Dream Cast for Rumer Haven’s What the Clocks Know
I’m excited to feature Rumer Haven with my favorite type author blog. I’m a visual person when I write and read, so I’ve asked Rumer to cast her new book, What the Clocks Know for a movie! So here we go, ACTION!
Thanks so much for hosting me, Nancee!
I rarely have actors in mind when I’m visualizing and crafting my characters, so pulling together a “casting call” can be difficult. But in sifting through the headshots, I’ve found a few celebrities qualified to audition for the main and secondary characters of What the Clocks Know.
*picks up megaphone*
Lights…camera…ACTORS!
1. Margot – A tall brunette with hazel eyes, a casual grace, and an ample capacity for self-deprecation and crying, my American protagonist could reasonably be played by Devin Kelley if she’ll agree to wear contacts.
2. Rand – As Margot’s tall, lean, handsome, and pleasantly pale British flatmate, Rand is an absolute doll, if I may say so myself. And though I loosely based him on the classic film star, David Niven, Matthew Goode would make a dashing modern male lead.
3. Chloé – Petite, blond, darling, but with an air of mystery, Margot’s charismatic French friend Chloé is another big player in the story. I think Imogen Poots could be brilliant in this role, so long as she cuts her hair short and adopts a different accent.
4. Derek – Margot’s buddy from high school, this tattooed, aspiring musician is a sweet yet edgy pop-cultural font of wisdom. He plays a secondary role in the story, but could be portrayed by A-lister Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
5. Sylvie – Margot’s friend from college, this little spark plug is small and energetic with almond eyes and a blinding smile. She’s a tough one for me to cast, but a past season of Dancing with the Stars made me aware of Janel Parrish as a possibility.
Aaaaand…CUT! That’s a wrap, folks! Thanks for joining me on this little star-studded tour. I won’t be holding my breath for What the Clocks Know to hit the silver screen any time soon, but it does already have its own trailer and soundtrack at my YouTube Channel (http://www.youtube.com/+rumerhaven). In the meantime, I hope you’ll see it in the cinema of your mind as you read it. :)

About What the Clocks Know:
Finding a ghost isn’t what Margot had in mind when she went ‘soul searching’, but somehow her future may depend on Charlotte’s past.
Woven between 21st-century and Victorian London, What the Clocks Know is a haunting story of love and identity. A paranormal women’s fiction, this title is available as of March 18, 2016 from Crooked Cat Publishing.
“A unique tale of the paranormal – as beautiful as it is haunting.”

Author Bio:
Rumer Haven is probably the most social recluse you could ever meet. When she’s not babbling her fool head off among friends and family, she’s pacified with a good story that she’s reading, writing, or revising—or binge-watching something on Netflix. A former teacher hailing from Chicago, she presently lives in London with her husband and probably a ghost or two. Rumer has always had a penchant for the past and paranormal, which inspires her writing to explore dimensions of time, love, and the soul. She debuted in 2014 with Seven for a Secret (in which a Jazz Age tragedy haunts a modern woman’s love life), and her award-winning short story “Four Somethings & a Sixpence” (about a bride who gets a little something she didn’t register for) was released in 2015. What the Clocks Know is her second novel.

Summary:
Twenty-six-year-old Margot sets out on a journey of self-discovery – she dumps her New York boyfriend, quits her Chicago job, and crashes at her friend’s flat in London.
Rather than find herself, though, she only feels more lost. An unsettling energy affects her from the moment she enters the old Victorian residence, and she spirals into depression. Frightened and questioning her perceptions, she gradually suspects her dark emotions belong to Charlotte instead.
Who is Charlotte? The name on a local gravestone could relate to Margot’s dreams and the grey woman weeping at the window.
Finding a ghost isn’t what she had in mind when she went ‘soul searching’, but somehow Margot’s future may depend on Charlotte’s past.
Woven between 21st century and Victorian London, What the Clocks Know is a haunting story of love and identity.

