The Perfect Summer Read: Christine Glover’s The Tycoon’s Red Hot Marriage Merger
Christine Glover
Today I’m excited to welcome Christine Glover. Grab an iced cold beverage and get prepared for a hot read! Her new romance The Tycoon’s Red Hot Marriage Merger is what I call the perfect summer read. First a little about her.
Christine Glover is the author of sensual, sizzling, emotional contemporary romances where two lost souls find each other and discover home. She resides in Alabama with her husband, two insane cats and her wonderful daughter. She enjoys finding the silly in the serious, making wine out of sour grapes, and giving people giggle fits along with heartfelt hugs. When she’s not writing, you can find her traveling the world, cooking gourmet food, and desperately seeking a corkscrew.
Take it away, Christine…
Hi Nancee,
Thanks so much for inviting me to visit your blog. I love all your questions and had fun answering them!
Tell us about The Tycoon’s Red Hot Marriage Merger.
Will this marriage of convenience’s sexy side benefits breakdown the barriers to his heart?
Geeky mathematician, Cassandra Nelson, proposes to her father’s sworn enemy to protect her family’s shipbuilding corporation from a takeover. Regatta racing tycoon, Marco Delgado, knows their union is a quick ticket into the society that shunned him after a devastating boating crash. He agrees, but expects a permanent commitment; one with sizzling side benefits. And, after a Vegas wedding, he unleashes Cassandra’s inner vixen during a steaming hot honeymoon in Argentina while aboard his yacht.
Cassandra never calculated falling in love into their equation, but there’s more than desire and passion flaring between them. Soon she believes they can have so much more than a sexy bargain on paper. But when Cassandra’s secrets are revealed, during a reception held in their honor, Marco must learn the power of forgiveness and love before they can have the future they deserve.
Is this a stand alone or part of a series?
The Tycoon’s Red Hot Marriage Merger is a stand alone book set in Argentina and the Florida Key West region. I wanted to incorporate a foreign setting and work with two characters who come from different backgrounds, but have a lot in common when it comes to needing and finding the love they deserve.
What was your inspiration for this story?
My characters drove this story for me. I’m always fascinated with the concept that people aren’t always who we think they are based on their appearances or backgrounds. I wanted to explore that concept and dig beneath the beneath the characters’ layers. Cassandra Nelson is a heroine who looks like she has it all because she comes from a rich, blue blood society with money and connections. But she’s not popular and she was bullied by her peers because she’s very smart, a bit of a geek, and afraid to let herself shine. Marco Delgado doesn’t realize that she’s got more to give him than a ticket back into that society with their marriage of convenience. And when he discovers what she’s really like, he is drawn to her in ways he never expected. Together, these characters are transformed by their marriage of convenience and they learn that they are perfect for each other IF they are willing to let their guards down and risk everything for love. They do. But they have to work hard to get to that point.
If you could cast this book into a movie who would play the hero and heroine?
I love Pinterest! I have a story board for Cassandra and Marco that sets the scene. Here’s the link to my story pictures in Pinterest. https://www.pinterest.com/cjglover63/the-tycoons-red-hot-marriage-merger/
Do you listen to music when you write or have a recurring theme song or playlist for the book?
I have a writing soundtrack that I mix up for each novel that I write. Some of the songs are repeats, and some are new ones that I buy after I hear them—if they make me think about the story and the characters. I love Bon Jovi, Adele, Maroon 5, Kings of Leon, and lots of pop music.
I love all those groups, too. What’s next?
Currently I’m working on several projects. I have to get my sequel to The Maverick’s Red Hot Reunion completed, an Italian Tycoon story to finish, and I’ve started a new series set in North Carolina. That’s going to come out in 2016. I’ll be busy! But I love the challenge of writing and creating these Happily Ever After stories.

A Red Letter Day
Several years ago, one of my dearest friends, Jill Odom, revealed she had written a romance novel. I was astounded and excited for her. For years I had written stories, but it never went further than forcing sharing them with friends. Shaking, terrified of her hating my story, I showed it to her. She smiled, patted my hand, and said, “Come, follow me.”
She led me to an fantastic group of writers, Southern Magic, RWA. These amazing women (and a few men!) meet monthly to help each other learn the craft, share experiences, offer advice, and navigate the choppy waters of publishing. They pick me up when I’m down, talk me off the ledge when frustrated, and cheer my milestones. They epitomize my favorite saying, Book Friends are Best Friends. I’m honored to be associated with these talented folks. They are my book family. If you’re just starting out, I encourage you to find a group like mine. Writing can be a lonely business, but it doesn’t have to be. You are not alone.
When I first joined Southern Magic, I perused every link the website offered. They have a list of members. Those who are published are listed in red. I clicked on every single author link. And I dreamed…
Today, my dream came true. My name is in red. I’m humbled and grateful.

