#44: What a Busy Month!

Hey, everyone!I hope everyone who reads this is keeping safe and staying healthy!We've reached the end of May, and I'm honestly... pretty exhausted. Last week, I scrambled to do some final edits for one of the last stages when it comes to publishing The Blood Diamond with my publisher, Limitless! Let's just say that a release date will be announced soon- so make sure you're following me on any of my social media sites (namely Twitter, Tumblr or Facebook!) Other than all of the editing I've been doing for my book, nothing else has really surfaced that's worth mentioning-I'm still keeping everyone in my home safe as I can, even if there are certain stressors lately which leave me feeling drained and useless. But that's enough of my personal life for now-! If you're reading this, odds are that you care more about writing/publishing updates than life stuff! Unfortunately, as I said already, other than the sprint to edit The Blood Diamond, I haven't done much else in the writing department lately. May felt like it came and went so fast, and most of the time I was either making YouTube playlists in order to ease some excess anxiety or drawing my characters during the afternoon. Oh, right! I've also been working with the book cover designer and was shown what The Blood Diamond's cover could possibly look like and I gotta say- it looks AMAZING! And I can't wait to share it with the world! Yet another reason to follow me through social media- I'll be revealing the cover (as well as sneak peeks and updates) through them!Other than that, there's not much else to say for now! I might update this blog once The Blood Diamond has its official release, so be sure to subscribe to this blog if you don't want to miss such an occasion! What a Busy Month!

#43: Back in Business, Baby!

Hey, long time no see, everyone!It's been almost a full year since I last posted an update of any kind to this website. In case you weren't aware, I've since bought a domain so the site is now authorracheljoy.com! Other new news includes adopting Rachel Joy and ditching RJ City as my working pen name. Developments in my personal life mainly consist of me taking charge over most (if not all) of the cooking and doing the weekly groceries - which are now bi-weekly groceries thanks to COVID-19. Speaking of, I hope everyone out there is staying healthy and safe! I currently live with my parents - both of whom are at risk - hence my insistence on taking over the shopping to keep everyone safe and healthy.But enough about my personal life! You're here for possible writing updates, yes? No? Alright, for the handful of people who still manage to read these blogs of mine, just keep in mind that - from here on out - my blogs will be returning on a monthly basis; the last day of every month, to be precise. I believe it's been almost a month now since I signed on to a new publisher - Limitless Publishing for those who are curious. Ever since, I've been working hard with my editor and marketing team to get everything in order for FUTURE PUBLICATION!! I'm not sure if I can hint at the publishing date, but if everything goes according to plan, The Blood Diamond should definitely be out before the end of the year! Isn't that exciting?? I know that I've technically already published the first book of the series through my last publisher, but I've since managed to rewrite a good chunk of The Blood Diamond so at least there'll be new content for you guys! I want to finish by thanking you for your patience, especially if you've been hanging around for the past two years. It took me a good while to get back into writing. I had to practically force myself to reach out to Limitless and send them my submission. But I did it, and I don't regret a thing. I'm so thankful to still have readers even after all of the waiting, delays, and just... overall, my radio silence for the past year or so! So thank you from the bottom of my heart! And if you're new here and you somehow found my blog/site on pure accident? Welcome! I hope you like what you see and decide to join me on this publishing journey!I'll see you next month! #42: No More Delays!

