Final Frost

There's a feeling, when you've got a book finished and the manuscript sitting there on your hard drive, all shiny and new. When there's nothing else to be done but to wait on the marketing to catch up...

A feeling of power. Of a job well done. Final Frost is ready, and will be out in a week if my partner-in-crime keeps her schedule.

This book is for younger readers, but it's not too childish that you grown folks can't appreciate it, I think. It's a story of little dragons having big adventures, and it's entirely high fantasy in nature. It's a story of kids coming of age, and dealing with a world that's a lot more complicated than they ever knew.

It's a story about dragons.

I hope you'll join me for the journey, that starts in roughly a week. This one promises to be a heck of a trip, judging by the first book. Took a long time to write and get settled, but oh man, it was worth it.

Slightly ahead of schedule...

Good news!

So, in 2015 I self-published one book. 2016 saw two books self-published.

I'd set the goal for myself to have three books self-published this year, but circumstances have changed, somewhat. Thanks to my co-author finally getting some free time, it's going to be four.

Final Frost will be published over this summer. Don't know exactly when, probably in the June or July timeframe. It's about little dragons having big adventures, and friend, it is full of some glorious high fantasy.

This one's more for a middle grade audience, but don't let that stop you. I'll have more on it in the next couple of posts. Until then, I'll be working hard to wrap up Dire's second trilogy. Work on book five continues apace, and we are on schedule for a July launch, barring mishap.

Business as usual...

The first wave of conventions is done for the year, now I'm in the lull until June-ish. The time isn't being wasted.

Dire:Sins is about halfway done, and it's promising to be a heck of a story! It's very much a full-on clash between two stylistically and thematically different villains... an armored tyrant archetype versus a Bond-style mastermind.

Things will blow up, the fate of old friends will be revealed, and everything will go straight to hell when all's said and done.

Current release date is planned for July... though if the stars fall right, I'm not ruling out June.

See you then!

Have a gift on me!

This one is going to require some backstory, I think.

So back in the halcyon days of 2016, a friend of mine and a long-time reader asked when I was going to get a box set, so he could put his Dire books on the shelf with style.

I do like style.

Problem is, Createspace doesn't seem to support boxed sets. Other problem is, none of the local printers I talked to had any clue how to tackle it. Weird, but there you go.

Last problem is, my friend lives in Singapore. I'm not paying shipping fees to send something to Singapore.

I sat down and thought the problem over, and I had an epiphany; This is 2017, and 3D printers are totally a thing.

So instead of getting a cheap cardboard book box together, I talked to a local artist friend of mine (Book of Holding) and commissioned a 3D printer pattern for a book box.

It is free to my readers forever, or close enough. Here's the link. Be forewarned, it takes a lot of material. Enjoy!

Writer's Retreat

Okay, so these things? They're fun as heck.

You get to go out to a fairly remote location, hang out with other writers, talk shop, and write up a storm. I got about a week's work done in a weekend.

Even got in a nifty hike over at Rock House, one of Hocking Hill's biggest cave attractions.

Fair warning, if you ever head that way... it's strenuous, and there's a good section of the trail up the Cliffside with no handrails and about an 80 foot drop on one side. True, the stairs are pretty wide, but it's not a place to be if you have phobias.

But the stay was good, and our readings by the bonfire on Saturday night were a good way to cap it off. The hilarious thing, is that a passer-by who was staying in another part of the facility stopped to listen. We had our own personal bystander!

Good times. We're going to make it an annual deal, I think. Useful, restful, and pleasant.

Busy, busy, busy week!

Last weekend was the Gem City Comic Con, and wow, was it ever a fun time!

Lots of good costumes, fun events, and a few celebrity guests drew in plenty of people, and the packed vendors' hall happily relieved them of their money. Didn't sell as many books as I'd hoped, but more than I'd feared. So I'll be back next year.

Tomorrow, the fifth, I'll be trekking over to Urbana University. I've been invited over for an informal meet n' greet, at their library. Feel free to come on down... if there's enough guests there, I might be moved to do a reading...

Gem City Comic Con

Long story short, I'll be attending tomorrow, selling books in the dealers hall and generally taking in the sights.

I heard that Jolly Blackburn is one of the guest speakers. He's the grand old man responsible for Knights of the Dinner Table! I'll bring the latest copy and try to see about an autograph, maybe... Twenty years is a hell of a run for an Indie comic. Especially a slice of life one about roleplaying.

First con. I have no goals beyond making table fee. No expectations past that, so anything good that happens is a boon.

And I'll tell you guys all about it, when I get back...

Print error - replacement offer

Well, that was unfortunate.

Long story short, I screwed up the formatting on my first print run of Dire:Wars. I've fixed it now, but if you ordered a print copy prior to yesterday, there's a chance your book might have a minor page margin error in it.

Still readable, but it irks me that you guys might be reading messed-up books. So I'mma fix that.

If you have a print copy of Dire:Wars with the error in it, email me at andrewseiple@andrewseiple.com. Include your mailing address and I'll send you a fixed print copy as soon as I get the next shipment in.

Again, my apologies. Peace and be well!

March 15 facebook event!

...a last-minute opportunity has just fallen in my lap!

On March 15, a group of science fiction and fantasy writers will be doing hour-long facebook interviews, with a twist.

Our characters will be the ones being interviewed.

Yes, that's right, if you tune in to the appropriate facebook page at 9 oclock eastern standard time, you can pester Doctor Dire, and be taunted in turn!

Pretty much every hour, there will be a new author with a new character. In-character chats... man, this'll be fun. I've only been practicing for something like this for about three decades. :D

The link is below. See you on the fifteenth!
