My Favorite Thing

No matter how many books I release, no matter how many sales I get, no matter how much of a routine I fall into, there is one thing that never, ever gets old.

Seeing my book in print and holding it in my hands will forever and always be one of my favorite things.

Faceoff releases next Tuesday, and I am ridiculously excited about it.

Get ready. Follow us here.

Link here.

Talk soon.

Real Love

Yesterday at my aunt’s funeral, I saw love.

That isn’t too surprising, considering how much our family adores her, but there was one particular moment where this romance writer was blessed enough to witness real, true, sustaining love in its best and purest form.

And I hadn’t expected that.

It had been right in front of me for almost thirty years. I had missed it for almost thirty years.

But I saw it yesterday.

As far as I can recall, the words that sank in most were these: “I don’t know if my yearning to be with her with ever go away; I don’t think it will.”

I cried many tears yesterday for many reasons, but this one got me most.

Open your eyes to the love around you, friends.

It’s there if you look for it.

Hugs.

Tender

Just a quick note on this Wednesday.

I don’t have much to say. One of my aunts passed away this weekend, and I’m feeling pretty low.

Tell the people close to you that you love them and how much they mean to you. Do it now. While you can.

Hugs, all.

Whoops

I sat down at work this morning and realized it was Thursday. And by it being Thursday, yesterday was Wednesday. And Wednesday is blogpost day.

Which I didn’t do.

Whoops.

I don’t even have a good excuse, it wasn’t an insane day. I mean, sure, I have a lot on my mind and my plate, but that happens every week.

And I really don’t have much to say today.

So…

Hi.

Let’s share goodness. Tell me something happy, bright, funny, positive, or hopeful!

Ready go.

New Release!

Did you catch the news yesterday? Did you? Did you? Did you?

Sorry… Long day, late night, lotsa stuff, high anticipation…

Sorry.

How gorgeous is this cover? My cover artist is a GENIUS.

So the 4th book in the Spinster Chronicles was released yesterday. I love this book. I mean, I love all of my books, but this one I just love. A strong woman whose insecurities are revealed as she allows herself to be vulnerable, which is the scariest thing of all sometimes. I loved writing her. I loved writing the man who wasn’t put off by her independence and strength, and who was there for her when the insecurities overwhelmed her.

These characters felt so real to me. Still do. Real characters, real flaws, real beauty in both parts.

Did you know that a writer pours a significant portion of themself into every project? Not necessarily their story or their personality, but their soul. Their love. Their hopes and dreams.

Did you know that release day is one of the most exciting yet terrifying days on the planet?

Did you know that we crave reviews and fear reviews on a regular basis?

Did you know that I’m rambling now because release day makes me crazy?

ANYWAY.

If you haven’t grabbed your copy of My Fair Spinster, you may want to do that here and now! And remember that I love it.

And I hope you do too.

Three Months

Do you know what that means? Are you a great big dork like I am? Can you feel the gloriousness of what that means?

Here’s a hint:

THREE MONTHS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!

I know, I know, we still have a ways to go and a lot of other goodness first, but the Christmas season is my absolute favorite time of year. I seriously can’t wait for all of that.

I can’t think about anything else today because now I’m too excited. I want to go out and buy Christmas things.

Are you as excited as I am? What for? What about Christmas and its season make you happiest?

Also. Side note. I’m releasing a book next week. You can get your pre-order in here. If you want. No pressure.

HERE!

I’m here, I’m here, I promise I’m here.

But I’m really not.

I’m deep in the writing rabbit hole, and I have been for days. I only just realized I didn’t post today or last week, and I had guilt.

So… hi….

Hope you’re good. Hope September is great.

Hope you don’t mind that I really am popping off now because I am neck deep in hockey goodness for the Northbrook Elite series.

See you soon!

My Current Binge

Y’all. I’m a Netflix/Amazon Prime binger. It’s problem, but I know it’s a problem, so it’s okay, right?

At the moment, I am HEAVILY into the binging of The Great British Baking Show.

Heavily.

Maybe it’s due to my desire to be a great baker and my lack of time, effort, and ability to do so. Some innate drive to join with them even though I am sooooo unqualified. There’s nothing I love more than shaking my head along with Paul Hollywood, and going, “And you call THAT a choux pastry???”

I don’t know how to make any pastry, let alone choux, but I know what it looks like now!

And sometimes I think it would be amazing to write a story set in a baking competition. Then I remember that there are at least four Hallmark movies already based around such a theme, and I wonder if that’s a sign…

But really, should I?

Not that I have the time to do a new project right now. I’m on a “strictly current projects only” restriction from my publisher. And some of my writing partners. And I think my mom.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the doctor at work had that restriction for me, too.

Writer probs.

ANYWHO. I love this show. A lot. I’ve always loved it a lot, but right now I’m back to loving it a lot.

Maybe it’s the carbs. As Prue (on the show) says, “It’s worth the calories.”

Dang straight, lady. Sure is.

(If you think I should write a story around a baking competition, shout it out!)

Are you there, Fall?

Seriously, has summer ended yet? I am so done with the heat and humidity and sweating and my AC.

I mean, I love my AC, let’s not get carried away here. But whyyyyyy do I have to use it all the time? Can we stop now?

I love walking outside. Love it. I hate walking outside in the heat and humidity and sweating. Maybe it’s my skin tone. I flush like my face is about to explode when I’ve exerted myself. It worries people. I don’t want it to look like I’ve run a marathon when I’ve walked around the block just because I’m overheated.

Summer needs to go.

I want to put out my fall decor and wear sweatshirts and drink cocoa without getting funny looks. I want it to be cold when I go outside.

I WANT TO BUNDLE UP!

Tell me I’m not alone.

Share the fall love.

What are you looking forward to?

Un-Downer Time

Get the reference?

My posts lately I’ve been written by an alter-ego I’ll call Nan. She’s less than cheery, but quite sincere. I have to take care to watch myself around Nan, or I forget how to smile.

And I eat excessive amounts of chocolate.

So today we’re going to talk of happy things. Nan is invited, of course, but she’s going to be quiet and observe today.

It’s really for the best.

I’m slowly building up a review team (shameless plug!) and you can join it, if you want. I’m just happy to have one! It’s something I always wanted, but hadn’t managed to get around to getting until now. And I’m a little bit afraid of reviews, truth be told.

Don’t tell them. Reviews can smell fear

I’m in the production stages of one of my favorite books ever written, coming out in October. It’s one of those projects that makes me see just how far I’ve come in my writing journey, and I am dying to get her out into the world! I’m just so proud of her!

I get to start a fun project with friends (as soon as one or two other things get done) and that’s always something to smile about.

Ummm… Oh! We are down to minimal boxes in my new house! PRAISE THE HEAVENLY SKIES. Now it’s just decorating and making a home and settling in and…

Whoops, Nan got a little too close. Back to the corner, sweetie.

I found an adorable used and rare bookshop in my little town over the weekend. Spent too much money. Could have spent more. Loved every second.

Share some goodness with me and the rest, all! We could use it!

And of your version of Nan needs a word, that’s okay too!
