The Blackening of the Snow Cranes

How long till they

I’m from the Seattle area originally, but I love Portland and Eugene as well.

One Year On Medium

“person holding sparkler” by Oskars Sylwan on Unsplash

Well, I’ve been a member of Medium for one year. I joined in August 2017 and started actively posting stuff in September. It’s been a mixed ride, but mostly positive.

Since I’ve been here Medium has gotten a new look (good), started the Partner’s Program (really good), and apparently shifted their focus away from average Joe and Josephine writer and publication owners to their own in house publication and big name media (very bad for the writers who rightly feel they are backbone of Medium).

My Personal Highlights

1. I started with 40 followers, mostly from Facebook, and have seen my numbers steadily grow to 1.5k followers as of yesterday.

2. I have become a writer for 20 publications, most of which I publish with regularly. Some of the main ones are listed here.

Thanks To All the Great Publications on Medium that Accept Fiction, Poetry, And Other Types of…

And a special mention for two publications that recently added me as a writer.

RedoubtableOther Doors

Thanks so much guys for accepting my work.

3. I was also asked to write for Chronicle, a very cool literary journal that specializes in short works that can be read easily and quickly.

Chronicle * Fiction for Your Minutes

4. Most important though, is the fantastic community of writers I have met here on Medium. Writing is a lonely business as they say, but throwing my work out into the universe on Medium with all the other wonderful writers here doing the same makes it feel a little less so.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

Thanks for reading and commenting. I appreciate it. I wrote this a while ago, but it has some good info on where to submit short stories, poetry, and novels. I thought you might find it useful. And good luck with your submissions. I hope you get published soon.

Chasing The Enlightenment of a Large Kitchen Appliance

They chase it, enlightenment, satori,
Kundalini. The motionless marathon
on their cushions.A chanted OM, a silent
Sutra, maybe just the repetition
of their breath.

Me, I just want the inside of my brain to
be as tranquil as the background hum of
my kitchen fridge at 3 am on a cool spring
morning.

Thanks so much fir reading and commenting, but as I said I’m convinced that there are physiological explanations for why “mystical” experiences happen. I don’t think there is anything special about them.
