Celebrating 10 years in business with a HUGE one time only gift to you. Don't miss this post.

Ten years ago this month, I did one of the craziest, scariest things I had ever done. I was 30 years old at the time, working as a medical social worker. I loved being a social worker, but my heart began to grow restless and my profession no longer fit who I was, and who I was becoming.
I wanted to be a working artist. And so, I made three simple (but huge + scary in my mind) moves that had a ripple effect I could have never anticipated. The moves I made?
1) I went to irs.gov and applied for an Employee Identification Number (EIN), making my little hobby of art-making a legit business.
2) I bought a $500 printer so that I could make prints of my artwork to sell. This seemed crazy at the time. Who buys a $500 printer unless you're a "real" artist or photographer, and I certainly didn't consider myself a legit artist (yet), but I was so full of hope.
3) I opened an Etsy shop to sell said prints.
The rest is history and my life and art career unfolded in beautiful, fast, hard, thrilling, scary, joyful ways.
This 10 year celebration feels really big, friends. And I want to kick it off with a gigantic offering to you. So....

To celebrate 10 years of being an artist and creative biz owner, and to celebrate all of YOU, I'm offering up a huge bundle sale - this is a one time only sale, and will not happen again.
For just $149, you get ALL of my ecourses, including my soul stirring mantra painting ecourse (usually $247), my angel painting ecourse (usually $247), my popular ebook on how to build a creative biz (usually $140), and my Wear Your Joy ecourse (usually $69).
A value of $703 for $149.
What??? Yes, it is true. And I'm crazy excited about it.
I'll only celebrate 10 years in biz once, and this sale will only happen once, too.
Get in while you can.
Sale promptly ends in 72 hours (Friday, March 11th, Midnight PST).

My gift to you!
Here's how to get it all for just $149:

I’ll help you create a mantra (or two, or three, or four) that speaks to your soul — and then we’ll paint them into life using all of my beloved and easy mixed media techniques. Hello paint, paper, ink, and getting beautifully messy with our hands. “Thank you for being so generous and thorough in everything you covered! I’ve taken several e-courses and read many e-books, but this is by far the most practical and actually makes me feel like I can do it. Awesome.”
This E-book is a game changer. I answer all your practical questions while sharing my own personal stories of what’s worked, and what hasn’t worked as I built my creative business. Jam-packed with concrete information and tips so that you, too, can create your own success. The testimonials pour in each week (thank you) + I’m grateful for the opportunity to offer up information that I wish I had had when I started my own creative business.
Click here for all the details on the ebook. Remember, to get it all four offerings for $149, please follow the instructions above.

“What has been so tender and unexpected for me is how transformative being kind to yourself can be…this process is about so much more than fashion, or “what looks good on me” it’s about celebrating your soul and adorning it accordingly! I am beginning to really SEE myself…and hold and care for myself like a dear loved-one.”
My newest offering, this is a 30 day course for a practice I’ve been doing for a couple of years that I call The Wear Your Joy Project. It changed my life, and I feel called to gather of tribe of souls who want to make the call of their hearts visible – and wearable. Like any good practice (a yoga practice, a gratitude practice, etc), the practice of intentionally getting dressed up in joy will open your heart and awaken new ways of seeing yourself. In so many ways, this course is about remembering who we are. Because when we turn our attention toward anything with intention, we raise its vibration, its meaningfulness, its consciousness.
Click here for all the details on this course. Remember, to get it all four offerings for $149, please follow the instructions above.

Well hello Friday morning! Today it's work in the studio, a lunch date with a dear friend, an appt with my naturopath (feeling better, getting there), and playtime at the dog park with Miss Lulu. Have a great Friday, friends.

Hi friends, I wanna round out this week with a huge thank you. First, I wanted to say a sincere thank you for your response to last week's annual Flying Lessons Ebook Sale. I love knowing that so many of you are going for it, trusting in your possibilities, and creating the lives that are calling. Just makes me happy. Thanks again for your support and for trusting me, my stories, and all that I've learned along the way in my own creative biz path. It means the world. I also want to say thank you for all the amazing comments you left in the post where I shared the video about my journey. I feel so seenand celebrated and I can't wait for what's ahead in our journeys together. Xxo by@zipporahlomax

Not sure how I haven't read this book before now, but it's a new favorite and classic for me. For anybody who feels any sort of creative urge (that's you writers, poets, painters, photographers, everyone), and the potential isolation and burdens as well as the immense inspiration, these letters will feed your heart and leave you feeling seen and understood. I have always loved Rilke but these letters he wrote to a young creative are GOLD.