Author Spotlight: Cecilia Dominic, Author of The Perfect Man
I’m excited to welcome the amazing Cecilia Dominic, author of The Perfect Man.
BLURB:
How far will she go to find her perfect man? How far will he go to be one?
When Karen Hardeman sets foot on the Foothills University campus, it’s her first step toward proving her abusive ex wrong. Just her luck, her first writing assignment in Intro to Romance sends her in search of the perfect hero—a quest she’s never managed to conquer.
Worse, her professor forces her to collaborate with the most overconfident, annoying guy in the class.
Seth Sayers is also at Foothills to find new direction—preferably one that takes him far away from the family drama that’s followed him since his father’s death. He didn’t mean to humiliate Karen by rewriting her manuscript from the hero’s point of view. He blames the painkillers the ER doctor gave him after stitching up a wine-induced cut on his hand.
As their collaboration progresses, Karen begins to trust Seth with her manuscript, then maybe a little piece of her heart. But Seth’s half-brother resurrects Seth’s suspicions about his father’s death. Until he finds the truth, he can’t be the hero in anyone’s life. Even his own.
Warning: Some alcohol consumption. Okay, writer amounts of alcohol consumption. There are also some adult situations, but nothing too explicit. It is a romance-writing class, after all.
Take it away, Cecilia!
Thank you so much for having me today, Nancee! These were fun questions.
What qualities do you think define the perfect man? Include characteristics, habits and looks.
I have always been drawn to the somewhat geeky guys. It worked out. Hubby’s a software developer, and we met our freshman year of college. We shared a computer in our first class together – how sweet is that? I do tend to be drawn more to dark-haired guys than to blonds or redheads, and glasses are optional. No beards, please, but a little scruff can be fun as long as he shaves it off before kisses get serious. I also like a guy who can make me laugh and who is intelligent and creative. Geeky artists – swoon. Finally, he has to be truly considerate of others, which pretty much excludes alphas.
How do real men differ from our romance heroes? (you can be specific, for ex. My DH will pat his stomach and tease,”Why would anyone want a six pack, I’ve got the whole keg!” lol)
Oh, wow, this is a tough one, but I love your husband’s answer. Yes, the effortless fitness thing is definitely a fictional construction, as is the hunky guy who never has trouble motivating himself to work out.
I think real men are more like our beta heroes. They have insecurities and foibles and are typically aware of them. Sometimes they’re even hyper-aware, which causes problems. Or seeking out therapy. You don’t ever see romance heroes going into therapy, or at least I haven’t so far unless there’s an inappropriate relationship with the therapist, which annoys me. I admit, although I love an alpha hero, the beta ones tug at my heart strings!
Did music, television or movies influence your writing of A Perfect Man ? If so, any particular song, television show or movie?
I had playlists for Karen and Seth that I would have on whenever I was writing in their point of view. Karen’s was heavy on girl power stuff like Melissa Etheridge, and Seth’s had a melancholy tone with Coldplay and U2. Perfect for your characters!
If you had the perfect dream cast, who would portray Karen and Seth?
Oh, I would love Zooey Deschanel as Karen. She’s got the right amount of goofy for her, and I’ve always thought she’s just adorable. As for Seth, he’s tougher. Maybe Ian Somerhalder? He looks like he could pull off the feel of the character, that is, nice and trying to find his strength so he can navigate this world where life isn’t fair but there are moments of joy to find. Love those choices!
How does your real life writing experience compare to your heroine’s experience as a romance writer? Did you draw on any real life experiences?
I took both the best and worst of my writing habits and mixed them up for my characters.
Both of them have times when the writing is flowing and others when they’re stuck. That was the main similarity between my process and theirs. Like Karen, I tend to be a pantser, but I do like to do character interviews and background sheets like Seth. I don’t think either would like what I have to do for publication, come up with a proposal and synopsis.
Thank you for stopping by!
About the author:
Cecilia Dominic wrote her first story when she was two years old and has always had a much more interesting life inside her head than outside of it. She became a clinical psychologist because she’s fascinated by people and their stories, but she couldn’t stop writing fiction. The first draft of her dissertation, while not fiction, was still criticized by her major professor for being written in too entertaining a style. She made it through graduate school and got her PhD, started her own practice, and by day, she helps people cure their insomnia without using medication. By night, she blogs about wine and writes fiction she hopes will keep her readers turning the pages all night. Yes, she recognizes the conflict of interest between her two careers, so she writes and blogs under a pen name. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia with one husband and two cats, which, she’s been told, is a good number of each.

