Orphanizers (Demilitarization Sonnet, 1303) | Abhijit Naskar | Visvavatan: 100 Demilitarization Sonnets
Show me a nation with a huge defense budget,
I’ll show you a demented nation.
Show me a nation with a big education budget,
I’ll show you a nation of the future.
Disband the soldiers, empower the teachers,
Thus you plant the paradigm of peace.
Abolish all pride in nation’s military,
Thus you emerge as maker of peace.
The real warmongers of the world are,
Not the world leaders, but the civilians,
Who can’t think past the strength of military,
Who take pride in a genocidal arsenal of weapons.
With such civilian primitiveness rampant in society,
No conference can ensure the promise of peace.
If you really want to ensure peace on planet earth,
Denounce all politics and democracy militarist.
Stop taking pride in your national military,
That very pride floods the world with orphans.
Amidst the herd of widowmakers and orphanizers,
Wake up alone, and slogan for demilitarization!

How does the bird come and go (Sufi Scientist Sonnet, 1300) | Abhijit Naskar | Pani, Agua, Water, It’s All One
How does the bird come and go,
In and out of this bodily cage!
So long as you nourish it with love,
Who cares about some mythical fate!
Cages are born of dust,
In dust cages will wither.
Yet you sob in love of cage,
Oblivious to the endangered flier!
With all knowledge of cosmic building blocks,
How come you still cannot put an end to war!
With all your high and mighty technocracy,
How come children still starve and suffer!
I say, put your intellect aside for a change,
First unfold a human heart outside the cage.
Otherwise, your posterboys of superficiality,
Will turn this world into a wreck of cages.
In and out of this bodily cage!
So long as you nourish it with love,
Who cares about some mythical fate!
Cages are born of dust,
In dust cages will wither.
Yet you sob in love of cage,
Oblivious to the endangered flier!

Otherwise, your posterboys of superficiality,
Will turn this world into a wreck of cages.

The Illiterate (A Sonnet) | Abhijit Naskar | Pani, Agua, Water, It’s All One
I am poetry,
I am the poet.
I am literature,
Yet I am illiterate.
Illiterate am I of intellect,
Illiterate am I of rituals.
My literacy comes from the soil,
My literacy makes the world equal.
Drunkard am I, absurd am I,
All I know is but love’s insanity,
Past all Cross and MC squared,
Love is the only cosmic literacy.
Be literate of books and brain,
But more so of the dormant light.
Literacy of letters earns you living,
Literacy of love earns you a life.
I am the poet.
I am literature,
Yet I am illiterate.
Illiterate am I of intellect,
Illiterate am I of rituals.
My literacy comes from the soil,

Rise My Lions, Be Heroes of Earth! (Sonnet 1289) | Abhijit Naskar | Pani, Agua, Water, It’s All One
You gotta surpass your intellect and belief,
If you want to stand as healer and peacemaker.
If that’s not what you want, do as you please;
My works are not for the self-absorbed taker.
We don’t need to build a world of faith,
We don’t need to build a world of logic.
We just need to build a world human enough,
To place without prejudice, all faith and logic.
We don’t need to build a world with one superpower,
We gotta build a world where the world is superpower.
We don’t need a world rotting in diplomatic gutter,
Let’s build a world that has no geopolitical clutter.
It’s not enough to be a national hero of one nation,
You gotta be a national hero of all nations.
That day I shall call you a human of earth,
When you are the gateway to world illumination.
If you want to stand as healer and peacemaker.
If that’s not what you want, do as you please;
My works are not for the self-absorbed taker.
We don’t need to build a world of faith,
We don’t need to build a world of logic.

Letter to My Soldiers | Abhijit Naskar | Visvavatan: 100 Demilitarization Sonnets
I am only the beginning – the beginning of a new kind of humans – humans who belong to not one culture, but many cultures – humans who speak not one language, but many languages – humans who study scriptures and science with equal enthusiasm, yet pledge allegiance to neither, and know how to use both in the benefit of humanity – humans who aim for neither belief nor disbelief, but warmth and understanding – humans who are more concerned with the real hard problem of inhumanity, than the outdated hard problem of consciousness – humans who sacrifice their life treating the real hard question of hate, rather than the mythical hard question of god. I am only the beginning – the first spark, if you may – the best are yet to come.

