Hard Pressed has a cover

Hard Pressed has a cover, which I’m happy to reveal here. Unfortunately, I have no details regarding a release date yet. Owing to a computer error (not mine) a series of edits was lost and the publisher is working to restore them. I’m expecting them ‘anytime’. Once that first round is taken care of we’ll likely have a more concrete time frame. All I can tell you is that it’ll appear ‘some time this year’. It’ll be a relief for all concerned.

Still, I’m more worried about the time scheduling for Seduced by a Legend, which will be made clear as soon as you see the cover. Yes, I have it, but let’s deal with revealing one book cover at a time.

The cover and blurb can be viewed together on the book’s page by running through the dropdown menu to the appropriate link, or more simply by clicking HERE.

Something old, something new

Two pieces of news to impart. Firstly, the launch of my ‘new’ old blog at blogger. I’ve had this blogger account for sometime, and have always fumbled around undecided what to do with it. At long last, I’m going to make an attempt at blogging. Why not do it here directly on my website, I hear some ask. Well, for a long while, I’ve used the blogging features on this site for news only and I am aware some of my readers like it that way. I can fully understand why they want the ‘news’ upfront where they can find it. For those wanting to read anything I have to say or view any fun snippets I find on the internet, not to worry. They can head over to my blogger at the simple press of a button by clicking HERE, or any of the links to my blog found easily in the menus on-site. There’s not much over there at present, but in the next couple of weeks I’ll be sharing some insight into a recent trip of mine.

And something very new and newsworthy is a short story called Night Train has been accepted by Night to Dawn magazine. This will be the second work of mine they will publish, the first being Effigy in Garnet…quite some time ago now. I have promised to sub some more horror to them without leaving it so long between submissions in the future. Night Train is…well, it’s vampire horror, but it’s also got a romantic touch. It’s one that people read and say they like and remember even if unsure why. Maybe not the ‘keeper’ as my last Night to Dawn effort, but a story I have a soft spot for and well written enough that the publisher expressed an interest. I’m especially pleased as this is another non-romance credit. I don’t call myself a multi-genre writer for nothing, even though that makes life harder for me.

New Contract

Pleased to announce I’ve signed a new contract with Loose id — haven’t done that in a while — and it’s for a m/m romance in, I guess you could say the horror genre, although it’s not a scary story and is all about the romance, called A Not So Hollow Heart. I am working on edits now.

I also have the mock-up of the cover for Seduced by a Legend. I love it, but haven’t accepted it yet in case any thoughts occur to me for changes. Also, I just want to drool or at least grin at it for a few hours first.

Twilight Zone

And no, I’m not talking about Vampire romance fiction. I’ve a totally different reason for being quiet this time. I’ve had a rare two-week holiday! Even rarer I had no internet connection and was almost unreachable. Now that I’ve returned from the Twilight Zone, I’m due to disappear into the editing cave. More news on that shortly.

Me and Who?

How can I have even a tenuous link to Doctor Who? Well, that’s owing to my mate, Andy.

I guess I get to call him ‘my mate’ now seeing as we wrote a book together although I started working with him when he asked me to write for Space, 1889 with him as the editor for the project. I drafted my upcoming book, A Fistful of Dust, which will be book 5 of season 2. He then asked me to co-author book 2 of season 2 with him. So ‘my mate’, Andy, and I became co-authors of this:

Mundus small

Available from Untreed Reads.

Then he wrote a Doctor Who book:

Available from Candy Jar Publishers.

And he’s been nice enough to include my name in the dedication — a fact that came as one hell of a surprise. So my name is in a Doctor Who book, which, though tenuous, is still kind of cool. The book’s rather stylish and interesting too, and if you know the research that went into this even more impressive. I wish Andy all the best and every success with his guide to the Who Companions.

Slight hiccup

The next four weeks are going to be strange ones for me, and for part of the time I won’t be ‘available’ generally. There’s been a slight hiccup in the schedule for Hard Pressed. These things happen. All I can promise is I will do the best I can at my end to bring the project in as planned. I’m hoping to have some other news to announce soon, including the opening of a new version of an old blog. I’ve had a blogger account for a while, but not really done anything with it. I’m in the midst of clearing things out, sprucing it up, and then I’ll have a go at blogging. My news posts will still appear here for those who like it short, simple and sweet (bit like me LOL), but there’ll be somewhere else to drop into for other stuff. My blog will likely ‘open its doors’ towards the end of July.

Update May/June 2013

Hi everyone!

My light m/m romance short (10K) story Well Nigh Impossible released in May from Changeling Press. This came about from one of the flash fiction challenges Changeling runs weekly so it is a very light romance in content (blurb below).

Delighted to announce Musa have accepted my more literary m/m romance take of a classic entitled Seduced by a Legend. This is based on one of my favourite stories and is one of my favourite things I’ve written. Not sure it will do as well as some titles because of the literary spin, even though it had my editor crying with laughter. Still, I’m pleased it’s found a home. More news as and when. There are reasons I’ll be keeping a little quiet on this for now.

Waiting on edits for Hard Pressed (the companion m/m romance to Acting Out), and for A Fistful of Dust: the fifth book in season two of Space 1889. My first title in the series Mundus Cerialis co-authored (in just ten days) with Andy Frankham-Allen has received two excellent reviews so far. Yayyy us. I may have found a new niche, and will definitely ‘have a go’ at more steampunk, although probably not in the Space 1889 universe.

In the meantime, my immediate plans are to finish a novella/novel (not sure what length) I’m working on, then write something for Changeling and then possibly write something for the non-romance market. Busy busy busy.

Happy Reading!

Sharon x

Well Nigh Impossible:

It’s the end of the world as Colin and Nigel know it.

Another Armageddon predicted, and Nigel has said if it truly is the end of the world, he’d like to do something he’s never done before. Colin’s choice is even simpler: he’d like to spend his last hours making love to the person he cares about the most. The trouble is that the person is Nigel, and even if he turns out to be willing, the man is a friend and his boss.

Now fireballs are falling, and what they said in the heat of a moment is going to put them to the test.

What if they do something Colin thought was well nigh impossible, and the world doesn’t end come morning?

Blogging as a ‘Brit’ writer

A few of us are trying to breathe new life into the Britwriters blog (neglected for a time) so if you want learn a few things about British life from British writers (including their books), do pop along: http://wulfwaru.wordpress.com/ And oh…mine is the most recent post. :)

I’ll be back with more news soon. I’ve been in the writing cave, soon to be in the editing one, and I’ve been working on tidying and tweaking the website, among other things. All of which doesn’t sound terribly exciting, but are necessary ‘sometimes’ chores with occasionally fun elements thrown in.

Well Nigh Impossible available now!

I’ve just returned from a week in Cornwall where I experienced extremes of weather. One evening I was standing on the point of a cliff wearing a thin T-shirt in a warm wind (Bliss!) and then the very next day I found myself huddled and hidden in a raincoat wishing I had taken a warmer jumper. Of course, by the end of a long walk I realised the warmer jumper was unnecessary. I hate raincoats — they keep you dry and yet seem to leave you with a cold sweat during any form of exercise. Still, we were fairly lucky with the weather and had a wonderful and much needed break.

Nigel and Colin have to consider what’s happening to the weather and environment, in my latest release from Changeling Press, although their problem isn’t so much one of what to wear, but how to pass the time:

It’s the end of the world as Colin and Nigel know it.