Girl Power! Debra Anastasia’s The Revenger
I am beyond excited for my dear friend and mentor, Debra Anastasia, as she releases her newest novel, The Revenger! To me, Debra is the very definition of Girl Power.
Here’s the blurb:
The real hero of this story is dead. You should have met him. He was a beautiful man. The love of my life. I didn’t deserve him.
Now what’s left are the jagged edges of the person I am without him, and what I have to do to get by. This isn’t even a story about love. Not really. It’s a twisted tale of revenge and hate—a happily never after.
The only man in my life now is the one I have to kill.
I’m Savvy Raine.
I used to be a wife.
I used to be a mother.
Now I am the Revenger.
Intriguing! And here is a quick excerpt:
There was very little chatter after the alarming phone call. Savvy looked at the clock. It was only five, but the extra help Tallow had enlisted acted like she was about to disintegrate. When they were finally done, they hung Savvy’s costume from a door, fully expecting her to drop trou in front of all the strangers.
She looked at the silver outfit meant to demean her and classify her as his, just like all his other favorites.
“Yeah, I’m not actually going to be wearing that.” She looked from one shocked person to the other.
Tallow recovered first. “But this is what he told you to wear!”
Savvy laughed hollowly. “Yeah, he can suck his own d*ck for all I care.”
The atmosphere changed. The others now realized Savvy didn’t think it was a huge honor to be a f*ckhole.
“That’s not acceptable. I’ll put you in it myself if I have to, but you’re leaving here in that outfit.” Tallow bravely gathered up the skirt and came into Savvy’s personal space. He obviously thought she was just a regular girl.
In an instant she’d lifted Tallow into the air by his neck. “I’m not wearing it.” She stared him down until he began to turn blue. Then she set him back on his feet.
Tallow was a quick learner and smoothed his fancy shirt. “Okay then, let me see what else we have.”

Debra Anastasia, Cover Reveal & Excerpt for The Revenger
I’m so excited to be part of Debra Anastasia’s Cover Reveal for her new novel, The Revenger, to be published 2/22/16! Debra’s books are always on my “must buy” list and this one sounds particularly intriguing! This cover is amazingly beautiful.
And now for an excerpt!
“What the hell are you?” He searched frantically for the door latch, his panic making him oblivious to the open top of the Jeep above him.
He didn’t deserve an answer, and he wouldn’t get one. Only in her head would she respond. She pulled him from the backseat and held him aloft, thinking, I’m a mom without a reason. I’m a person without a life. I’m dead with no escape.

Biography
There are a lot of eyes in Debra Anastasia’s house in Maryland. First, her own creepy peepers are there, staring at her computer screen. She’s made two more sets of eyes with her body, and the kids they belong to are amazing. The poor husband is still looking at her after 17 years of marriage. At least he likes to laugh. Then the freaking dogs are looking at her–six eyeballs altogether, though the old dog is blind. And the cat watches her too, mostly while knocking stuff off the counter and doing that internal kitty laugh when Deb can’t catch the items fast enough.
In between taking care of everything those eyes involve, Debra creates pretend people in her head and paints them on the giant, beautiful canvas of your imagination. What an amazing job that is. The stories hit her hard while driving the minivan or shaving her legs, especially when there’s no paper and pen around. Within all of the lies she writes hides her heart, so thank you for letting it play in your mind.
Debra has written a smattering of books in a few genres. There are two paranormal romances in the Seraphim series and now four contemporary romances in the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood series. Fire Down Below and Fire in the Hole complete the Gynazule Comedy Series. The Revenger, a dark paranormal romance, is finally in the light, and the last, a novella called Late Night with Andres, is special because 100% of the proceeds go to breast cancer research. (So go get it right now, please!)