Happy Sunday, little vamps!If you're new here, welcome to my blog! This is the place where I'll be summing up any progress I've made in any and all aspects of my life, not just writing! And if you're a regular visitor to the site, welcome back! :)I'm gonna keep it short since I won't be able to have to computer very long today (odd way to start, I know) Basically, May was chock full of editing fixes, art making, and dealing with STRESS like nothing you would ever believe and definitely something I don't want to burden anyone with~ So I'll just keep it brief and say that my mental state has been really low lately, and that in turn affects my ability to write. Of course, I'm still getting ideas like crazy and I adore my characters to the point of expanding their backstories and such (and their designs as well~) The whole writing bit is what's snagging me lately.Anyway, update on the publisher situation? I'm still in the process of getting my manuscript ready for Limitless, not to mention the fact that I have to fill out the query email with my information which, granted, shouldn't take too much of my time, but I just don't want to get around to it until I have my manuscript sample all good to go! Make sense? And since it's nearly summertime, I want to mention that I have a Wattpad anniversary coming up soon in June, the 6th to be specific! I'll likely have a Q&A/reflection of my time on Wattpad and just my time as a writer in general! I really hope that by the next time I have a blog to update, I'll have even more info about the publishing deal that I can relay back to you, whoever reads these blogs! #41: Remaining Hopeful

Happy Sunday, little vamps!If you're new here, welcome to my blog! This is the place where I'll be summing up any progress I've made in any and all aspects of my life, not just writing! And if you're a regular visitor to the site, welcome back! :)So I'm back from hiatus, huh? Bet it felt like nothing to you guys... but yes, I'm back! I honestly feel impatient to write and plan more now than ever before, so maybe that break was successful in rekindling my love for writing? Maybe! All I know is that this next week will likely be devoted to polishing the early parts of my manuscript for The Blood Diamond - all so I can send my query to Limitless Publishing and hopefully clinch a publishing deal from them~ I can only hope for now, so I'll try my best to stay focused on getting stuff done before my deadline next week- a deadline I gave myself, no less.On the personal front, family issues have risen up, but it's mainly on an emotional level, and there's not much I can really do to prevent these types of confrontations, and at this point? It's happened so much in the last month that I figure that working on my stories, drawing my characters even... it helps keep me distracted from the personal problems I've had to face lately.Off that kinda depressing note, I've had shit luck with my beta readers-- basically only ONE of them gave me any actual advice on how to make my story better and... yeah, I think I'll just stop recruiting beta readers since no one ever helps out in the long run. One person can't make the whole experience better, but thankfully I have my Mom to help me out a bit more now. She used to be a proofreader- still is, technically! - and she's shown excitement over looking at my manuscript and finding any and all errors so I'm once again hopeful. Other than that, it's been a quiet month full of on-the-side character development, but mostly it's just been dealing with mental health and writers' block. Yeahhhhh.Anyway, that's it for this blog, I think! #40: I'm Going on Hiatus

Happy Sunday, little vamps!If you're new here, welcome to my blog! This is the place where I'll be summing up any progress I've made in any and all aspects of my life, not just writing! And if you're a regular visitor to the site, welcome back! :)I have some pretty big things to talk about this time around, so I'll cut to the chase: first off, I'm sorry I haven't written a blog all month. If not for the writer's block and personal health issues, I would've written something at some point, but I just couldn't! And I'm so very sorry about that.. so much so that I think I'm going to change up my blog schedule once more so that I post a blog at the end of every month; just so I have SOMETHING to talk about!As you could probably guess by the title, I'm planning on going on hiatus when it comes to writing and editing and... basically the manuscripts for any of my stories! I've had little to no inspiration or motivation to write lately, unfortunately.. the only joy I can find nowadays is in reading and making art, either of my characters or just.. art in general I guess! So I'm not technically abandoning my books or my characters... I'm just taking a month-long break from writing. I know this likely doesn't matter to anyone but myself, but I just thought the people who are supporting me and all that to know what I've been thinking.. now, thankfully, I've finished the pen name switch from RJ City to Rachel Joy - in everything except my physical book on Amazon of course - so I at least have THAT to be proud of. Everything else ehhh not so much! So to recap: My blogs will now be once a month instead of bi-weekly! I'm going on hiatus for (most likely) the month of April, if not a bit more? I'm not giving up on my reading or art, just the writing aspect for now... be mad at me if you want but... writing is honestly making me miserable and doubt myself right now so a break from it seemed fitting.Anyway, I hope everyone understands and has a great April!
