Going Indie #10 ~ All That the Heart Desires poster no. 2

As the publication date (by the way: Monday 20th June 2016) of my novel All That the Heart Desires is coming soon, today I'm showing off another beautiful poster for it.

Don't be mistaken, it's not my creation.

This one was done by another friend of mine, very creative Emma Calin who among helping me and other writers, writes Suspense Romance Stories, Gritty Short Stories and Modern Interactive Fairy Tales For Children.

We all know the word of mouth is the best, but when it is supported by posters, well...

Going Indie #9 ~ All That the Heart Desires poster no. 1

For a long time now, I have known I'll never be able to do everything. Not that I'm being lazy or stupid not to learn the craft, but due to the lack of time. The day has only twenty-four hours, and in those hours I need to squeeze in almost everything I MUST and I WISH to do.

It's not easy, so there must be decisions made what I can and am able to do.

One of things I think at least for the foreseeable future I'll never really truly master is - making the amazing add posters for my novel(s).

And then - long distance friends step in. It's really is astonishing to realise I have so many of them.

I always admired posters from Pauline Barclay. They were/are always eye catching. So not so long ago when she posted her last on Facebook, I asked her how she does them and she told me and explained, but not being computer savvy... well you can imagine (sorry Pauline).

But then the next day Pauline surprised me sending me two of her creations for my novel. I never expected her to do, but she did. And I can't thank her enough for it.

Do you want to see it? Here it is... Isn't it fab?

Making a reader

OH always supported me - on my writing journey. It was like that from the start.

When we first met fourteen years ago, he knew I was writing and publishing my stories in magazines. He went with me when I signed my first, second and third publishing contract. He agreed with me when I decided to... well, he was always there, supportive no matter what I decided.
The only thing he didn't do was, ever read any of my books, short stories. I didn't resent that, because I knew he had basically read his last book in high school. I never thought that Romance could be the genre he’d read. Ever. But he surprised me. Truly.
When I got a print proof of my first novel - All That the Heart Desires - and after I showed it around, shared it with my colleagues and friends, I had found it last week after I came home from work in the afternoon, on a side table in our sitting room with a bookmark in it.
At first I tried to remember if I marked some flaw in it, but then I knew I didn't. OH sat on the sofa with our son Patrik playing his favourite game with him. I picked the book up and went through it to see where the bookmark was and it was already on a page 50.
Wow! Wait a minute! What?  He came home with our children half an hour before me and he was already on page fifty? 50!!!
"Honey, are you reading it?" I said innocently.  OH looked at me sheepishly while tickling Patrik and said:"Yes, I am. Gosh, you could say it's good. The sense of the details. I saw it all, like I was there."
I was... speechless. Even more, when he finished it in four days. After he did ~ and he knows I have another one ready to be published, and another... - he said:"I really don't know what I'll do tomorrow. When are you planning to publish the next one?"
'Wait! What?!'
Even our daughter Loris was surprised when she saw him on the sofa reading. I had to laugh when I had heard her say:"This is so strange. Mum is cooking (it was Saturday and I always cook on Saturdays) and Dad is reading? It's so odd."
I know this looks like I'm tooting my own horn, but I'm really glad if I managed to make another reader. Believe me, in all our history together, I can count on one hand the times I have seen him reading a book.

p.s. He's already planning our trip to Nice...

Going Indie #7 ~ Thunderclap campaign

Going 'indie' wasn’t an easy decision for me. But at least I know everything depends on me.And by ' everything ', I mean marketing and sales promotions.
Being signed by the small press in the past I had a false feeling that the majority of this work would be done by them. After all I did sign my author's rights to them.
Don't get me wrong, I knew I'd have to promote myself through social media a lot and I did, but I was wrong to think they'd actually put some work into marketing/sales promotion. Well, we learn as we go, right?
Although I worked in sales for a quite a number of years and was successful in the field, I had never been asked to promote 'me' or my work.
When it comes to that I tell the truth - like it is - about me. Sometimes I rather keep my accomplishments for myself than to blow my own horn. To be honest, I had failed quite a number of job interviews just because of that fact. Crazy, right? But that's who I am.
And now I'm on a crossroad. I can stay this way - I know I can - or I can overcome myself and try to do my best to reach my goal I set for myself a few months ago.
By exploring the field of marketing and possibilities that are out there, I came across Thunderclap. How does it work? Basically:
“Thunderclap amplifies your message with the power of the crowd.”
At least that’s what is written on their homepage.
So here it goes. This is the link to my Thunderclap campaign.
 Thunderclap Campaign - 20th June 2016
I'd really appreciate if you could join in - helping me spreading the word about a publication date of my novel. It's simple to join in – just a click or two, nothing more and on 20th June 2016 they'll send out on your behalf my message. All I need to do is – get your support - a support of at least 100 people.
Thank you.

