Has it been almost a month?

Cripes, it has been almost a month!

I've been buried up to my elbows in sorting out Threadbare. Writing the trilogy was the easy part. Getting it sorted and into print is taking blood, sweat, and tears.

But I'm over halfway done. The print edition for the second book is available, now.

And in between the myriad little tasks that eat up my attention for it, I go back and I stare at Dire:Hell. And I try to figure out the ending.

This one isn't coming easy.

I might have to get through Threadbare before I can finish it. I don't know.

We'll see. Take care, all.

Quickest I've ever worked...

...though to be honest, it helps that I'm converting a web serial into ebook form.

Yep, Threadbare Volume 2 is out. This is where the story starts to get a little more mature. Not in a vulgar way, no, but the stakes get a bit higher, there's more swearing, and bad things happen to good people.

If Volume 1 was childhood, this is a bit like the teenage years.

Though at the core of it, it remains the story of a teddy bear and his little girl. Who's growing up...

Busy, busy winter

January's cold as heck, and the best strategy is to stay indoors. Which is good for me, because I've got a lot to do and very little time to do it in.

Dire:Hell is taking time to finish. This is her last book for a good while, and I want to give her a fitting sendoff, if only a temporary one. So I'm taking care, trying to get the story just right.

Also on the near horizon is the sequel to Threadbare. Yes, that quickly. This story has grabbed me, and I'm riding it out.

But hey, at least one more project is settled; the print version of Threadbare is now available.

A Christmas Story...

...about a lovable teddy bear, animated through magic, and forced to fight for his life to survive.

Threadbare! My first litrpg adventure! It takes place in a world where game mechanics are very real, and people can level up by fighting monsters! It's a tongue-in-cheek look at this new genre, and stars a plush toy in way over his head.

It's not Dire, but I had a hell of a lot of fun writing this one. Dire shall come about in January, but through hard work and writing like a maniac, I managed to get you this one as a Christmas present.

Here's hoping you find it enjoyable!

Delayed Dire...

All right. No help for it, Dire:Hell's not going to make Christmas.

I got into a serious slowdown, and found it harder and harder to get my wordcount to where it needed to be for that.

Then my muse told me to take a break, and work on a side project. And my gods, the words just flowed... I'm about done with it, all in the span of two and a half weeks!

I'm back on Dire:Hell now. I won't make Christmas, but there's an off chance I can make the end of the year. But... well, I'm going to need to polish it. And my beta readers and editors will need to have at it, and they have lives too.

So no promises, at this point. But on the plus side, I should have two things for you, come January!

Holidays, work, life

Long time, no blog! My apologies. We're getting into that ticklish time of year, where every weekend is full and everyone's rushing to finish up things before winter hits.

Work on DIRE:HELL proceeds at a steady clip. I'm over halfway done, and currently on track to release it before the end of the year. I'm gonna try to get it out before Christmas, but there are no guarantees, here.

I have to admit it's a little stressful. This is probably Dire's last adventure for a while, so I'm trying to make it as awesome as I can.

I'm also dabbling with a web serial right now. A little LitRPG project, more of an experiment to see if I can write a good book that doesn't cling to standard genre tropes. We'll see how that goes.

At any rate, have fun and I'll post again once I reach a clear spot in my schedule!

The Bookloft in German Village...

I'll be there! Come this Sunday, November 5th, at 1 PM, I'll be doing a book signing at this beautiful store.

I'm not exaggerating when I call it beautiful. It's basically three old buildings joined together. They knocked down a few walls, put in stairs between the levels, and went from there. It's a city-block wide bookstore packed full of shelves, labyrinthine pathways, and of course, books.

It's in Columbus, in the historic German Village district, not far from some other famous businesses. Like Schmidt's, the best Sausage Haus in town.

If you're free, come by and check it out! I'll be selling, signing, and talking about Final Frost, my younger readers book. Also in attendance will be Amber Rimkus, my co-author and illustrator for the book. But I'll have some of the Dire books on hand. For y'know, reasons.

This is Halloween, this is Halloween...

I love this time of year.

When the air turns crisp and cool, and the leaves come crashing down in a cacophony of colors, then I know it's smooth sailing from this point on.

Seriously, summer's a pain in Ohio, with the boiling hot weather, the humidity that would choke a dog, and the bugs. Even worse when the winter's as light as the last one was. Pollen everywhere, allergies super-high, and bugs, so many bugs.

No matter. Despite the fact that the weather's fighting like mad to stay hot, it'll succumb to the cold rains and creeping mists of October. The dry air will choke the humidity away, and soon enough it'll be time for my favorite holiday.

A small price to pay, for pumpkin spice creeping its way into the collective consciousness, no?

Anyway, I'm thirty thousand words into Dire:Hell. This one's shaping up to be epic, folks! Gonna try to have it out in time for Christmas, but no promises. Much to do, so off I go to do it!

Work work work...

Twelve thousand words into Dire:Hell, and this is the fastest I've been able to write in over a year! The muse is as eager as I am.

Been waiting to do this book properly for a while now, and I'm excited to see it fall into shape. Hopefully the beta readers agree with me on its quality, when the time comes to hand it off.

In other news, I'll be at CinCityCon in a little under two weeks. It's a new RPG and Geekish convention down in Cincinnati, Ohio. It's put together by some experienced folks, the publicity and marketing seem to be going great, and they have some killer events lined up.

Also, I'll be on their program as a "Special Guest". The big time! Wooooo!

(Well, not really. But I'll take what I can get.)

Stop by if you can, and say hi! This one promises to be entertaining...
