You might say I work under a spell.
I truly value the spell.
I have the privilege of being able to enter the spell, to enter this very arid land where you are likely to find your birthplace.”

I'm starting my freshman year of college on Monday and I'm a little nervous (I have anxiety which doesn't help). Do you have any good note taking tips/studying tips/any tips for anything college? You seem like a smart and successful person so I figured I'd
Hi anon,
Congratulations on starting on this new chapter! It’s totally normal to be nervous - it’s a whole new life! You’ve got this, embrace it all, let it propel you to new and great things. Explore everything! This is your time, and you are in the driver’s seat of your own experience.
In college, and now, I was a voracious note taker, I didn’t miss a single day of class until my junior year, even after that it was pretty few and far between. Being in class taking notes and asking questions was huge for me. I’m a huge nerd, I sat in the front row. Do that! It helps you make lasting connections with your professors. I kept a notebook for each class, and then when it came time for tests (I didn’t start doing this until the end of junior year/all of senior year) type up your notes. The act of typing up your notes is such a great study aid, and then you have an organized study guide you can print out to study on the go! But to be honest I had way more papers than tests, as a communications major, so for writing I would map out my longer essays and just hack away at it. That was the bulk of my college academic life.
Find what works for you! Like I said I really didn’t totally find out what works for me when it comes to studying (I’m an awful test taker) until later in my college career, but you find your groove. What’s more important is just letting yourself explore things inside and outside of the curriculum, enjoy people and places and be open.
This is well-timed, because I think I’m going to start grad school classes online in January!
Also, thanks for the kind words, sending you the biggest hugs as you embark on this new journey!