Going Indie #6 - Preorder or Order

Well, this certainly wasn't my idea, but it looks like it's out of my hands... Who knew.

This is another thing I need to learn to do it properly in the future…
So, as you know - the idea was/is:

and it is - still set like that on Amazon, but only for a Kindle version of it.
But if you are eager to have the book, before that date - you can. 'How?' you ask.
Ummm... When I put my novel on Create Space, I had no idea that they don't offer a possibility for a preorder so when they linked Kindle version with Paperback - the paperback version went live and it's possible to order.
Here are the links to buy a PAPERBACK version
CREATE SPACE - All That the Heart Desires AMAZON COM - All That the Heart Desires AMAZON UK -All That the Heart Desires AMAZON EU - All That the Heart Desires
I hope you'll enjoy reading it at least half as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Going Indie #5 ~ It's done

I actually did it! I pushed the button. OK, I should have written "buttons" as there were several of them and at the end TWO final ones. Yes, two. One for e-book and one for paperback version.
Publication Date:

Midsummer
20th June, 2016

Right now my novel "All That the Heart Desires" is available for preorder on Amazon as an e-book version ~ here are some links:

E-book:
Amazon US : All That the Heart Desires
Amazon UK : All That the Heart Desires
Amazon EU : All That the Heart Desires
and of course on all the other Amazon's sites around the world.

And for you who don't read e-books and prefer the 'old fashioned way', a paperback edition ~ I still need to review the proof ~ I'm waiting for. As soon as I've sorted that out - I'll let you know. Soon!

Be prepared for another shout out!

Going Indie #4 ~ Push the button

To be honest; I'm far away from being calm.
I've done it all. Wrote the novel, got it edited, proof-read, already published once (under a different title, the one my ex publisher chose it), got my rights back, got a new cover for it, formatted it, right now doing a Book Cover Reveal tour and now... the only thing that's waiting for me is to put it back on sale.
And here I'm stuck. I did some research where and how to publish. Self-publish of course. Amazon Kindle Publishing/Create space or to go with some company that does that under my name, for a monthly fee.
I made my decision, but something is holding me back to finish the process of making my novel available on the market again. I'm doing everything else, but making that final step, with pushing that 'PUBLISH' button. Why is that, I don't really know.
The novel got some pretty good reviews on Amazon and Goodreads when it was available for sale, so I can't really say that I'm afraid of bad reviews and failure... or perhaps I’m mistaken...

Book Cover Reveal ~ All That the Heart Desires

So here it is!
~ A brand new book cover for my first novel 'All That the Heart Desires'

(formerly known as 'Racing Heart')

Since the day I got my author's rights back I was wondering what to do and the decision was actually easy. I decided to put my novel back on the market, under its initial title (the one I submitted my novel with) and with a totally new cover.

The cover was made by Elle J Rossi from EJR Digital Art. She totally understood my complicated wishes and instructions. And she is really easy to work with. I really have to thank her for everything.

And one more thing - it's going to be available as a paperback. Here is the paperback cover version. It's eye catching, right?

I think my decision is the right one. I'm not a quitter and I have faith in it as in the rest that will definitely follow.
For the time being I'm going to dive in the 'Indie way' of publishing. I might be surprised at what I'll learn...

By the way... do come back to my blog ~ I'm planning to re-publish in June, but I don't have a date yet. First I must figure out how to put everything that I now have ready ~ on Amazon.
Another lesson to master!

Wish me luck!
