Kent and Deneholes
Kent’s Secret Underground
Deneholes—and the quiet danger they present—feature prominently in my upcoming Regency release, Mr. Darcy’s Folly, out next week on April 24th. (Preorder here).
Without giving too much away, let’s just say that what lies beneath plays a very unexpected role in Darcy and Elizabeth’s journey. There’s history, mystery, and a touch of peril, all while staying true to Austen’s characters. (Heroic Darcy is one of my favorites).
Kent is known for its orchards, hop fields,...

Preview #3 of The Courtship of Elizabeth Darcy

Greetings everyone. Jack Caldwell here.
I am sorry I have been out of commission for a while. I had complications from my cataract surgery last Fall. To be honest, I could not see well enough to write. However, things are much better now, and I have gotten back in the saddle. You’ll be hearing a lot more from me. Whether you enjoy it or not remains to be seen.
You may wish to reread the previous posts. Link to Chapter 1 is HERE, Chapter 2 is HERE.

Better Luck Next Time Pre-Launch
Happy Spring!
If you ask me, Spring is the absolute best time for new books. Why? Because you can hoard them like all the little flowers you want to plant in your garden, and then savor them all summer long. And what a spring it is! As I look around, I see new releases blooming everywhere, and I want to collect them all!
I hope you have room for one more, because I have a yummy one for you. I’ll start with all the checkboxes:

The Greatest Risk-Chapter 1 (Revisited)
Happy Friday, Janeites. This is a post from a few years ago, but now that I am full steam ahead on this “Work In Progress”, I was hoping to get some updated feedback.
–One thing I’ve been asked is if one would have to know the Odyssey to be comfortable reading this novella.
Nope.
–There are a few allusions, but they will be flushed out for the reader to follow along.
–Also, it isn’t a mash-up, so nothing too in depth will occur.
Now, sit back and get ready to begin my tentatively titled novel...

New Release – Gentlemen of Honor
Hello All!
It’s Summer again (the person, not the season). I have a second new release for you.
Some of you may be thinking, how can that be? You just released Dishonorable Gentlemen last week.
Well, I’ve been hoarding manuscripts, like a Book Dragon, but not because I didn’t want to share. Rather, because these two books are a duology and I knew (by which I mean, I hoped) that once you read book one, you wouldn’t want to wait to read book two. So I waited, and waited, and wrote, and wrote, u...

Done for the Best is coming soon!
Hey there JAFF world! I have a new book coming soon and wanted to throw an excerpt out there to see if I might pique your interest! Its got lots of romantic stuff, a dollop of angst, Darcy being heroic, Saye being snarky and a Bingley who wants to shoot off his own leg to avoid an undesirable romantic attachment. And happily ever after of course!
The premise is that Elizabeth, after suffering the bite of an adder and hypoxic brain injury completely forgets her acquaintance with Darcy from autumn...

New Release – Dishonorable Gentlemen + A Free Book!
Hello All! I hope this posts find you well. For those of you who don’t know me well yet, as I’m new to Austen Variations (though not to the world of Austenesque writing), I’m not much of a blogger, but I do love a good newsletter. Therefore, when I bring you a post, it will likely have a newsletter feel to it. I have no idea if that differs from a ‘blog post’ feel. You can be the judge.
Today I bring you a blurb and excerpt from my new variation, Dishonorable Gentlemen. Hopefully you will enjoy...
