This week's oracle card reading by Tirza Schaefer

This week, it is important for you to be not only diligent but to devote time to your writing and all that comes with it on a daily basis. That includes reading up on writing tips, researching certain topics and specific terminology you might need to know more about, meditating on your story and characters, etc. If you can span the entire bandwidth of intellectual, creative and intuitive connection, perfect! And remember, do it with love. If you feel it is becoming a chore, remind yourself why you are a writer.

When you take the time to really get into your story on an intuitive level and speak with your characters, listen to them, observe them how they feel, act and speak, you will find you are gaining much greater insight and this revelation will overall enhance your writing.

The other great advantage to gain from using your heart and intuition on a daily basis to connect with your story and characters is that it will bring with it greater flow. If you have experienced some blockages, story and character-related meditation will go a long way to remove these obstacles and get you back into the flow!

For readers, it is advised to choose books that will touch your heart and make you feel the magic of life again. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a story containing magic. It can also be an epic love story or a self-help book that feels empowering to you and fills you with optimism, love and joy. This week is less suited for harsh, dark and sinister reading and more for books that caress your heart and soul in some way (and yes, I am aware of Halloween but these are the current global literary energies at work). Which books are you going to choose?

Tirza's Teasers: A Beary Little Christmas 1 (Tirza's Christmas Tales #3)

Suddenly, with a giant roar, the door was flung open and a grown Grizzly bear stood on the threshold, sniffing the air.

“Ma, run upstairs!” Ari called to Angel who stood at opposite ends of the room.

They both made a dash for the stairs.

“Don’t look back,” Angel called to her son. She had had enough wits to grab the box containing the salt and was now strewing it on the stairs while murmuring magick spells.

The bear followed them slowly but when he reached the stairs, he couldn’t cross the salt barrier. He stopped, sniffed and sneezed, turning away at last, he followed the delicious scent to the pile of pancakes on the countertop and gobbled them down in no time. Then he turned to the fireplace, looked at the merrily dancing flames and rolled up in front of it.

“Ma, don’t tell me he is going to hibernate here,” Ari whispered.

“I’m not sure. But did I not tell you to run and not look back?”

“You were behind me. You honestly think I wouldn’t look out for you?”

“You know I can take care of myself, Ari. Now go and get Arrow. Just be careful, he is not dressed. His clothes are still in the dryer.”

Ari groaned.

“So we have a naked Marine who is the only one qualified to lure a bear out of the house?”

“I guess. Our clothes won’t fit him.”

“No, they won’t. And as to taking care of yourself, I didn’t know if you had enough time.

Besides, how do I know you know any kind of magick spells involving bears? It’s not like they’re running down Bourbon Street all the time, right?”

“You wanna be smart with me? Go get Arrow and then tell your brother what is happening."

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Good boy.”

Arrow came rushing down without giving a second thought to the fact that he was naked. The boys stood at the top of the stairs, snickering and Angel blushed.

“Get a towel for him, will you?”

“Are you alright?” Arrow asked with panting breath.

WELCOME TO THE BOOKISH ORACLE, my weekend feature for the week ahead. There is a section for authors and one for readers. If you would like some guidance and enjoy some spiritual inspiration to combine your reading, writing and esoteric interests, you're in the right place!

This week's oracle card reading by Tirza Schaefer

This week, it is important for you to get the wider picture, the overall view. You may wonder why something is as it is or why the story you are writing goes in a certain direction but the why is not important. You are being guided by your higher self and to be able to see the wider picture is also giving you the ability to share and formulate things with and for others. Trust that there is a reason that will be revealed later.

When you gain clarity on what you want to create and how, you will find that you can bring anything into being that you want. Passion tempered by control is a powerful tool and will assist you in your writing. It may also be time to work out a plan or skeleton for your next project?

Have you made any promises to yourself and others? This is a friendly reminder from the universe for your to honour your promises and not to go back on your word. You may also write a character who is either honourable in keeping his or her word or someone who is struggling with that or not capable of it at all. If you have made a commitment to yourself about your writing or anything that supports it, now is the time to honour it. You are just as important as anyone else.

For readers, this week is all about bringing things into being. Manifesting desires. Pick a book about characters who start a new venture, run a business or follow their dreams. Passion is another thing to look out for. A steamy romance over a hot mug can work wonders. And if you have promised to read someone’s book, this might be the time to do it. If you have promised yourself to make more time to read, honour your word to yourself in the same way. Make sure your needs are met, too.

