A Christmas Story...
...about a lovable teddy bear, animated through magic, and forced to fight for his life to survive.
Threadbare! My first litrpg adventure! It takes place in a world where game mechanics are very real, and people can level up by fighting monsters! It's a tongue-in-cheek look at this new genre, and stars a plush toy in way over his head.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078KGS4V4
It's not Dire, but I had a hell of a lot of fun writing this one. Dire shall come about in January, but through hard work and writing like a maniac, I managed to get you this one as a Christmas present.
Here's hoping you find it enjoyable!

Busy, busy winter
January's cold as heck, and the best strategy is to stay indoors. Which is good for me, because I've got a lot to do and very little time to do it in.
Dire:Hell is taking time to finish. This is her last book for a good while, and I want to give her a fitting sendoff, if only a temporary one. So I'm taking care, trying to get the story just right.
Also on the near horizon is the sequel to Threadbare. Yes, that quickly. This story has grabbed me, and I'm riding it out.
But hey, at least one more project is settled; the print version of Threadbare is now available.

Quickest I've ever worked...
...though to be honest, it helps that I'm converting a web serial into ebook form.
Yep, Threadbare Volume 2 is out. This is where the story starts to get a little more mature. Not in a vulgar way, no, but the stakes get a bit higher, there's more swearing, and bad things happen to good people.
If Volume 1 was childhood, this is a bit like the teenage years.
Though at the core of it, it remains the story of a teddy bear and his little girl. Who's growing up...

Has it been almost a month?
Cripes, it has been almost a month!
I've been buried up to my elbows in sorting out Threadbare. Writing the trilogy was the easy part. Getting it sorted and into print is taking blood, sweat, and tears.
But I'm over halfway done. The print edition for the second book is available, now.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/0692073205/...
And in between the myriad little tasks that eat up my attention for it, I go back and I stare at Dire:Hell. And I try to figure out the ending.
This one isn't coming easy.
I might have to get through Threadbare before I can finish it. I don't know.
We'll see. Take care, all.

Threadbare 3 is done!
It was a lot of work, but I got it in under the wire.

LitRPG Storybundle
Hey, all.
Work proceeds on Dire:Hell. Most of the beta readers have chimed in, and the editing is proceeding. It's slow, though. Probably take a few weeks. I will release it in April no matter what; I'm past the point of fretting over it. It will be the story it is, and there's no point in overpolishing.
In other news, Threadbare Volume 1 has been selected to appear in an anthology. This is a Bookbundle, a collection of eight full-length novels. It's one of those pay-what-you-want deals, though there is a minimum. ($5)
It's around for a couple of weeks, then the offer expires. The link follows. If Threadbare was your first taste of LitRPG and you want more, this is a good chance to try a sampler platter, so to speak...

Future scrawlings...
Friends, foes, folk of all kinds...
I'm tired. Holy fudge, I'm tired.
In the past five months, I've released four books. And I've done this while holding down my day job, and managing family business.
So... now I'm taking a bit of a break. Not long, in the grand scheme of things. Just enough to get my mojo back. Just enough to get some rest.
But, I'm not leaving you guys hanging.
This month I'll wrap up the print version of Dire:Hell.
Next month,The first Threadbare audio book is scheduled to launch.
And the month after that? If the stars align, by then I'll have the Threadbare RPG ready for either mailing list or Patreon, depending on how much work it is.
There's a lot to do. And I'll do it.
Later. Because holy hell, I'm tired.

The Great LitRPG KU Exodus
It's a sobering thing, to see a storm hit, and to realize that through no virtue or planning of your own besides luck, you have been spared the deluge.
So, back in the April to May timeframe, a lot of Gamelit/LitRPG authors of my acquaintance got nastygrams from Amazon. The letters were identical, and said that they were in violation of the Terms of Service. Amazon took away quite a lot of their Kindle Unlimited page read credits, and told them not to do it again.
Only problem was, these guys hadn't done anything to begin with.
And while many of them were trying to contact Amazon to figure out what was going on, they got a second-stage nastygram, with a bonus present of suspended books.
It wasn't hard to figure out what was going on. The Amazon Kindle Unlimited scamfarms occasionally use legitimate books as cover, in order to try and fool the Amazon algorithms. The algorithms, being programmed to err on the side of nuclear explosions, identify the innocent authors as offenders and automatically start beating them up until the activity stops.
It's unfair, it's horrible, and several full-time writers in the LitRPG/Gamelit community have been affected.
But not me.
I have some stuff in KU, but not Threadbare. Not the Gamelit stuff. My desire to leave it available to members of selected fiction sites meant I couldn't put it in KU to begin with. So I was spared the storm. This time, anyway.
Many of my fellow authors, thus struck, are starting to go wide. They will join me in Kobo, Apple, D2D, and all the little subsidiaries. They are done with KU and drama, for now at least.
And oh, hey! My first audiobook comes out tomorrow!
https://www.audible.com/pd/Sci-Fi-Fan...
To celebrate, I'm dropping the ebook price for Threadbare Volume I to $0.99 or the local store equivalent. It'll be on sale for the day all through Amazon.
Hooray for audiobooks! Hooray for powerleveling the Luck stat! Be well, and roll crits!

Amazing News!
So, have you ever heard of "The View?" Daytime talk show, celebrity hosts, all sorts of topics...
Evidently they do a regular segment called "The Ladies Get LIt." Each host holds up a book, and explains why it is awesome.
Guess which book Whoopi Goldberg will be talking about on July 9th.
If you answered "Threadbare," then you would be 100% correct. And yes, I'm just as amazed as you are.
This is big. This is my book is going in front of 2 million or so viewers big. This is...
I am humbled by the vagaries of fate, and thankful to one of my childhood idols for this.
If you hang in there long enough and keep writing, man oh man, does life get strange...
