David Vienna's Blog, page 246

March 3, 2015

I've been following you and other dad blogs for awhile now and it seems like such an awesome community. I was just wondering, how did you get started blogging? Was it always your goal to be part of this group?

No, I didn’t know there was even an organized community of dad bloggers when I started. I just wanted to write about my family, maybe make some people laugh.

Then, I met Charlie of how2beadad and he kind-of introduced me to the community. I still feel like a bit of an outsider, though, because my goals for my blog aren’t the same as most. But, that’s why the group is so cool—we’re all dads first. So, I found something in common with everyone I’ve met.

Pack Mentality - Knock Knock

Pack Mentality - Knock Knock:
Our dog Mike passed away a little over a year ago and the boys have been pleading for another pet. They wanted one so badly, they were drawing fish, cutting them out, taping string leashes to them, and walking them around the house…

I did another post for the official knockknockstuff blog. It’s about parenting, our new dog, and my old habits.

This is Oren.

He helped organize dad bloggers worldwide into a group on Facebook where we can share ideas, talk out issues, debate stuff. For that and other reasons, whether you’re heavily involved in the dad blogging community or not, we all consider him a sort of Papa Bear.

I had the good fortune to meet him at my first Dad 2.0 Summit. He was kind and welcoming.

He died yesterday after a nine-month battle with cancer.

I’m glad to have met him, I wish I knew him better, and I will miss him.