The book in the picture is ,A Beary Little Christmas, Book 3 of ,Tirza's Christmas Tales, a series of seasonal standalone novels, and the only shifter romance I have ever written and published. And because it is the only fantasy story I have published, I thought it would be fitting to use with this deck that was created on the basis of the House of Night Young Adult fantasy book series by Kristin & P.C. Cast which I absolutely love!

Crystals used in order of appearance are ,Chrysocolla (stimulates the throat chakra and helps us to communicate more effectively, strengthens the overall vibration of health and is great for teachers), ,Rainbow Flourite and ,Amethyst.

This week's oracle card reading by Tirza Schaefer

You have come some way in your writing journey and there is a fountain of wisdom, knowledge and skills you can draw on from inside you, as well as the writing community of which you are a part of. Don’t hesitate to draw on these resources, they will give you clarity, strength, fortitude and courage to venture forward in your craft and hone your skills.

It is also a time to slow down and set priorities. Life’s demands may have come in the way of your writing so you need to take care that you don’t burn out or take on too many things at once and ultimately get overwhelmed by the sheer multitude of it. Remember, sometimes less is more! Bring your life and writing into balance.

When you have accomplished the above, you’re in a perfect position to create something of substance and manifest your plans and dreams. It is time to make your dreams come true and this week is the perfect opportunity to do so. You have all resources necessary at your fingertips.

For readers, how about picking a book that features a wise old man, a king or some other male seasoned authority figure? If you love romance, maybe a trope with a more mature and/or powerful man is something you might enjoy at this time? If you like fantasy, ,The Light of Darkness series by ,Catrin Russell (IG: ,@catrinrusselauthor), or for contemporary romance, you might like to pick up the ,Closer Than Blood (including Book 4, ,Going Down) series by ,Jayne Lockwood (IG: ,@ladyjaguarwrites).

The book in the picture is ,Ria, Book 2 of ,The Milf Diaries series and the only one that is not a reverse harem but a one-on-one. As I had decided on using only my new Tarot deck, which is so colourful, Ria was the perfect choice to go with it. She is a somewhat spaced out spiritual painter and artist and the love of her life, Jordan, is a male stripper who regularly stands in the colourful limelight on the stage of his own strip club. But somehow, these two so different people fall deeply in love. If only Jordan didn't suffer from severe anxiety attacks each time he is even thinking about having sex with Ria...

Crystals used in order of appearance are ,Chrysoprase, ,Larimar and ,Lapis Lazuli.

WELCOME TO THE BOOKISH ORACLE, my new weekend feature for the week ahead. There is a section for authors and one for readers. If you would like some guidance and enjoy some spiritual inspiration to combine your reading, writing and esoteric interests, you're in the right place!

This week's oracle card reading by Tirza Schaefer

Ansuz is the messenger rune, connected to the Norse god Loki. Look out for new messages and information you receive at this time to inspire your writing. You may also feel called to try something completely new, maybe a new trope or genre, a different tense of POV, an unusual setting, etc. Be open to change, to bring in something new.

The Egyptian god ,Set is the ruler of chaos, the desert, thunderstorms and red creatures. Starting something new you are not familiar with can seem daunting and chaotic when you don’t yet know what you are doing. However, go with the flow and stir the ship through stormy waters. The messages or Ansuz will assist you to find new points of reference and provide you with information vital to your writing.

It is perhaps rather synchronistic that the last rune is that of the crook and flail, ascribed to the God ,Osiris, the mythological brother and polar opposite of ,Set. Osiris brings form into the chaos and through perseverance, you will be able to reap a rich harvest from your efforts. You may also consider writing something with a theme that combines polar opposites, as I have in my book ,Opposites Attract.

For readers, try to find a couple of books that seem very much opposed to each other in theme, cover colour or on any other level. When you read both, how can you combine what you have learned or felt in emotions? Did you enjoy both? What are the opposing traits within you that make this possible? Have you read my book ,Opposites Attract?

The New Book of Runes by Ralph Blum, The Eye of Horus Oracle of Ancient Egypt by David Lawson, Sacred Scarabs for Divination & Personal Power by DeTraci Regula

The book in the picture is Opposites Attract, a standalone contemporary rockstar romance. I actually picked it, as well as the crystals, before I pulled the rune stones. If you look up the crystal meanings, you will find that they suit each other perfectly.

