The local weather forecasters call these moments of passing sunshine in the Northwest "sunbreaks". When I moved here from FL 16 years ago I thought that term was so funny as I had never heard a meteorologist use that word. Nowadays I live for the sunbreaks and soak em up. Today a sunbreak created some beautiful light in the office/studio and I had to capture it before it was gone.

Playing a bit of hooky today with these two. I'm having a bit of senioritis lately. I wanna be on winter break already and just nest and read and play games and sit by the fire and sleep and eat and watch movies. Who's with me?

Friday night fun with art apps. Totally addicted to the app called "sketches" that allows you to paint with your fingers on your phone. So cool. I then took that painting and imported it into Rhonna Designs app and played with collage. I could do this all day long.

This morning I was in a definite rut. I got out of it with a good heart centered convo with John but part of the rut was realizing that I haven't seen the sun in days and it looks like I won't see it this week either. Now begins the time when us north-westerners adjust to our new normal and start embracing the rain. But there is a part of me, illustrated here, that simply wants to whine and groan.

Dear Santa, Lulu would like for me to inform you that this adorable English bulldog pillow (from anthro) is most definitely on her list. She would also like for me to tell you that she has most certainly been "good", providing all sorts of snorts and snuggles to her humans. Therapy, basically.

Holiday decor makes me happy. Found this golden beauty at Home Goods and paired it with a vintage wreath. The result? LOVE.

Meanwhile she is big enough now to jump on the furniture. I swear she thinks she owns this place and the humans who live here. And let's be honest. She totally does. 
Saturday fluffing and puttering is in full effect. Our living room is on the longer side, making finding a long but wide rug hard to find that is affordable. And so I've been experimenting with creating my perfect sized rug by patchworking smaller rugs together. I think I'm getting there and loving the look. Gonna try angling one of them before putting the chairs and coffee table back.

You know those days where the entire family is off? Off rhythm, and everyone is a little off, too. It was that today. Rough parenting day. Rough boundary day. Rough puppy day. By 1pm I was looking forward to the day being done. Mama said there'd be days like this......and looking forward to a new start tomorrow.

She was on a journey back to her wings... Let's give flight to our souls this week, my friends.

True: "Mom, this lifetime on Earth is SOOOOOOO hard." Me: "Hmmmm, can you tell me more about that?" True: "It's all the picking up of toys. It's just so so soooooo hard." This would be the moment I chuckled on the inside while taking his feelings very seriously, discussing the highs and lows of this "lifetime on Earth" and talking a bit about perspective. And then this photo. He's like straight outta the 1920s or something. I can barely take all this-ness of him.

And then there was this one. Let me tell you. She was a HANDFUL today. And by handful I mean I was pretty sure I was going to pull my hair out all day long. Do you know how hard it is to compose yourself and your thoughts during super important all day Skype meetings while puppy is acting a fool? Omg. But boy is she as cute as she is naughty.

Can you guys believe the season is here? I love love love this season and honestly, the decorations have come out and I'm fluffing, rearranging, and decorating to my heart's delight!
I wanted to share some of my holiday decor pieces with you as they are among some of my favorite things we've ever made! We called this collection the Peace on Earth Collection and here are some of our old and new favorites (the entire collection can be found at the online retailer Garden Gallery), PLUS we've got our holiday prints back up in our shop!

What I love about this collection is that many of its items can be displayed during the holidays, but also everyday – a beautiful mix of themes and earthy colors. 
Holiday Figurines!

Hands down, these figurines are the sweetest. I think they're my favorite figurines we've ever made. I loooovvvveee them. Both are delicately decorated with gold wire, glitter, and silver tinsel wings, and are truly made with love. Perfect for your holiday mantel or dining table!


It's a little hard to see in these photos but the skirts are soft (not hard like resin) and I just love the delicate details of the tiny gold wire wrapping around the skirts, the velvet ribbon, the wings. They're like wintery angels. We put a lot of love in creating the newbies, and I adore how they turned out.

It's a little hard to show the size in this photo, but these are over-sized ornaments - almost 10" high. They're double layered art boards with glitter embellishments and large full color art. Dear Soul,
You are on a remarkable journey
(you're doing a great job)
I came here last year for the first time for a week. I came alone, a thing I had not yet done before. And now I can't imagine not venturing alone whenever possible for some soul care. We are spiritual beings, much much bigger and wider and deeper than the roles we inhabit (mama, wife, friend, career). When we allow our hearts to rest and be still - even if it's 15 minutes a day - we remember, on a spiritual journey level, who we are. I try on the daily to remember my path, my purpose, my heart. But it's hard work and things get muddy and foggy. That's why I'm here in the AZ desert for a bit of immersion soul care. It feels like a reboot, a consciousness camp, a chance to honor all that works and is abundant (joy) in my life but to also recalibrate what need recalibration. We all need this. To tend to the inner landscapes of our hearts, to honor where we've been and to get excited about where we're going. We are so much more than our roles. We are powerful souls on a deep deep mission to heal and learn and evolve. We must find the time to honor that with more stillness. I'm learning this lesson big this week. Big big big.
