heart of a homemaker. Proverbs 31:10-31, shares what it looks like to have a heart of a homemaker. She manages the home but the key thing, she does that makes her successful and sets her apart from other women, is what verse 30 says, “… A woman that FEARS THE LORD is to be praise.” Just by reading this verse, the testimony of her husband, children and her actions is that she has a heart for the Lord.

I’ve had to learn some hard lessons in the 10+ years of being married and raising my children. I’m learning that in the mist of me being the main manager of the home, that I have to do what works for my family and it may-be different then the woman next to me. I had to learn that the atmosphere of my home started with me, I had to learn to decide what kind of atmosphere did I want my husband and children walking into.

I choose, a Christ centered, peaceful, loving, teaching, relaxing, joy filled home but it starts with me acting this out. I don’t always have it all together but part of having a heart for the Lord is allowing God to be God in your home, marriage, in raising your children, in your business and everything in between.

It will look different from what others are doing but You must do what will work for your home and family.

None like God- 10 ways God is different from us

Now its weird for me to write that GOD is different from me, because, in my mind, God is God, there is no comparison to me being God. After reading this book, I realize, in me living my life I sometimes, try to control things like I’m God and I’m not.

None like Him

This book gives a real eye opener to how we can act, in our own rebellion and try to act like God. It was very convicting and at the same time help me understand myself more as I live my life.

Jen Wilkins is the author of this book and writes, “Our limitations are by design. We were never meant to be God. But at the root of every sin is our rebellious desire to possess attributes that belong to God alone.

In the book she writes why its Ok to embrace our limitations and when we embrace our limitations and celebrate the freedom that comes with allowing God to be God in our lives.

As a wife and a mother of three children, this is the very lesson I am learning in my current season. Allowing God to be God in my marriage, I can’t control my husband and make him do what I want him to do. My husband is his own person and I need to get out of the way and allow God to be God to my husband and marriage. The same goes for my children, my children are growing up and starting to act like teenagers. Heading into the stage, where they think they know everything, attitudes, rollings eyes, talking back, etc. season is upon me (Help Me Jesus!). Especially during this season, I NEED God to be God in my children’s lives.

I need God ALL THE TIME. So, I ask myself… Why am I trying to act like God and try to take God’s job when I obviously need Him in my life to give me strength, wisdom and a peace of mind to navigate this thing called life.

Jen writes, God is self-existent, self-sufficient, eternal, immutable, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, sovereign, infinite, and incomprehensible. I am differently none of those things and that’s a good thing. What I also love is the deep, thought provoking questions after each chapter that will help you grow in your relationship with God.

I have a God that is all that and then some! If you want to learn and grow in your walk with God, I am doing a giveaway and all you need to do is comment below and you will be entered to win this book. This giveaway will end May 15, 2016.