Crystals used in order of appearance are ,Tiger Eye in a Sandstone Bowl, with the rune stones, from left to right, there are ,Smoky Quartz, ,Fire Agate and ,Carnelian.

The Bookish Oracle

WELCOME TO THE BOOKISH ORACLE, my new weekend feature for the week ahead. There is a section for authors and one for readers. If you would like some guidance and enjoy some spiritual inspiration to combine your reading, writing and esoteric interests, you're in the right place!

This week's oracle card reading by Tirza Schaefer

When you write, surrender to your own Divine guidance. Your blank white page is in front of you and it can seem daunting but when you tap into that inner space that drives your Divine creative spirit, you will be lead onto a journey of creation that will come naturally and flow in the way it is meant to.

Do not try to force this process or squeeze your writing into a preconceived idea and parameters. Chances are, what comes when you write from a place of surrender, you will create something much greater than you had initially planned.

The Ten of Air (Swords) reminds us of not limiting ourselves. A cycle has ended and how befitting that it falls into the week starting with a full moon. You may have finished a project or wish to change employment. Perhaps write full time? Whatever it is you have accomplished, do not fear the new, the change. Go boldly at it and remember that life itself is constant change. Go with the flow and trust that new beginnings are exactly what is needed and best for you at this moment to establish the most conducive circumstances for creating new works of storytelling.

The Unicorns remind you to hydrate properly. If you do not have enough fresh water in your system, your brain cannot function as well as when you are sufficiently hydrated. It can also be a reminder to seek inspiration in or near bodies of water, lacking that, a bubble bath or shower may be just the thing to relax you, relieve stress and tension and get your head into the space of writing mode. Water also signifies emotions and feelings. Take time to feel into your characters. When you feel what they feel, you are able to bring it onto the paper and your characters will come to life. Inanimate objects do not have feelings. Living beings do. Don’t be afraid to explore your characters’ emotions and with them, your own.

This week's oracle card reading by Tirza Schaefer

Healing information is vital for you at this time, whether you need it to sustain yourself physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually to be able to function and write at your best, or maybe you want to research something that will be incorporated into your current work to pass on information to others that may be useful to them, even within the context of a fictional story. Words are powerful and information that can help yourself and others should be shared.

While there may be obstacles in your way, they are not insurmountable and if you do some grounding techniques like gardening, crafting, walking in nature, etc., it will be easier for you – or your character(s) to implement the information they have received in their daily routine for greater healing benefits.

In that way, you are able to work through your own transformation while you write, which can be very healing in and of itself, and you can, through your story, exemplify healing transformation and how this can look like in a pragmatic, mundane approach. The integration of information is vital in order to incorporate and implement it in one’s life.

Readers, pay attention to anything you read that touches you in a special way. Often there is great wisdom, healing and teaching coming in the guise of seemingly little things and minor details. Be open to pick out the messages you receive when you read between the lines. Use positives storylines as examples and blue prints for your own life where you feel it will be beneficial for you.

The book in the picture is ,Tank, Book 1 of the ,Seals in Spain trilogy by Tirza Schaefer. (More to come.)

In Tank, one of the themes is emotional healing, another is to trust and follow your intuition and inner guidance. The crystals and the painted stone I chose before the reading. They are ,Orange Calcite, ,Red Jasper and a snake local to the area in Germany where I live, called ,Bergisches Land. Snakes stand for wisdom and healing, as well as the circle of life, which would connect nicely to the first card again. The crystal tree I chose for the book picture below is ,Citrine.

Tirza's Teasers: Tank 2 (Seals in Spain #1)

“Sarah! It’s so good to meet you. I hope you had a pleasant flight?”

He shook her hand warmly and turned on his most radiant smile. It worked. Sarah felt like floating on air as they exchanged pleasantries while he led the way to the car, taking care of her luggage without a word. It seemed to come instinctively to him to be a gentleman. She could detect no conscious effort on his part to remember to treat her with the utmost civility, but rather, it seemed that this came to him naturally and was part of his personality.

At the car, he first opened the passenger door for her before stowing the luggage and then going to pay the ticket. Sarah had always had a thing for men holding doors open and pulling out chairs and the like. Dom was the type of man, it seemed, who did all this effortlessly. Coupled with his sex-on-a-stick good looks, his impression on her was lethal.