This post from my friend @lacylike got me all like YES. I am so in this learning path lately. Had to share with you.
How we eat is just as important if not MORE important than what we eat.
Yes, it's a good idea to eat healthy foods. That will always be true. But there's so much more to explore here. The energy that you bring to your meals is HUGE.
I have been experimenting with my own mindset around food lately (and you know how I love a good experiment!). I'm finding over and over again that HOW I eat, the environment I create for myself, the things I say to myself while eating, the way I chew and when I stop eating all effects how the food digests and my own body image.
Something for you to try:
What if you brought the belief that everything that enters your mouth is going to expertly nourish your body?
What if you could sincerely look at your food and see it's potential no matter what it is? You'll find that you become an expert truth teller and foods that have little potential begin to feel like the fakes that they are.
What if you really looked at your food and said thank you to it before you began eating?
Give these a try for a day and see what you notice. Get ready for your mind to be blown. p.s. full post on my experiment findings + recipe for collard green stir fry at lacyyoung.com/blog

Here's to letting the fears go, my friends...

You guys. What a day. Tuesday's are usually my days for admin stuff and today has been quite full of just that. You KNOW you love what you do when you look forward to tackling the long lists! I did manage a couple of long walks with Lulu and John and soaked in the sunshine that was offered up. I can sense Spring is close, which means there is literally light at the end of this long stretch. The crocus and daffodils are abloom which, you know, makes me grateful to be here and alive for another season.

Up super late over here (almost 11pm). I'm usually in bed by 830 (sleep is one of my strict self-care practices), but I was in an energetic groove for the evening and ran with it. Anyway, found this photo of Lulu from a few months ago. Oh man, this dog. One of the things I love most about dog ownership is all the walks and park dates that are involved. Also, you know how people always smile at /toward you if you're toting a baby or toddler? I SWEAR the same thing happens to me now. If I'm walking her, anyone coming toward is us is smiling because, hello, her face is giggle worthy. And I just love the added energy of smiles in my daily life. So good. Thanks, Lulu!

I've been giving myself a lot of pep/truth talks lately. There are seasons of absolute ease and there are seasons of downright hustling. The contrast is good. I thrive in these times of working hard to get to a destined place (devotion). Right now I'm hustling for better health (getting my 2nd IV immune booster today and I can definitely tell I'm improving overall with added adrenal supports). I'm also hustling (in a good way) toward some deadlines (ahem, alivelines) that are both super exciting but require downright old fashioned hard work. Meanwhile I'm loving on my family and letting them love on me. I'm working and collaborating with an amazing team of people.
The focused effort of what can be created in family and biz astounds me. How we can work toward our vision and then have it happen slowly feels like one long lifetime of slowly opening the best present ever. There are sneak peeks along the way, anticipation, trepidation, strategy, caring, and ultimately a complete opening of a bundle of profound goodness given and made with love.
Also, I'm dreaming of summer.

10 Joyful Years: A Preview of one long CELEBRATION with you!

Hi friends,
First, I wanted to say a sincere thank you for your response to last week's annual Flying Lessons Sale. I love knowing that so many of you are going for it, trusting in your possibilities, and creating the lives that are calling. Just makes me happy. Thanks again for your support and for trusting me, my stories, and all that I've learned along the way in my own creative biz path. It means the world.

Also, speaking of creative business milestones, this year marks my 10th year (crazy!) of not just declaring myself an "artist" but also opening up my online shop and selling my very first originals and prints. Hard to believe all that has happened as a result of that specific leap all those years ago. I am so grateful.
My dear friends, family, but especially Nichole & Betsy (my main business supports) have encouraged me to celebrate this big milestone all year long. And that's what we're gonna do!
I have so much goodness coming up this year, much of it involving YOU. I deeply want to honor and acknowledge this beautiful community that has, in many ways, held space for me, supported me, and cheered me on as I've made my way.
Here's a bit of what's coming down the pipe, all in celebration of 10 years:
New Website!
A brand spankin' new website is coming next month. You guys. My current website went up in 2009. I'm way overdue for a new one and I'm over the freakin moon with the new design and functionality. We've got a new logo, a new tag line, a new way of reading the blog, a new LOOK! Also, students will have an obvious login page for ecourses (hallelujah!). Also, a whole new shop. New videos, photos, and a few more surprises, too. OMG!
Here's a sneek peak of the new home page (gorgeous, no?). Designed by the incredible Jo Klima. I can't wait to show you the whole thing next month!