Saving Evangeline, an extra scene
I yawn, bored by the same old scenery and Remi’s crazy playlist. The one he loves to sing along with as he gives me a knowing smirk. Even though he has a beautiful voice, I’m tired of the same old songs.
“Can we listen to something else? You’re giving me a complex.”
“Truth hurt, Crazy Girl?” He snickers and switches the music. “Never say I didn’t give you anything.” He laughs at his own pathetic joke.
The Little Drummer Boy blasts through the speakers. I roll my eyes. “Christmas music? Really? It’s at least a hundred degrees out here.”
“Damn, you’re picky.” He turns the radio down. “What’s your favorite Christmas song?”
“What are you smoking?”
Remi laughs. “Just tobacco. I love Christmas music. Come on, surely you have a favorite. Let me guess Evie Emo. Blue Christmas.”
I smack his arm but laugh. “You’re such an ass.” I start to giggle, remembering a song my Daddy used to sing at Christmas. “Here’s one. It even reminds me of you. Dominick The Italian Christmas Donkey.”
“Hmm, never heard that one. Sing it.”
I do, complete with donkey braying sounds. Goner joins in howling and barking. Remi winces. “I bet you never had a solo in the Christmas pageant, did you?”
“No. I was always the angel. I just had to stand there and look all innocent and shit.” I bite my lip and snicker, remembering the infamous Christmas fiasco.
He raises one eyebrow. “Uh huh. I feel like there’s more to the story. What happened?”
“I didn’t want to do it, but my mother insisted. She still regrets it. I, uh may have gotten into a little fight with Mary.”
“This ought to be good. Over?”
“I wanted the baby Jesus. They were using my baby doll. It turned into a tug of war with the entire Sunday school involved. It became one of the best days ever. Total pandemonium broke loose with Sister Bernadette squawking like a chicken. Father Ashton ended up with a black eye.”
Remi laughs until tears run down his face. “So who won in the end?”
“Who do you think?” I grin but reflect fondly on the best part of the story. “That night I cried. Mama was embarrassed and livid. She told me if Santa even came to visit he’d only leave switches and coal. Later, Daddy kissed me good night and whispered for me not to worry, things always work out in the end.”
Remi takes my hand in his. “Your father was a smart man.”
“So what’s your favorite Christmas song?” I hold on to his hand, my thumb tracing the veins on the back of it. He has beautiful, strong hands. Mine look tiny by comparison.
“Hm. Company line would have me say Joy to the World. It’s a song about hope. Something we all need.” He gives me a pointed look before returning his gaze to the road.
He doesn’t say anything else for a moment. Sadness lurks at the corner of his eyes and he keeps his eyes on the road. “But actually, since meeting you, I’d say my favorite is All I Want for Christmas is You.”
Heat singes my cheeks and I smile. “It’s my favorite, too.” He pulls my hand to those lips I’ve fantasized about and presses a gentle kiss on top of it. Despite being the hottest part of summer, it suddenly feels like Christmas…

Project Purse Dump- KaLyn Cooper
I should probably be thrown out of the Girlie Girl Club because I don’t carry much in my purse. Given the opportunity, I don’t even carry one. I often stuff cash in a front pocket with a Chapstick or lipstick on the other side and I carry a very small, leather pouch for credit cards.
Years of long distance traveling has taught me that a purse can get stolen so quickly and weighs you down. By the end of the day, your shoulders ache. I also have a tendency to leave it hanging on the back of a chair so more than once I’ve revisited a restaurant in search of the darn thing. Fortunately, I’ve only lost it once. So I often don’t take one with me when I leave the house.
Unless I’m carrying.
Yes, I have been known to carry a gun in my purse. And yes, I have a Handgun Carry Permit. And yes, I know how to use it. I hope I wouldn’t hesitate to do so if a life-threatening situation should arise. I am a shooter and can often be found on the range. To see a picture of the gun I carry, visit my blog site listed below.
So, on to the contents of my purse:
Let’s talk about the purse itself. I only buy unembellished Coach leather purses. I have some that are over twenty years old that still look good and function well. I rotate them out summer and winter, thus the dark brown one currently in use.
Two leather-bound checkbooks. Although I do more banking online than with a written check, sometimes you simply need to write a check. After the second move, Macho Marine and I decided we needed a stable bank account for his direct deposit but in those days, a local bank was always necessary. Thus the one has been in existence for over thirty-five years and the local account.
That non-descript medicine bottle contains: at least two migraine pills for Macho Marine, he can never find his when he needs them; two daily meds for Favorite (only) Son, just in case; and a few mega Motrin for me. The Tylenol is also for MM because he forgets his all too often when we travel. Is there a picture of our family dynamic forming here?
Business cards. You never know when you’ll run into a Romance reader.
Pens and a small pad of paper. Even though I most often use the app on my phone, I never know when I’ll need to write a note or make a list. I love office supply stores the way MM loves old hardware stores. I could spend hours looking at all the pretty paper, interesting office gadgets and pens that I might need and all too often purchase. They have to be ultrafine point and pretty as well as functional. But never pink or purple and never ever write in those colors. See, I could so easily lose that Girlie Girl card.
Glasses case and lens cleaner. I wore contacts for years and still do on occasion but prefer my glasses these days. I switch to prescription sunglasses when I go outside. Maybe I should try transitional lenses.
Wallet. Again Coach because they last so long and again leather. I guess I’m a natural materials person when it comes right down to it.
Not pictured but should be mentioned: Sometimes I will also have a receipt or two that I stuff into the back compartment but not today. Writing is a business and it keeps my CPA happy when I have the receipt from lunch with my author friends. I also shove my cell phone into the exterior pocket but I needed it to take the picture.
Pretty boring stuff for the most part.
But there is one more item I often carry. It’s deadly and I didn’t want it plastered all over the Internet. To see what it is, please visit my blog https://kalyncooper.wordpress.com/.
KaLyn Cooper’s romances blend fact and fiction with blazing heat and heart-pounding suspense. Twenty-two years as a military wife has shown her the world, and more than thirty years in PR taught her that fact can be stranger than fiction. She leaves it up to the reader to separate truth from imagination. She, her husband, and bird dog live in Tennessee on a micro-plantation filled with gardens, cattle, and quail. When she’s not writing, she’s at the shooting range or paddling on the river.

