Hemingwrite or write like Hemingway?
Later this year a new device aimed at anyone who types will be available. The device is named TheHemingwrite. It is a distraction free device that allows a person to type without the luxuries we have become accustomed to in portable devices, namely laptops. Unlike a laptop it’s main purpose is for the sole act of what it is designed for, writing. It provides the look and feel of an old school typewriter with some high tech wizardry to make it cool. If you want to focus on writing then this is...

The spark of a story idea
A good while back a friend sent me a link to an interesting news story. After reading it I got the idea for a story that was something in the lines of Grumpy Old Men in the Mob. Here is part of the story. I’ll post the rest at a later date. Warning: the dialogue used in this storyis crass at best, and can be down right foul, just the way some grumpy old dudes would talk, at least in my mind. Enjoy.

Influences and Favorites: Conclusion
I’m not sure how I escaped from having to read “Slaughterhouse Five” in high school. Actually, I didn’t read a lot of literature most students my age were required to read. Books like, “Fahrenheit 451,” “1984,” “Animal Farm,” and others were familiar to me only by their title and author. I did pick them up years later and read them for fun, not assignment. I’m kind of glad for not being forced to read these works of fiction during my high school years because I’m not sure I would have enjoyed...

Influences and Favorites: Part 2
The first two months were spent with the teacher (known throughout the school to be a hard ass) demanding rigid sentence and paragraph structure, one line of fact followed by two sentences of opinion, and so on. During the second month in class with terrible grades for my efforts I decided to rebel and write the essay the way I decided it should be written. When the papers came back I was surprised to have the equivalent of a “C.” Instead of reveling in the drastic improvement from previous a...

Influences and Favorites: Part 1
I’m sure each person is different as to when the really began to enjoy reading. Some people may say they have always enjoyed reading while others revel in the fact that they do not read at all. To the latter group of people I can only stare at them for a brief moment in complete awe at the lack of an attempt to preform something as simple as reading for pleasure. I understand the “I don’t have time” argument to a point, but if you can watch a marathon of drivel from the latest batch of so cal...