Saving Evangeline Released TODAY! How about an excerpt?
Today is the day! I woke up to find a friend had posted a picture of my book on her kindle. MY BOOK. My baby! Yep. I did an awkward little dance (think Elaine from Seinfeld, this girl hasn’t got any rhythm).
Here’s a tiny excerpt from Saving Evangeline.
Remi stops short and turns around. My body slams into his and of its own accord molds into it as if made to be there. He cups my face with his hands. “Just for tonight, let’s pretend I’m not a priest and you’re not crazy. We’re just two normal human beings having a good time. Just a man and a woman at a rip-off carnival, living in the moment.” Laced with forbidden promises, his voice seduces me. I grip his biceps so hard I’m sure I’ve left imprints of my nails.
“But—”
“Don’t over-think this, Evangeline. Carpe diem. It’s the only way to live. We’re all on a fast track to death, born to die, so to speak…” He taps my nose with his index finger and smiles. “Some faster than others. Don’t rush it, just breathe and enjoy each precious moment. The good and the bad.” He leans in and whispers, “And this is definitely the good.”
I thought it only fitting to share a scene at the carnival. This journey to publishing has been a roller-coaster ride, but in the end, I’m amazed, breathless and ready to do it again!

Today’s Eagerly Awaited Release! Author Beck Anderson’s newest novel, Trouble Me
In Fix You, movie star Andrew Pettigrew (Andy to his fans, Andrew to his friends) somehow found the level-headed love he was looking for in young widow and “regular girl” Kelly Reynolds. Now, as they work to mesh their growing relationship with his gold-statue ambitions, things go a bit sideways, in true Hollywood fashion.
Though they’re still wonderfully in love, it’s challenge enough for Andrew and Kelly to decipher what it means to be a family—and a growing family at that—between takes on set. But Andrew also brings history with a temperamental co-star, assorted paparazzi, and someone out there who has serious, perhaps obsessive, issues with him into the mix. Suddenly the Reynolds-Pettigrew clan must fight not just to stay together, but to stay safe.
In Trouble Me, the sequel to Fix You and third novel from Rita finalist Beck Anderson, Kelly and Andrew struggle to stay sane within their whirlwind life. It’s a life that’s equal parts amazing and amusing, less glamorous than you might expect, and spiked with very real fears no amount of stardom can overcome.
Will Andrew and Kelly stay strong at the broken places or be torn apart?
I love Andrew and Kelly and can’t wait to read this one! Is this the last in the series? I’m working on Use Somebody, a Fix You sequel/spin-off. It’s hard to believe, but Jeremy, the Hollywood agent/shark, will find love!
I know you’re also a screenwriter. If this was a movie, who would you love to see cast as Andrew and Kelly?
Robert Pattinson and Piper Perabo
HOLD ON…. Let me take a moment to drool over your choice for Andrew… Okay. Let’s continue.
Is there a song that makes you think of Andrew and Kelly? Trouble Me by 10,000 Maniacs
Thank you for stopping by, Beck! I’m off to order my copy of Trouble Me!
AUTHOR BIO:

Beck Anderson loves to write about love and its power to heal and grow people past their many imperfections. She is a firm believer in the phrase “mistakes are for learning” and uses it frequently to guide her in writing life and real life.
For Beck, the path to published novelist has taken lots of twists and turns, including a degree in anthropology, a stint as a ticket seller at a ski resort, a much-loved career as a high school English teacher, and a long tenure as a member of the best writing group ever, hands down.
Beck balances (clumsily at best) writing novels and screenplays, working full-time as an educator, mothering two pre-teen males, loving one post-40 husband, and making time to walk the foothills of Boise, Idaho, with Stefano DiMera Delfino Anderson, the suavest Chihuahua north of the border.
