Some things about Project Human

You might have heard about my upcoming April Camp NaNoWriMo project, aptly titled Project Human. No?

It's a speculative future duology taking place in the year 2120, where androids are as common as cars. It's a story that I've been sitting on for some time ever since a few years ago I said to myself "I want to write a robot book" and has now finally come to fruition. The elevator pitch is this: I, Robot meets Divergent meets Real Steel featuring a rogue android prototype and a teenage girl who's an android program hacker."

Interesting, right?

Now I'm going to be terribly lazy and copy/paste information from the official page on Inkshares...

Hailey Ennon is a 17 year-old girl known best for her ability as an android hacker, her skill-set hired mainly by fighters who re-program their android models for the widespread, and yet highly illegal, sport that pits androids against each other.

Ander is a mysterious android Hailey discovers, and she uses him as her fighter in the blackmarket arenas to try and earn herself a better life, but Ander is the most unique, confusing android out there...

For more information (and to sign up for updates) on the world of Project Human you can follow its a Inkshare page and also browse through my Pinterest board I have up for it. And most recently, I started a Spotify playlist for this series.

Happy Monday, everyone!

A List of Rambling Thoughts

It's the slow part of the afternoon for me as I type this post, a dreary time of day where my mind wanders but my brain refuses to form a proper connection that would result in working (definition: writing/revising the drafts of my 2016 projects). Instead I browse through Pinterest and revel in the many, many GIFS that exist for my fandoms.

And write this random blog post.

But, this is a post full of vague spoilers and hints about upcoming projects. Ah, but not the projects I mentioned in my previous post, nope. Way, way future projects that I am 99.9% sure I will write and publish one day, hopefully within the next 5-7 years.

Thinking far, I am.

-------------

The LIST:
I will disclose the genre of said series as well as possible hints, but for the sake of secrecy I won't go beyond that. I love sharing stories, but until they're written/in the process of being written, I won't say much about upcoming projects because I want to keep my ideas.

Planned trilogies: (4)

- Afterwards

- A dystopian trilogy reminiscent of Maze Runner & Hunger Games; lots of inner rebellion and betrayal in this one. Also a fun fact: first actual completed YA novel I ever wrote.

- An urban futuristic paranormal dystopian: think The 100 meets the Shadowhunters world.

- A historical fantasy re-imagining of Mary Poppins (I'm in love with the concepts I have for this.)

Planned duologies: (2)

- Futuristic thriller with plenty of intrigue and romance: think The Selection meets Matrix.

- Contemporary urban paranormal: think Beautiful Creatures meets The Raven Boys.

Planned novels: (14)

- Mersong

- Project Human

- Contemporary new-adult romance

- Contemporary YA romance

- A re-imagining of The Phantom of the Opera: taking from both the original French novel and the musical. (Really, really, really in love with this one.)

- Retelling of The Time Machine because there are so many open ends left (in my opinion) and it's one of my all-time favorite classic sci-fi books.

- Historical fiction based in South Africa and set in the 19th century

- Historical fiction alternate fantasy world set in early Arabia: think Hidalgo meets The Scorpio Races.

- Retelling/re-imagining of Peter Pan.

- Victorian horror fiction (feat. zombies) that I came up with long before PPZ was a thing.

- Fantasy political drama (with a dash of forbidden love)

- A monster story where a girl has been friends with the monster under her bed for years.

- Contemporary new-adult rich girl/bad boy

Planned series: (4)

- Modern faeries with a twist.

- A twist on Wonderland

- Middle grade 5 book series with a snarky heroine as the narrator and plenty of superhero action.

- Epic fantasy involving dragon riders, multiple kingdoms, a huge backplot, many characters, lots of plot twists. (Fun fact: this is to date one of my longest story ideas ever that keeps on growing and evolving over the years. It will be quite a project once I start really working on it, but it's a challenge I'm looking forward to.)

Random:

- Scribbles: A Collection of Words

- A secondary Scribbles with 10-12 short stories. (Fun fact: these collections evolved from ideas I had and couldn't let go, but weren't enough to merit writing an entire book/series.)

- Wanderful Musings My first and probably only poetry collection.

- Spun Again Tales novella series, because the retellings I have in mind aren't long enough to be novels or short enough to be short stories, but I have about 10 fairytales I have set to be retold, both classic and little-known.

- A contemporary novella with the elements of both thrillers and mystery, young-adult and romance... working title is Coincidence and I have yet to decide when I want to publish this, but it is a set idea that is going to be written within the next year or so.

-------------

Now, while some of these may seem similar to the other (and once I finally wrote all of these down I can narrow down my preferred audience to definitely Young-Adult, with sub-genres of dystopian, sci-fi, paranormal, magical, and fantasy... with a few trips down contemporary lane) that is probably a result of me working my hardest not to give too much of the plots/scenarios away.

There are also about 10 other floater ideas I have for other stories but right now these are the most concrete. Most of them are still evolving, a few are pretty cemented in my head, and all are definite future projects.

I'd love to hear from people what they think about my future stories, and I probably might divulge even more information should a comment thread start up, hint hint.

A Glimpse of the Future (feat. Minions)

This is going to be a post that probably should have been written in the first week of January instead of February, but...

So I'm starting my writing year now, officially that is. And I have 5 definite projects I'm going to be working on, very awesome projects.

Project #1: Afterwards
Now on my writing worktable and set to undergo some extreme revising & polishing in time for hopeful submission to publishers in the Fall... and just in time for me to start (finally) writing the sequel in this planned trilogy.

