Chasing Sunrise by Emily Mah

Picture Chasing Sunrise
Liana Linacre thought she was in love, but what began as her fantasy romance ended with a curse that threatens her life and everything she loves. Orphaned and alone, she barely escapes the dark forces that want her soul.

Corban Alexander belongs to an ancient order of vampire hunters and wants to kill everyone who is demon-touched. He knows that the creatures who want Liana dead will find her again before long.

Liana must fight if she wants to live, while Corban must decide if he can love a girl who made the one mistake he believes is unforgivable.

No one, mortal or immortal, has ever won against the evil that plagues Liana, but if she and Corban can work together, they might just defy the laws of the universe.

Catching Moonlight
Corban Alexander has a dark side, and ever since a chance encounter with Liana Linacre, a girl he was supposed to protect, it's darker and more addictive than ever. Every minute of every hour of every day he fights to resist succumbing to his worst instincts. If he doesn't, he will fall, and gain the power to scourge and wreak havoc upon humanity, feeding off their pain. It would take a legion of angels to stop him.

So when he learns that Liana needs help once again, he knows he is the last person to provide it. The problem is, no one else is willing.

Corban must return to the side of the girl he loves, and pray that he is strong enough to save both her and himself.

Conquering Starlight
Angels are falling all over the world and earthquakes and tidal waves are demolishing the major cities. Vampires are proliferating in the chaos, and a deadly, demonic plague is spreading like wildfire.

The pressure is on for Liana and her faithful friends: Corban, the ex-angel and possible boyfriend; Amy, the anthropology-student-turned-loremaster; and Gina, the jeweler-turned-supernatural-weaponsmith. The four of them plus an army of soldiers drawn from across all the human realms must journey into the demon realm and close the portal once and for all.

But when the fallen discover their plans, the battles begin, and Liana finds herself alone in a strange realm of immortal demons who live in perpetual night, under a sky studded with stars. It is the demon realm, or Starlight Kingdom, and its inhabitants are on the brink of their own war. While her friends fight to reach her, she must decipher the prophecy and figure out how to free both Earth and herself from dark forces that could rend the very fabric of the universe, and destroy all creation.

Excerpts:
"Our gazes met, and his eyes widened a notch. A second later, he was gone, though I didn’t remember seeing him step away. It was as if he’d winked out of existence. Well, that had gone about as well as I’d expected, truly."

"No sooner had I gotten my bearings than I found myself backed against a wall, Corban looking me straight in the eye.
'Listen,' he said. 'You can try to hide, but I know what you are. You’re not welcome here.'”

A partnership to bring the Kingdom Journals to audiobook!

Picture For two years I've been grappling with the decision to have audiobooks created for my novels. After two failed contracts, I felt disillusioned and frustrated with the process and cost. Audiobook production, done right, I realized is an expensive proposition, over twice the amount I spend on editing, formatting, and a cover for a single novel. On the other hand, not being in the audiobook realm leaves a potential audience unattainable.

In September I attended the Penned Con reader event. Hair bobbing, a spunky girl approached my table, postcard held out to me. She introduced herself and explained she was an audiobook narrator and she'd recorded many audiobooks. My interest peaked because the problem with my two failed attempts was undependable narrators. After the con I listened to the demos on her website and contacted her, still not sure if I wanted to invest. She produced a seven minute clip of Kingdom of Embers. Since I haven't heard many audiobooks, I had a trusted friend listen too. My friend came back with "I wanted to listen to more".

The very next week I had another friend ask if my books were available via audiobook yet. Okay universe, I thought, is this a sign? Looking at my budget, I decided to tighten other things and go for the audiobook! I am super excited to announce my partnership with Amy Deuchler, Audiobook narrator, for the reading and production of the Kingdom of Embers audiobook. It will be available mid-January, just in time for your winter listening pleasure.

If you'd like to learn more about Amy and listen to her other narrations, you can find her on her website. You can also follow Amy on Facebook, LinkedIN, and Twitter. Go show her some love and let her know how excited we are to have her bring Kingdom of Embers to the audiobook stage!

Happy listening!
Tricia

New Release Unseen Voices by Christine Pope

Picture Project Demon Hunters is canceled…but apparently no one told the demons.

Knowing how the horrifying events that took place while filming Project Demon Hunters shook his friend Michael Covenant to the core, Will Gordon readily says yes to Michael’s request to be ready — as a friend and as an Episcopal priest — in case psychic Rosemary McGuire calls for help.

Rosemary doesn’t know exactly why the show was canceled...other than a demon murdered the show’s producer, and the network buried every scrap of harrowing footage under a ton of hacker-proof security.

When an independent filmmaker shows up at Rosemary’s metaphysical bookshop with tantalizing clues that a backup copy of the missing footage exists, she promises Michael she’ll call some crusty old priest “in a pinch,” and begins following a trail of impossibly tiny bread crumbs.