Sarah Hegger’s Purse Dump
So, it’s my turn to dump the contents of my purse and tell you all about them. I must say, this feels akin to opening my underwear drawer and letting everyone poke about.
My purse functions as the mobile command center for my family.
I see my sunglasses are missing from the picture, but I never go anywhere without them. Someone told me years ago, when I was still in my teens, that they’re the best form of wrinkle protection, and I stick by that. The effectiveness of this method is a topic for another blog post altogether.
Now let me explain myself, items one through thirteen:
A collection of invoices that I’ll need within the next week or so. In this case, the invoice for my new glasses and beneath it for kitchen stools I’m waiting to be delivered. Pieces of paper get lost in my house, so my purse is the best place to keep them.
Um, it got nothing. These are receipts from grocery shopping, and I routinely get rid of them. Typically when I can’t find stuff in my purse anymore.
Two teenage girls. ‘Nuff said.
The pencils and pens I never have when I need one, but are always lurking around the bowel of my purse.
I hate grocery shopping with a passion, and if I don’t have a list I end up not getting everything I need.
The trusty wallet. Probably filled with even more receipts I’ve kept for some reason or other, and will get rid of when they bug me.
The dog tags I bought to put on my dogs, but haven’t been back to Pet Smart to have them engraved with my dog’s name and a contact number. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’ll get around to it.
The iPhone. And thank God I take out insurance because I have dropped these babies in a cup of tea, a dehumidifier bucket, down the stairs, had one stolen out of my car…
Cheque books, because you never know when you’re going to need one. Not often, but damn when you need one, you need one.
Both our cars have keyless ignition, but you need to have the fob close to the car to open it. Why two of them? My husband routinely loses his, and I give him the one I have, and find the lost one and put it in my purse.
A collection of business cards that are too useful to throw away, but I can never find when I need.
Lip balm and gloss, both to prevent dry lips, which living in Colorado make a must have.
My business cards and bookmarks for those conversations that start with “What do you write?” It should be noted that since I started carrying these around, nobody has had that conversation with me. But we all know that once I take them out of my purse, I’ll have that conversation with the next person I run into.
There we go, the contents of my purse, and they don’t vary too much from day to day. When the girls were younger, it also used to be filled with nicely colored rocks, bits of toys, feathers, shells and other paraphernalia young children ‘need’ to keep.
Born British and raised in South Africa, Sarah Hegger suffers from an incurable case of wanderlust. Her match? A hot Canadian engineer, whose marriage proposal she accepted six short weeks after they first met. Together they’ve made homes in seven different cities across three different continents (and back again once or twice). If only it made her multilingual, but the best she can manage is idiosyncratic English, fluent Afrikaans, conversant Russian, pigeon Portuguese, even worse Zulu and enough French to get herself into trouble.
Mimicking her globe trotting adventures, Sarah’s career path began as a gainfully employed actress, drifted into public relations, settled a moment in advertising, and eventually took root in the fertile soil of her first love, writing. She also moonlights as a wife and mother.
She currently lives in Colorado with her teenage daughters, two Golden Retrievers and aforementioned husband. Part footloose buccaneer, part quixotic observer of life, Sarah’s restless heart is most content when reading or writing books.
Sarah is the recipient of the 2015 EPIC Award for Historical Romance.
She is represented my Nalini Akolekar of Spencerhill Associates.