Project #2: Mersong
This is another revision of a VERY old story of mine, one that I half-finished when I was about 15, so yeah there's a little bit of a time span there with this one. I'm going to start posting this on Wattpad a chapter a week, starting in April.
Read the first chapter now: https://www.wattpad.com/story/6030101...

Project #3: Scribbles: A Collection of Words
Still wrangling with a couple stories on this one, as they really don't want to be tamed. But I shall prevail!
And as a reminder, I'm still running my pre-order funding in an attempt to publish this here through Inkshares and if you could stop by and order a copy (from $10-$20) you will have my gratitude forever!

Project #4: Wanderful Musings
My collection of poetry that I've written through the years, and I'm finally editing it to publish through CreateSpace, planning on doing this sometime in the summer.
And in the meantime, my poetry is available to read on Wattpad: https://www.wattpad.com/story/3536611...

And finally... (wait for it)... something new!!!

Project #5!!! Project Human
It's a single novel set 100 years into the future, and I'm pitching it as I-Robot meets Divergent meets Real Steel. I'm going to start officially working on it during the July Camp NaNoWriMo, and once it's finished I'm going to open it up for pre-order on Inkshares.
Pssst, follow me on Inkshares for exclusive sneak peeks AND chapters.

So there you have it, the plan for my writing in 2016. But seeing as I'm always learning, tripping over myself on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis, this is subject to change. Something may get added on if I get inspired to work on one of my other upcoming projects (these have yet to be disclosed mwhahaha) or a project may hit an unexpected bump. One of the absolute best things about writing, is that I really don't 100% know what's going to happen. I just sit down with an idea in my mind and let my imagination go wild.

And as always, I adore each and every one of you who takes the time to read these rambling and sporadic posts of mine. Every one who reads my drabblings on Wattpad, or even adds my book to their to-read shelf here on Goodreads. Every time someone shows love to my stories, it gives me even more incentive to keep on dreaming and writing those dreams.

Happy Monday, y'all.

One Week

It is official as official gets: one week today until Five Minutes will be available for purchase!

I'm beyond excited, which puts me somewhere between exhausted and emotionless -- it's been something working on turning a simple Word document into a print-ready file that will be turned into a lovely paperback, but oh so worth it.

Now, don't forget that I have two giveaways up and running for Five Minutes; one here on Goodreads and an international (yep, you read that right, international) one through Rafflecopter.

Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh... (US only)

Rafflecopter: https://www.rafflecopter.com/rafl/dis... (International)

I've also got the 2nd chapter up on Wattpad to further whet your appetites for the 19th: https://www.wattpad.com/207726529-fiv...

Beyond the Five Minutes hustle and bustle, my story collection Scribbles: A Collection of Words still needs funding on Inkshares to reach 250 orders so I can publish through this publisher. It will include Five Minutes, as well as 9 other stories of all different genres and styles. It's been a blast to write, and I'd love for it to be available for everyone to read.

Also, my dystopian trilogy Afterwards is heading into my "workshop" for a revision - super excited about that. It's a project I've been dreaming about and planning for years now, as well as my first NaNoWriMo win, and once I have a polished draft I hope to start the submission process for traditional publishing sometime in the Fall. Exciting, right?
(Hint: for a look at Afterwards , check out my Pinterest boardfor it.)

Anyway, stay awesome, and live long and prosper.

Cheers!

On Publication & Giveaways

My new year means new writing and new news! (Have fun reading that, ha!) But for January it means Five Minutes coming to paperback.

Let's keep this short and sweet, shall we?

On January 19th, my novella Five Minutes will be available for purchase through Amazon. If you want signed copies, you can enter to win the two giveaways I have.

Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh... (US only)

Rafflecopter: https://www.rafflecopter.com/rafl/dis... (International)

My absolutely amazing artist, Lizzy, has struck again with the cover for Five Minutes

And here is the official blurb:

"Life is never, ever, normal."

Rachel struggles to make ends meet. With an absent mother and a dad who won't keep a job, her life is composed of one worry after another.

Lind lives in a five minute loop of amnesia. Haunted by a mysterious tragedy, he is desperate for his memories . . . but terrified of the hidden past.

As the two teens are drawn to each other, Lind’s fate gives Rachel the strength to push past her own troubled past, and Rachel is the girl Lind is determined to remember.

I am beyond excited to share this story with you, and I can't wait until the 19th. If you're as excited as I am, feel free to comment here or tweet me @TabbyCatGurl

Cheers!

NaNoWriMo Time!

If you haven't noticed, I love making my titles both catchy and punny...get the reference for this one?

'Tis the time of frantic fingers typing desperate words, right? Okay, so maybe not that poetic, but that description sums up how I take the month of November. Two years ago I started a terrible story (I might get back to it, but there's a high chance that I won't) involving Norse myths, Jack Frost, and yetis...and then the last week of November I switched to something different and had the rough draft for Afterwards, the first book in a planned trilogy.

This November, I'm thick in the revising and polishing of my short stories for Scribbles: A Collection of Words *clears throat* which you can pre-order on Inkshares (please do!) as well as revising what I am quite positive is the finalized plot version of Afterwards.

Big things, yeah? I think so, too.

So, comment time - and please do comment! I'm okay with the sensation of talking to myself whilst writing these blog posts, but some interaction would be lovely =) - how is your NaNoWriMo going? What's the project(s) you're working on?

Hope everyone is having as much fun as I am!
