Insert Witty Title
I got nothing today.
No seriously, nothing.
I didn’t post last week due to randomness with moving and all that, and I forgot I was supposed to post today until just now. I didn’t even know it was Wednesday until like 5 minutes ago.
I mean, I knew that, but it didn’t sink in.
Moving in is tough. It’s draining. It’s overwhelming.
I just want everything to be done. I want the house to be perfect and the decor to be great and to be able to just relax and LIVE.
But I have work. And I have deadlines. And I’m not Mary Poppins, so things take time. The good news is that I am sleeping really well because I’m tired…
Did you see my video this week? Look here if you didn’t.
Could be fun, huh? Can’t wait to see what it looks like when it’s done. Maybe someone from HGTV will come and finish it for me so I can be surprised…
Maybe not.
Anywho. I’ve got nothing witty today, as the post title indicates. Just me.
I do have a sale though.
Get yours now! It’s fun, it’s cute, and some people really like it. So there’s that going for it. Buy, read, review, repeat.
You know, the usual.
Meanwhile, more stuff coming down the pipe!
Assuming I find the witty stuff again.
Wherever it went.

Recovery
I wish this was me. I so wish it was.Post conference recovery is in full swing.
I hurt. All over. Mostly my feet, but also all over.
My brain hurts. So many classes, so much networking, and so much goodness!
Leaving my writing friends hurts my heart, so there’s that too. So rough.
Real life is real, people. So, so real. Work is real. Life is real.
I have a book coming out Friday. (See it here!)
I am moving into my new place on Saturday. (STUFF EVERYWHERE!)
Recovery isn’t much by way of recovery, huh?
Next week will be better. I hope.

Cranking
Hey all!
I really don’y have much time to blog this week. You see, I’m WAY behind on a certain deadline. As in I should have been done AGES ago. As in I am really good at procrastinating and then I PANIC and hope it isn’t crap.
No, I didn’t do this in other things in my life, why do you ask?
Anywho. Between packing for my move, packing for my trip, fixing up the new place, and OHMYGOSH THIS DEADLINE, my brain is toast.
Send help.
Hope you love it! Provided it gets done. EEP!

Something Sensitive
Being a writer is hard. This isn’t news, it’s been hard from day one. Hard in so many ways. Some ways I’d never considered.
I’m a bit of a sensitive person, for my faults, and some of the hard ways directly impact me alone.
Being sensitive doesn’t help.
Lately there’s been an uptick in negativity. I’m used to negative reviews, that comes with the territory and they are expected. But personal messages to me have grown more negative, and that affects me.
People tell me to ignore it. People say I can’t please everyone. People say reply to them, people say don’t, people say all sorts of things. Me? I’m an apologizer. Unnecessarily so at times, but it makes me feel better.
So this is going to make me feel better. I hope.
I’m sorry if I or my books have disappointed you. I’m sorry if they weren’t what you expected. I’m sorry if something in them offended or angered you. I’m sorry if you didn’t enjoy them, didn’t approve of a character, or thought something ought to be different.
All I can say is I’m sorry, and, as with everything, I hope to be better in the future.
When I write, I can only write what I feel is best for the story and what I feel is appropriate. I can’t consider anything else, or I will be paralyzed by all the things to consider. I only publish something if I am pleased with it.
It hurts when that pleasure isn’t returned by the readers.
But everyone is entitled to their opinion.
I’m sorry if those opinions don’t match.

Things are INSANE this week! We’ve got so many releases that I’m barely on top of it!

Change is good
Sorry I missed last week, and almost this week too. I have a good excuse. Can you guess?

I BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!
It’s insane and intense and I question it daily, but I love it. I’m working on cleaning it up and making it mine before I officially move my stuff in, so that’s taking up my time.
And I get to make myself a writer cave.
Dreams do come true.
I’ll post pics when it’s ready! In the meantime, I’ll keep writing goodness and share what I can when I can!
Until next time!

