I'm Going on Hiatus

Happy Sunday, little vamps! If you're new here, welcome to my blog! This is the place where I'll be summing up any progress I've made in any and all aspects of my life, not just writing! And if you're a regular visitor to the site, welcome back! :)I have some pretty big things to talk about this time around, so I'll cut to the chase: first off, I'm sorry I haven't written a blog all month. If not for the writer's block and personal health issues, I would've written something at some point, but I just couldn't! And I'm so very sorry about that.. so much so that I think I'm going to change up my blog schedule once more so that I post a blog at the end of every month; just so I have SOMETHING to talk about! As you could probably guess by the title, I'm planning on going on hiatus when it comes to writing and editing and... basically the manuscripts for any of my stories! I've had little to no inspiration or motivation to write lately, unfortunately.. the only joy I can find nowadays is in reading and making art, either of my characters or just.. art in general I guess! So I'm not technically abandoning my books or my characters... I'm just taking a month-long break from writing. I know this likely doesn't matter to anyone but myself, but I just thought the people who are supporting me and all that to know what I've been thinking.. now, thankfully, I've finished the pen name switch from RJ City to Rachel Joy - in everything except my physical book on Amazon of course - so I at least have THAT to be proud of. Everything else ehhh not so much! So to recap: My blogs will now be once a month instead of bi-weekly! I'm going on hiatus for (most likely) the month of April, if not a bit more? I'm not giving up on my reading or art, just the writing aspect for now... be mad at me if you want but... writing is honestly making me miserable and doubt myself right now so a break from it seemed fitting.Anyway, I hope everyone understands and has a great April! So Much NEW

Happy Sunday, little vamps! If you're new here, welcome to my bi-weekly blog! This is the place where I'll be summing up any progress I've made in any and all aspects of my life, not just writing! And if you're a regular visitor to the site, welcome back! :)Things are FINALLY happening! I've gotten the rights back to my books and I'm not longer with Inkitt! Of course... I can still go back in the future but.. I don't think I will. It's not that I hate Inkitt; I just don't agree with what they're doing with their authors, especially recently. The constant waiting between emails, it just felt like a real lack of communication. I tried my best, but I'm still thankful that I was able to experience being published and it's only the beginning, really! Now that I have the rights to my books back, I can now pitch my series to new publishers in hopes of getting another deal that might benefit me better in the long run! So for now... editing for The Wolfsbane Ruby is on hold. I'm focusing all of my effort and attention - at least as far as writing goes - with my first book, The Blood Diamond! I have a small but AWESOME beta reading team who - as of today - received the first chunk of story to give me feedback on! Hell yeah!Lastly, I wanted to mention that I will most likely be publishing under a different pen name this time around. I've been RJ City since my high school days and honestly? I don't like it anymore. It's not ME. It's too confusing when trying to organize my books with others. So from now on (and starting later this week when I talk about it on my social media platforms), I'm going to go by simply Rachel Joy. Which, fun fact, is just my first and middle name! My last name is still way too long and a mouthful to use. But I've been going by Rachel Joy on my Twitter for almost a year now and I honestly love it! And I hope you feel the same, reader! It's kinda sad that this is the last (and ONLY) blog of February, but I promise to have something new to say every other Sunday from here on out I'll see you all next time, little vamps~~ Fangs & Kisses ~RJ CityFind All of My Social Media Links HERE!Have a Question? New Year, New... Publisher?

Happy Sunday, little vamps! If you're new here, welcome to my bi-weekly blog! This is the place where I'll be summing up any progress I've made in any and all aspects of my life, not just writing! And if you're a regular visitor to the site, welcome back! :)Hey, everyone!I hope you've been enjoying your 2019 so far~ I for one have been STRESSED. For multiple reasons, really!Instead of stalling or tip-toeing around the issue, I'm just going to say it: I'm cutting ties with my publisher, Inkitt. It's not anyone's fault in particular, and I'd be glad to go into detail once I regain the rights to my book series (and the royalties I'm OWED)! When this realization first hit me, I was honestly terrified. This meant that I'd either have to self-publish my books or find a different publisher! I'm not making any promises now, but I'm currently leaning to the second option. I even have the new publisher in mind and hope to contact them as soon as I say goodbye to Inkitt! Is that exciting or what? Honestly, I'm still kinda bummed about my situation with Inkitt. For those that didn't see my Facebook post about the situation itself, the person I talk to that works at Inkitt basically told me that my next book, The Wolfsbane Ruby, wouldn't be published anytime soon- mainly because the publisher is focused on an app for new customers and writers alike. Now, after learning more about Inkitt's intentions, it was hard to come to the conclusion that I didn't want to be a part of it anymore. I wanted out. And hey, I STILL want out! I recently sent the publisher an email with a few more questions regarding my owed royalties (since I get paid every quarter and it's been backed up since last year.. suspicious!) and I'm still hoping to hear from them soon - most likely tomorrow!I'll be updating everyone both on social media as well as my next blog post in two weeks! So look out for it!Other than that news, I don't have much else to say~ It's been hectic in general and writers' block has moved in and refuses to leave. I'm sure February will be a lot better; if not for the fact that I'll be focusing less on writing and more on my living conditions, family, and possibly a JOB!Sorry for being sort of scattered with this week's blogpost! I'm not in the best of moods but I PROMISED everyone that I'd do an update on the Inkitt situation! Thanks for reading, regardless!I'll see you all next time, little vamps~~ Fangs & Kisses ~RJ CityLINKSBuy The Blood Diamond on Amazon OR Barnes & Noble!Become a Patron or Buy Me a Coffee!Read Free Book Samples on Wattpad!Follow Me on Twitter for Updates!Check Out My Tumblr, Instagram & DeviantArt!Join The Hunters Haven!Have a Question? Ready for the New Year!

Happy Sunday, little vamps! If you're new here, welcome to my bi-weekly blog! This is the place where I'll be summing up any progress I've made in any and all aspects of my life, not just writing! And if you're a regular visitor to the site, welcome back! :)Hey, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? I know I haven’t done a blog for the entire month of December (and at this point, I’m still cutting it kinda close-) but instead of focusing on any excuses or personal issues, I wanted to reflect on 2018 instead! Since it’s more positive and tends to put me in a better mood~2018 was.. good at times when it came to writing, but I ended up having a lot of temporary blocks due to my own lack of confidence, my mental health, or a family problem. Still, I had a great NaNoWriMo, I finished classes and earned a certificate in Creative Writing so that has to count for something, right?Either way, 2018 may have been a mixed bag when it came to writing/editing, but 2019 promises to be a lot better! My first priority for the new year has to be finishing up the edits for The Wolfsbane Ruby, a task that I’ve been struggling with since NaNoWriMo ended… but I’m not giving up at all! In fact, I have made myself a deadline for book 2 and it’s- sometime in February, but I honestly can’t make ANY promises! What with the beta reading and the edits with the publisher, not to mention the book cover creation and HYPE~ But I will definitely be keeping you all updated so.. to whoever even reads these blogposts: be sure to stay up-to-date with the latest by following my social media sites (found BELOW)All in all, I can’t wait to get going on my sequel; I only recently realized how many people (family and friends specifically) are really anticipating my upcoming book! It actually gave me a confidence boost that I hope will last the following weeks as we exit the holiday time and get back to business!Happy holidays, everyone! Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you at least have an amazing rest of 2018, and an even better new year!