But that trail doesn’t just lead her somewhere. It leads something to Rosemary, alarming enough that she calls Michael’s priest friend…who turns out to be way younger and heroically handsome than she could have ever anticipated. But the heat between them may be no match for the demonic fire that grows hotter and more dangerous the closer they get to the truth.

Troy clicked off the radio. “Well, happy Christmas to you too. I’m glad we didn’t listen to that yesterday.”
I rubbed the medallion and ID tags hanging around my neck. I couldn’t think about the men I’d killed, or it would drive me crazy. “There’s nothing on vaccination centers. Why aren’t they distributing the cure? It’s been a week.”
Wrapping his hands around mine, Troy kissed my forehead. “They have to clean and retrofit a plant, scale up. It takes a while.”
I shook my head. “Dena already had the production location picked out. I heard them talking; it didn’t need any customization. They should be setting up distribution locations. I don’t get it. Hundreds of people are dying every week, and soon it’ll be thousands.”
“Why withhold the vaccine?” Troy hooked his fingers in my belt loops.
“You trust Owen and Dena after what they did to us? After they’ve refused to share the technology with other countries?”
“No, not on a personal level. They formed Lovelock to develop a cure. Things like this take a while. You’ll see. They said they’d send crews to Europe and Asia after the plant was up and running. Aren’t we taking a break from saving the world?”

...Four months earlier Jema and Troy were shipped to the desert to avoid an epidemic flu. Now they're hiding out in the same desert. Can they avoid detection and a life of being used as lab rats? Will they figure out a way to get the cure to everyone around the world? Read the first of the story in the Deadly Reality Anthology out today! Over fifteen short stories from all genres great for quick reads.

To end, I wanted to include a few fun facts about the prequel to this short story, Lovelock Ones. Lovelock Ones is named for a cave in Nevada that served as a home for people as early as 1450 B.C.. Lovelock Cave is situated near the now dry Humboldt Lake. The lake and surrounding marshlands, now a dry desert, offered early settlers access to food like fish and duck. Duck decoys dating back to 400 B.C. were found in the cave. The Paiutes, a Native American tribe that inhabited regions of Nevada around Lovelock, have legends of red-haired giants, the "Si-Te-Cah", a cannibalistic and aggressive tribe that were defeated by the Paiutes at the site of Lovelock Cave. In Lovelock Ones, the Lovelock Cave site served as a base camp for the group evading the epidemic plague Jema and Troy join with their families.

Hoping to see everyone in November! Happy reading!

The Cocoon Chronicles - an inspiring true love story

Picture Happy Thursday! I'm hoping this week is finding you well. I am having a great week as one, it was my birthday, and two, it was my birthday! I've begun my 50th year around the sun and plan to live every day to it's fullest!

I'm especially excited to talk about The Cocoon Chronicles today. I have a bit of a story, but it's a good one, so stick with me. Two years ago I was introduced to Amy Collette of Unleash Your Inner Author through a mutual friend. Amy lives in the town next to mine so we met for coffee. I learned she helped non-fiction authors publish their books and was an author herself (see my prior blog post on her book, The Gratitude Connection). She told me about an author and book (Awakenings from the Light, Nancy Rynes) that I absolutely loved about a near-death experience that just blew my mind, read the book, that's all I can say! (That, and I totally want to meet this lady too - see the next paragraph)

Fast forward to a year later when I joined Toastmasters International to improve my public speaking skills. There I met Glenn Bott who gave a speech about his near death experience after a bicycle crash. Glenn probably thought I was crazy, but I asked to have coffee with me to learn more. For some reason I'd become obsessed with the near death experience (NDE) topic. Glenn's experience wasn't anything like Nancy's but our meetup began a wonderful friendship. I introduced Glenn to Amy Collette of Unleash Your Inner Author because Glenn and his wife already had a book out, the inspiring Luke's Life Lessons.

This connection led Glenn's wife, Brenda (are you still with me... it's a three degrees of separation story, I get chills thinking about it), to write and publish her, at the time challenging but now inspiring, experience during Glenn's rehabilitation from a traumatic brain injury sustained during the biking accident. I had the pleasure of attending Brenda's book launch and hearing her story first-hand.

The Cocoon Chronicles, a love story, by Brenda Bott is an inspiring account of her journey of helping Glenn through his recovery. Because she kept a journal she was able to retell her story day by day as Glenn improved, and sometimes didn't, and how her positivity, faith, and love for Glenn pulled them both through to the other side. My favorite part of the book may be the quotes she took from her journal and included for readers. Here is one of my top picks:

"Watch me, I'm making a cocoon. It looks like I'm hiding, I know, but a cocoon is no escape. It's an in-between house where the change takes place... During the change, it will seem... that nothing is happening, but the butterfly is already becoming, it just takes time." - Sue Monk Kidd

All the links are above so please find Brenda, Glenn, Amy, and Nancy and their books on Goodreads or their websites!

As always, happy reading and stay inspired!