Tidying Up

I recently discovered a certain show about tidying up that shall remain nameless for the sake of not wanting to sound like a promoter or sponsor, and like any good Netflix series, I binge watched, fascinated. Rapt with attention, and amazed by the changes that took place.
From my couch, I was amazed and in awe.
Ignoring my deadlines and projects, I was fascinated.
Surrounded by my own clutter, mess, and madness, I was drawn in.
Do you see the irony and the problem?
I was watching, but I wasn’t learning. I was seeing, but I wasn’t observing.
And that seemed a little bit ridiculous.
So I have decided to tidy up myself. My current place of living doesn’t leave me much to work with, but an upcoming change will adjust that for me and give me ample opportunity to explore my new tidy tendencies. I am going to tidy up my daily schedule, tidy up my style of living, tidy up my writing projects, and tidy up my style of working on them.
Now, I did say tidy, I did not say overhaul. I don’t expect any miracles, and I am well aware that it will take some time for habits and patterns to form. But realizing that something has to change is always the first step, and I believe in taking advantage of the motivation when it comes.
We’ll see what happens. I’m hoping for some serious stress relief, if nothing else!
Will you join me in a TidyFest? What will you tidy up?
Or, if you’re already the tidy sort, do you have any tips?
Heaven knows, I’ll need them!

Jet lag is no joke

I just got back from a fantastic trip to England. A dream of a trip. An incredible trip.
And I’m exhausted.
So very exhausted.
I’ve been back for two days, and I still feel like I’m only partially here. I’m still waking up at 2 or 3 in the morning as if it’s time to get up. I’m good for a few hours at work, and then I hit a wall like no other wall.
I should be writing. I have deadlines, some of them very tight ones. But all I want to do is sleep. For a long time and whenever I feel like it.
I miss England a lot already. Jet lag only makes that feeling worse.
Soon both will pass. Jet lag can leave, that’s fine. But England?
England will be forever.
And maybe jet lag is worth that.

Dropping By

Hey all! I missed posting on Wednesday because I was traveling to this fantastic conference, and I’ve been sitting in class and learning a lot and making so many friends ever since.
But I haven’t forgotten you!
Have you seen the new releases this week? Have you picked up Grizz’s story? What about The Beauty?
I hope you have. I hope you have loved them. I hope you love what I write.
I’m picking up some fabulous tips and tricks and information at this conference that I hope to implement soon. You’ll all benefit, I promise. I want to be better with you all. I want you to know how much I care that you read this, that you read my books, that we interact online.
If you have a second, let me know what you would like from me. How we can interact better. What you want me to share.
Stuff like that.
Also, fun fact, Jason F. Wright posed with the Belltown gals in our ensembles for a photo the other day. *fangirling*
Talk to you soon!

Release Day!
It’s release day again!!! WOOHOO!!!!

Sometimes I think it would be fantastic to get flowers or chocolate or a treat or something when I release a book. Something to make the day special or highlight it somehow.
Trouble is that most of the time, release day is a work day. It’s just another Wednesday. I’m not thinking as much about the release as I am about my job at hand, what the day will bring, what I will need to accomplish, and what the rest of the week needs to be.
It’s not a special day. There’s no cheer of the crowd as I walk into work. No coworkers bring me cookies or a card or cake. It doesn’t make department news. It can’t. We have too much else to do, endless lists to tackle and phone calls to return. Stuff upon stuff upon stuff.
There’s no book release party for me.
And when I get home from work, I usually collapse onto the couch or do my laundry or clean my place or start on the next project.
Not sure how I’ll celebrate tonight. If I’ll celebrate.
I’m so delighted to have released a book today. I am. It’s still a dream come true, and an impossible one at that.
But it’s also Wednesday. Laundry needs doing. Deadlines are there. And I’m tired.
Happy Release Day anyway. I’ll put chocolate chips in my cocoa tonight.
That’ll do, right?
