The Omen of Stones New Release

Picture Happy Friday lovelies! I've got a hot new release from Casey L. Bond to share with you today...

Spirit and Stone. Song and Sky. Fate and Future all align.

On my seventeenth birthday, I finally heard Fate’s voice. He whispered to me again and again, insisting I find the Omen of Stones. Having never heard of such lore, I thought I could ignore his pleas. The Summer Solstice proved otherwise. Being surrounded by fellow witches worked my magic up into a powerful swell that crashed and churned within me. As the energy crackled through my veins, I shunned my royal duties to follow the call of my heart.

Venturing beyond the safety of the Kingdom’s borders, I felt Fate nudging me toward a destiny I was eager to claim. Confidence in my craft blinded me from the ominous clouds of danger that roiled on the horizon.

Captured by purists dead-set on purging the Kingdom of magic and witches, my salvation came in the form of a mysterious girl who wielded stones like daggers. Something about her called to me, whispering we were stronger together, strong enough to stand against the dark forces threatening to crush my kingdom. Trusting Fate could jeopardize my heritage and my throne, but defying him could cost Omen’s life.

Seriously, he's the size of a pony. Her favorite books are the ones that contain magical worlds and flawed characters she would want to hang out with. Most days of the week, she writes young adult fantasy books, letting her imaginary friends spill onto the blank page.

Excerpt:
I looked around at our house, then to the boy standing in it, into his honey-gold eyes. “I don’t regret saving you, and I don’t regret bringing you here, or making salve for you, or letting you stay. I don’t regret walking with you to see the flood. But if I had let those men drown you, or if I would’ve left you bound in the rope when I had the means to sever it, or outside without a roof over your head when I had one to offer… If I’d refused to ease the pain in your wrists, River, I would have regretted it. I would have regretted every second of any and all of those choices.”

How to heal your broken heart

[image error] Happy Wednesday! If you've been following along with my newsletter series the past three weeks, then you've gotten a lot of great tips on how to heal from an emotional trauma, be it a breakup, problem with friend, loss of a love one, or family situation. I wanted to combine it in one place in case you missed it and so that anyone could access it.
Chloe's plan for healing a broken heart
In Perfect (spoiler alert but keep reading, not a big plot reveal), Chloe and her high school sweetheart break up after 3 years of dating. She’s devastated but here’s what she does...
[image error] Zack, Nina, & Taylor's healing broken hearts systems
In my YouTube video I talk about how Nina handled her parents' divorce, Zack dealt with Liz's betrayal of trust, and how Taylor Swift got over her breakup with Calvin Hayes.
More resources on how to heal your broken heart
For more in depth information I collected a number of links that may offer more support...

Goodbye for Good - What do you do with your ex's stuff? Burn it? Throw it in the trash? Simple advice on how to deal with things left behind.

Look at the Big Picture - Thinking about your life as a whole rather than fixating on the one breakup, let down, or trying incident can help put things in perspective. It may not make the pain disappear, but focusing on the future can help you feel a bit better now until the main sting subsides.

What Happens When a Friend Cuts You Out of Their Life?
I found this article particularly helpful as I had a friend disengage from me suddenly about six months ago. Losing a long-time friend was devastating, and I am still trying process what went wrong. This piece is an excerpt from The Golden Condom and Other Essays on Love Lost and Found from Jeanne Safer, PhD. Jeanne describes how she dealt with the loss of a lifelong friend.

What It’s Like...: To Spend Months In Solitude
Can you imagine spending months alone? Brook Lea Foster took a job as a fire lookout in Montana sixteen years ago and works and lives primarily in solitude. Could you do it? Even as an introvert, I'm not sure I could go more than two days. What do you think? Read Brook's story to learn about her transformation.

You 2.0
Do you feel like you need a big change? To revamp one section of your life? Maybe a job or a location? In this article, Carlin Flora suggest four major things we have to do to make significant changes: 1) Overcome the fear of failure, 2) Embrace risk and novelty, 3) Create a new internal vision, and 4) Expect (and enjoy) discomfort.

10 Ways to Get Over a Breakup Fast by Dr. Elizabeth Yuko & sheknows
If you're not one to sit around and mope, maybe a more rip the band-aid off type person, this article may appeal to you. Dr. Yuko asks several relationship experts how they suggest speeding the healing process.