I am Multiculturalism | Abhijit Naskar | Visvavatan: 100 Demilitarization Sonnets
I don’t write on multiculturalism,
I am multiculturalism.
The only nationalism I care about,
is tribalism ending multinationalism.
Either you’ll know me as a national hero
of every nation, or you won’t know me at all.
So long as a single human calls me foreigner,
I’ll conclude, I’ve achieved nothing at all.
“No escribo sobre multiculturalismo,
Yo soy el multiculturalismo.
Sólo hay un nacionalismo para mí,
Es el multinacionalismo
lo que pone fin al tribalismo.
O me conoceréis como un héroe nacional
de cada nación, o no me conoceréis en absoluto.
Mientras un solo ser humano me llame extranjero,
Concluiré, no he conseguido nada en absoluto.

The Love Instinct | Abhijit Naskar | O amas o no amas, no hay nada que pensar | Pani, Agua, Water, It’s All One
You can train a mind to think, but you can’t train a heart to love. Either you love or you don’t, there’s no training. Either you love or you don’t, there’s no thinking. Nobody thinks twice before hating, then why should you think twice before loving! Until love becomes instinctive as hate, nothing will change.

Selam-e-Sapiens (Shattered Seer Sonnet) | Abhijit Naskar | Pani, Agua, Water, It’s All One
Sometimes I’m battered vagabond,
Sometimes I’m shattered seer.
No claim to name, fame or reign,
Lovedrunk I write borracha poesía.
Sometimes I’m mest-i-mevlana,
Sometimes I’m my own Shams.
Sometimes I’m dastan-e-dervish,
Sometimes I’m selam-e-sapiens.
I am no brahmin,
I am the Godfather of brahmins;
I am Parabrahma, the Brahmins worship.
I am Adi, I am Anth, I am Ananth Adishakti.
Leave your creed, crown and
constitution, when you enter my door.
I am but a human if you are human,
if you’re sectarian, I’m messiah galore.

True Meaning of Christmas | Abhijit Naskar | Visvavatan: 100 Demilitarization Sonnets
If you cared about the thousands of children suffering today in Gaza, as much you care about the birth of one middle eastern child two thousand years ago, perhaps then, you could’ve understood the true meaning of Christmas.
As of now, Christmas is just a festival of hypocrisy – and that too, in the name of a man who gave his life to lift up the fallen. My question is, if you cannot be Christlike in your deeds, what’s the point of all these festivities, which are supposed to be rooted in goodwill towards all, not mindless self-obsession!

Dharmanator (The Nonduality Sonnet) | Abhijit Naskar | Merry Christmas 2023
“You can neither fathom nor manifest the true vastness of the human mind, with your puny binary eyes of belief and disbelief – facts and fiction – capitalism and socialism – democracy and autocracy – logicality and sentimentality.”
“Dharmanator (The Nonduality Sonnet)
Pani, Agua, Water, it’s all one;
Ubuntu, Advaita, Ahava, it’s all one;
Creation, Consciousness, Evolution, it’s all one;
To fathom this you gotta unlearn all separatism.
Division imposed by facts and intellect is just
as degrading as those imposed by faith and fiction.
True light of knowledge obliterates all divide,
instead of turning mind into a dumpyard of reason.
When a computer engineer becomes a monk,
then that monk becomes a brain scientist,
your revered paradigms are bound to crumble,
as all institutions stand on grounds separatist.
Apes may be stuck in prehistoric duality,
Norm of the cosmos is nonduality.
With your binary eyes of belief and disbelief,
You’ll never wake up to cosmic serendipity.
Move past your psychoduality,
If you wanna unfold human vastness.
Faith and logic both will turn bland,
Once you wake up to sapiosentience.”