Here's a sneak peek of one of the new videos that will live on the new site. It made me cry. Susan Roderick created the video and I am so stunned and inspired by her work and feeling mighty grateful we had the opportunity to work together. Wow!
Giving away ALL original paintings in 2016!
Another way of celebrating 10 years.....I'm giving away every single original painting I create this year. I'm specifically giving them away to folks who are subscribers to my newsletter. Be sure to sign up to my newsletter so you don't miss out on this opportunity. I did this a couple of years back - gave away my originals - and it felt SO GOOD. I'm excited to do it again.
Many other giveaways!
Speaking of giveaways, I'll be hosting a HUGE week of giveaways in the coming months that will feature giant baskets of my gift products. DEMDACO is sponsoring this giveaway, donating hundreds of my gift and decor products. It's going to be massive with many many winners and I can't wait!
Lots of sales!
Of course, what's a big celebration without a great sale? And there will be many - big ones. I'm super excited about these....coming soon and all year long!
A look back!

I started writing this blog in 2006, and I wrote many many blog posts about my story as I made my way into the creative life as well as into business. In celebration of ten years, I'm going to pull out the gems and repost them throughout this year as way to look back, honor, and reflect on the journey. This should be fun and eye opening especially the posts sharing my earliest paintings - boy have I come a long way. We all start somewhere :)
Community Inspired Paintings! One of the things I'm most excited about doing is creating new paintings, inspired by YOUR stories. More details coming soon, but look for an upcoming newsletter with all the details. I can't wait to do this new painting series. It's going to be magical.
A Party!

And last but not least, this summer I'm gathering folks who have helped me along the way - various women in biz, friends, collaborators, family, business partners, and more - for an event here in Portland. I'm nervous, excited. It's going to be my first actual event that will have all sorts of things happening - catering, photobooth, music, food, drinks - a real actual party with real actual planning. Again, I'm equal parts terrified and thrilled. Having never thrown a party, I'm thinking (hoping) these mixed up emotions are par for the course.
Gratitude!

Thank you over and over. I'm so grateful to have landed here. It's not lost on me that none of it would have happened without this amazing community. Thank you for supporting me, guiding me, and journeying with me. I'm so excited to celebrate 10 wild joyful years with you all year long!
Love,
Kelly Rae

Spent a full and amazing day with Susan Roderick. Friends, if there is one golden rule I have in biz it is this: ONLY work with people (including accountants, freelancers, etc) that you genuinely like, folks that aren't just skilled at what they do but people who are kindreds. Every time I haven't followed this rule, I've regretted it. But this is Susan Roderick and I definitely don't regret working with her. Can't wait to show you the stunning videos we've been working on when my new website launches next month. They have made a few folks cry! She is a talented GEM and I can't recommend her enough for any of you who need a creative videographer.

A rare block of hours all to myself at home. The to do list is long, y'all, but I'm listening to my spirit and body and soul. Gonna sit my booty down on the couch, start the fire, and finish reading this super amazing read. I might even take a nap.

Our reward system for True is quite simple: he earns tickets for various choices and behaviors and just like at the arcade, he can cash in his tickets for stuff. The "stuff" are things that he's chosen ahead of time. 10 tickets for a small toy. 20 tickets for a trip to the ice cream shop. 50 tickets for a trip to the bike play gym. Stuff like that.
I love his enthusiasm. If you were here he would very enthusiastically and with much animation tell you about how he earns these tickets and how he plans to use them.
Go True! Also, can I just say how precious these fingers are to me? Look closely and you'll see remnants of his favorite gold glittery nail polish.

Sunday. Currently getting some emails answered in this cozy room. Then moving on to a shower and a girlie get together at my house later this afternoon. Also, the Sun is fully out today in Portland and I'm stoked about it. Monday, February 8

I promise to create, play, dance, and sing with you.
Joyful, creative abandon will be valued.
I promise to teach you about how to be brave in sadness and brave in love.
There will be pain, fear, joy and love.
I will be with you, side by side, to guide you through all of it.
I promise to show up, be present, and truly engaged when we're together.
I want you to feel seen and heard.
I promise to practice gratitude with you so we can feel joy and abundance in all things.
I promise to provide a safe, nurturing home where you have full permission to be who you are.
May our spirits be connected, always.
May you always know how deeply you are loved, how your life shines brightly and how your heart is never alone.

Have you guys seen Amy Butler's new book with Chronicle Books? It's an explosion of eye candy. I've been a HUGE fan of Amy's for years and my mom and I have been buying her fabric for what seems like ever. I've had the privilege of working with her and I can say that she is one of the most lovely and warm and authentic folks in the biz. Also, I'm delighted to be featured in this book (a dream). Congratulations, Amy! It's GORGEOUS!

Sunday, February 1