25 Ways to Get Over a Breakup Like a Grown Woman from Cosmopolitan
Cosmo gives you 25 ways to put on your big girl pants and grab a new lease on life. Tip 1: Buy yourself a huge bouquet of your favorite flowers.

The Cut – How to Get Over a Breakup: 9 Tips to Heal a Broken Heart
No one gets down to business like New Yorkers. In this article anonymous New Yorkers offer advice how how to get over your breakup. Suggestion 1: Talk about it (said with a heavy New York accent, I'm thinking like Joey from Friends!)

I'm hoping that peeps found this useful. I know for me there is nothing worse than feeling sad and alone. I always have to remember to keep eating right, exercise, get good sleep, AND TALK TO PEOPLE. So if you're up for it, share with us what's going on with you in the comments OR how you made it through a rough patch.

Thanks and happy reading until next time,
Tricia

YA Urban Fantasy Demon Bound by Chris Cannon

Picture Happy Friday! Which means in book people language... more time to read! Even with my back log of books growing on my Kindle this book had me one clicking already! Here are all the deets about this young adult urban fantasy!

Blurb:
When a summoning goes awry, suddenly booknerd Meena’s summer job becomes something drastically different. Instead of cleaning eccentric Carol’s house, she’s bound to a demon as his soul-collector. Soon Meena discovers that the boring, pageant-obsessed, bonfire-loving town that she’s never fit in to is a hotbed for soul-sucking demons, demon-hunting witches, and vampires who just wanna have fun… And then she comes into her own powers.

Could things get any stranger? Good thing she meets new guy Jake—who gets her and still hangs around.

When Jake’s mom sends him off to his Aunt Zelda’s for the summer, he thought he’d be bored. But nothing is what it seems in this town. His aunt isn’t just odd, she’s a witch who fights demons and tries to maintain the magical balance of the town. Jake should get the hell out of there and, he would leave, except for bad-ass newbie witch Meena, who looks at him like he matters.

He never counted on sticking around, but Meena’s bound to a demon who wants to destroy her soul—and Jake’s finally found someone worth fighting for.

Lock, a sinister fairy tale...

Picture Happy Monday and happy March!

Today I'm highlighting a paranormal, romantic suspense novel by Kimberly Knight. It's now available for pre-order and will release on March 17! Here are all the details...

Blurb:
Before Zell was born, her fate was sealed.

Held captive in a high-rise overlooking New York City since the age of twelve, she had no friends her own age, no life outside of the penthouse, and absolutely no choices of her own. But what she didn’t realize was the tower where she lost her freedom would one day become her salvation. Her prince would arrive, they would fall in love, and they would come up with a plan for her to escape so they could live happily ever after.

If only it were that easy.

Every girl dreams of her life becoming a fairy tale, even Zell, who’s knowledge of romance was simply from the books she stole from other girls at the brothel.
In a world where sex, drugs, and manipulation is solely the life she knows, the only fairy tale poor Zell would endure would be a sinister one ...

Because freedom always comes at a price.

National Eating Disorder Awareness Week

Picture Hello all you lovely peeps!

I'm excited to help promote National Eating Disorders Awareness week! As an anorexia survivor, healthy lifestyle, as well as attitude towards eating and body image, are huge to me. How we feel about ourselves emotionally, intellectually, mentally, and physically play a big part in our mental health, confidence, and how we interact with others and perform in life.

All of us will have off days, but being aware of potential negative self-image whether it is body image or confidence in our abilities, effects how we feel and thus present ourselves to the world. When we have a positive image of self we are more confident and happy, have more energy and attract positive things.

Stereotypes, media, peer-pressure, other's opinions, and comparing ourselves are things that may impact our perception of ourselves. It is important to have a valid and unbiased view of who we are, and to own all of it. We all have quirks, flaws, things that make us different, special, and unique. Seeing these differences as assets is important. What YOU contribute to your little corner of the world, or maybe even the whole world, IS VALUABLE!

At one point in my life I decided that being skinny and working out every day were the most important defining things about myself. The problem with this was that I only became this one thing, how much I weighed, how much I worked out, and how much I ate. Every bit of my self esteem was tied to those things. In order to maintain any hint of confidence, I had to do these perfectly every day until it became so limiting I did little else. As my weight plummeted, my brain reprogrammed itself to not see myself objectively. This led to me being a very sick person physically and emotionally. It took me years to re-teach myself to think differently about food, eating, and see myself objectively.

