A Die Hard Prequel?! No. Just No.

Do you see how simple this first film was?

Do you see how simple this first film was?

Seriously, does Hollywood want to ruin everything that is right with moviesnowadays by barfing out a reboot that makes no sense at all? Die Hardand its’ two decent sequels represented one of the greatest franchises that came out of the late ’80s and early ’90s. It was a perfect blend of every-man action with semi-plausible threats… at least until the franchise was tarnished with a meh Live Free or Die Hard and theabomination known as A Good Day to Di...

Dear Television Networks, Stop It With The Misdirecting Promos!

This one is going to be very short and very simple. A lot of shows on the Big Four (CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox) are guilty of using false marketing tactics to misdirect people about the next episode of a show, whether it is new or old. One such example can be found above with the new show from NBC called The Player, where no narrative structure even exists to convince an audience that Cassandra might shoot Alex Kane.

This may be a minor thing, but it gets to be really funny (and stupid) when you...

ABC’s Quantico Is An Epic Disaster.

Someone. Please stop this thing.

Someone. Please stop this thing.

This one is a hold-over from premiere week last week, but I was going to run with it anyway because it seemed like an interesting idea at the time.Quanticowas pitched as a supposed mystery/crime series where FBI Agent Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra) is trying to decipher who caused a terrorist attack on New York’s Grand Central Station, which is thought to be an inside job that was done by her or one of her fellow trainees back at the FBI Academy in Quantico, V...

If You Want To Make Music, Learn From Florence & The Machine.

OH MY GOD! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR HAAAANDS?!

OH MY GOD! WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOUR HAAAANDS?!

This one is going to be a short one, but I am certain that you’ll get the point. While I may not write or play music, I am an avid listener of almost all genres of music. It can be a great way to relax and party, but every once in a while a band comes along that really sets itself apart from the mainstream. For the sake of this case study, I will use the English rock band Florence & the Machine, as it exemplifies a form of music that is all too rar...

Premiere Week – The Player

The best new show of 2015 just arrived. Seriously.

The best new show of 2015 just arrived. Seriously.

Have you ever thought that you just knew crime dramas and that nothing could ever surprise you anymore? I certainly did with this look into Premiere Week for the Fall 2015 season. Fortunately, NBC has got one hell of a thrill ride that mixes things up spectacularly. Ladies and gentlemen, buckle your seatbelts because it is time to take a look atThe Player.

Premiere Week: Rosewood

Fucking hell. Here we go again.

Fucking hell. Here we go again.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first police proceduralof the Fall 2015 season.Rosewood is one of those shows that tries to work with a fairly uncommon setting (Miami) and the murder cases of the area. Unfortunately, the genre has been cluttered with so much of the same old thing for the past fifteen years that it screams for something different. IsRosewoodthe type of show that will fulfill that need?

Fuck no.

The Characters

I'm annoying. I like to be totally obnoxious and unrelatable. We make a great team, don't we?

Premiere Week: Scream Queens

Make no mistake. This show is a winner.

Make no mistake. This show is a winner.

Have you ever wanted to watch a show that is little more than a horror movie cliche? Are you entertained by the fact that you’re going to look forward to seeing half of the cast of a movie die in hilarious ways? Are you looking for something that is not to be taken seriously at all? If so, have I got a show for you.

It’s calledScream Queens, and it’s a horror lover’s treat.

The Characters

Die, cast, die!

Premiere Week – Blindspot

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a new action star.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a new action star.

Blindspot recently premiered on NBC to a lot of fanfare, especially since it has a lot going for it moving into the fall season. Sure, it has a lot of star power and well-crafted advertising, but is it a great show? Is it one of those pieces of televisionthat could make you want to come back again and again?

You’d better believe it is.

The Characters

Welcome to Network TV, Mr. Stapleton. You glorious bastard, you.

The Bastard Executioner Is Interesting But Flawed.

Just enough sympathy to carry the show.

Just enough sympathy and love to carry the show.

In case you’ve been living under a rock,The Bastard Executionerrecently premiered on FX to some fanfare in the mainstream entertainment media. The drama, set in the High Middle Ages, follows Wilkin Brattle (Lee Jones), a former English soldier who is called by a divine messenger to live as a journeyman executioner in 14th century Wales. The series deals with Wilkin’s turn to a group of rebels that are fighting against the crushing taxes imposed...

An Analysis Of Mad Max: Fury Road

No one can say that this movie doesn’t look good, but…

Mad Max: Fury Road was one of those action films that I missed over the summer, mainly because I thought I would have to see the original three before I went into the theater. Since then, I have learned that it was a movie that was designed for newcomers because George Miller never really assigned any sort of continuity to the series. I still haven’t seen the originals, but I saw Fury Roadtoday because I was interested in the concept and...
