A List of Rambling Thoughts
It's the slow part of the afternoon for me as I type this post, a dreary time of day where my mind wanders but my brain refuses to form a proper connection that would result in working (definition: writing/revising the drafts of my 2016 projects). Instead I browse through Pinterest and revel in the many, many GIFS that exist for my fandoms.
And write this random blog post.
But, this is a post full of vague spoilers and hints about upcoming projects. Ah, but not the projects I mentioned in my previous post, nope. Way, way future projects that I am 99.9% sure I will write and publish one day, hopefully within the next 5-7 years.
Thinking far, I am.
-------------
The LIST:
I will disclose the genre of said series as well as possible hints, but for the sake of secrecy I won't go beyond that. I love sharing stories, but until they're written/in the process of being written, I won't say much about upcoming projects because I want to keep my ideas.
Planned trilogies: (4)
- Afterwards
- A dystopian trilogy reminiscent of Maze Runner & Hunger Games; lots of inner rebellion and betrayal in this one. Also a fun fact: first actual completed YA novel I ever wrote.
- An urban futuristic paranormal dystopian: think The 100 meets the Shadowhunters world.
- A historical fantasy re-imagining of Mary Poppins (I'm in love with the concepts I have for this.)
Planned duologies: (2)
- Futuristic thriller with plenty of intrigue and romance: think The Selection meets Matrix.
- Contemporary urban paranormal: think Beautiful Creatures meets The Raven Boys.
Planned novels: (14)
- Mersong
- Project Human
- Contemporary new-adult romance
- Contemporary YA romance
- A re-imagining of The Phantom of the Opera: taking from both the original French novel and the musical. (Really, really, really in love with this one.)
- Retelling of The Time Machine because there are so many open ends left (in my opinion) and it's one of my all-time favorite classic sci-fi books.
- Historical fiction based in South Africa and set in the 19th century
- Historical fiction alternate fantasy world set in early Arabia: think Hidalgo meets The Scorpio Races.
- Retelling/re-imagining of Peter Pan.
- Victorian horror fiction (feat. zombies) that I came up with long before PPZ was a thing.
- Fantasy political drama (with a dash of forbidden love)
- A monster story where a girl has been friends with the monster under her bed for years.
- Contemporary new-adult rich girl/bad boy
Planned series: (4)
- Modern faeries with a twist.
- A twist on Wonderland
- Middle grade 5 book series with a snarky heroine as the narrator and plenty of superhero action.
- Epic fantasy involving dragon riders, multiple kingdoms, a huge backplot, many characters, lots of plot twists. (Fun fact: this is to date one of my longest story ideas ever that keeps on growing and evolving over the years. It will be quite a project once I start really working on it, but it's a challenge I'm looking forward to.)
Random:
- Scribbles: A Collection of Words
- A secondary Scribbles with 10-12 short stories. (Fun fact: these collections evolved from ideas I had and couldn't let go, but weren't enough to merit writing an entire book/series.)
- Wanderful Musings My first and probably only poetry collection.
- Spun Again Tales novella series, because the retellings I have in mind aren't long enough to be novels or short enough to be short stories, but I have about 10 fairytales I have set to be retold, both classic and little-known.
- A contemporary novella with the elements of both thrillers and mystery, young-adult and romance... working title is Coincidence and I have yet to decide when I want to publish this, but it is a set idea that is going to be written within the next year or so.
-------------
Now, while some of these may seem similar to the other (and once I finally wrote all of these down I can narrow down my preferred audience to definitely Young-Adult, with sub-genres of dystopian, sci-fi, paranormal, magical, and fantasy... with a few trips down contemporary lane) that is probably a result of me working my hardest not to give too much of the plots/scenarios away.
There are also about 10 other floater ideas I have for other stories but right now these are the most concrete. Most of them are still evolving, a few are pretty cemented in my head, and all are definite future projects.
I'd love to hear from people what they think about my future stories, and Iprobably might divulge even more information should a comment thread start up, hint hint.