I've gathered some great links on body image and positive self-awareness. Take a look at the ones that interest you below and remember to COME AS YOU ARE! That means that you are great just the way you are and there is no one way, shape, or form that is better than another, we're all different and that's wonderful! Be sure to share with others who may benefit from this content AND I'd love to hear how you come as you are! Comment below!

Mission Monday: Your Perfect

Picture Happy Monday! Okay, that may be an oxymoron, but why not start out the week on a positive note? Walk on the sunny side, think positive, and all that jazz. Today I am sharing my thoughts on, okay, partially on the behind the scenes of why Perfect, but mostly on my thoughts on perfection. And completely because we are PERFECT, perfectly us at this time. There's no other way to be, so I say, embrace it.

Given, this may not mean you love everything about yourself right now. If you wallow in what is wrong, feel bad about it, think negative, and beat yourself up, you're never going to move forward. I've found that the best way to pick myself up from any bad habit or negative spiral is to one, accept where I am. The second thing for me is to say, okay me, what can I do about it. The third thing is to make an action plan, and fourth, and last, is to take action every day. This action doesn't have to be big. It can mean planning the action, making a phone call, doing research, talking to a friend, getting perspective, making a pro/con list, just anything. When I take action it just spurs my positivity. Then I start to feel more and more hopeful and before I know it, I've won half the battle in changing something about myself that needed improving.

My biggest message and point to myself in writing Perfect is that nothing and everything is perfect. Different things are perfect for us at different times, and in different situations. We are all perfect versions of ourselves at lots of points and times. I can't always look myself in the mirror and believe that. But when I believe it most of the time, I am happier and more productive. If I'm not comparing myself or beating myself up because I am or am not something I aren't even supposed to be, then I have tons more energy for doing something positive.

When I was in high school and college, I got it into my head that I had to a attain a certain life. It needed to fit the picture in my  mind about how my life should look. I was supposed to go to a great college, get amazing grades, graduate, get the perfect job, meet the perfect guy, and live in a white picket fence house, with two cars, two kids, and a dog. Get the idea? It was impossible for me to live up to this unrealistically high bar.

Still, I tried my hardest to get to this idea of perfect. I got in the college I thought would take me there... and that's when things started to unravel. I did okay, but not great compared to high school, because it was a really tough school. Working even my hardest didn't get me to where I thought I should be grade wise. So, what did I do? I tried to make everything else about myself look perfect. I worked out every day, kept to a strict study schedule, I ate really healthy, like freaky healthy. I became an absolute slave to all this perfect planning. This routine landed me in the hospital in six months later.

When I started writing the "perfect" romance, I thought that there were so many different versions of a perfect love even for one person. Given how many different decisions we can make, how many different variables that come into play, there could be multiples of perfect paths for our lives, which college we choose, which job, where we live, who our friends are, and who we want to date.

Sometimes these choices seem too big when you're young. But if we search inside, get to what we know is the best path for us, our version of perfect will reveal itself, sometimes in unexpected ways. Thisis the whole premise behind Perfect. So, go out and be your perfectly you self today. If you're thinking you'd like to tweak some things, that's great. You are perfectly where you need to be to start on that journey. Be kind to yourself, love yourself, and be patient. Trust your gut, go in a different direction if needed, or just sit and wait till you know what it is you want and where you want to go.

Write it down, say it to yourself. I am the perfect me! I can make my own perfect. My day is perfect just the way it is.

Happy perfect Monday!
Tricia

If you're not signed up for my newsletter, make sure to sign up here because I'm going to have a lot of fun content coming up (keep reading for a sneak peek).

Lichelle added PS I Love You and Isn't it Romantic to the list, and Heidi pitched in The Princess Bride.

And here's what Jeannette, an email subscriber, sent today (thanks Jeannette):

Hi, Tricia.

I like many Romance Movies, including the ones listed.
But, my favorite Romance Movie, for sentimental reasons, is FRENCH KISS with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline.
Why?...Not only is it funny, it tells the tale of a woman overcoming her fear to fly in order to reclaim her man, but ends up finding a better one, her true love, overseas in France, which happens to be the country she always wanted to visit.
I just think it's cute, while entertaining.

Thank you for asking
