What’s it about?
This is a story of love lost and found, of second chances.
Emma and Corbin – teenage sweethearts, first loves. Corbin finally found someone who believed in and supported him, despite his somewhat cavalier attitude to life and the sadness that permeated it. In Corbin, Emma experienced what it was to have someone truly see her, her ‘wildness’. Their love seemed impenetrable, that is until disaster struck on the eve of Corbin’s marriage proposal to Emma.
The lovers are separated by time and space yet they are never…

ReadAways
“Connecting Readers with Authors.”
That’s the motto of Readaways.com, and I think they’re living up to their promise. This website is relatively new. When they reached out to me a few months ago about doing a giveaway on their site, I was all about it. I think any website that’s willing to connect readers with authors, give authors a free platform to host giveaways, and give readers the chance to win is awesome.
If you are a new author, check this site out. They have a submissions link so you can participate in a giveaway. Today, one of my short stories is also being featured here. As a new author, I’ve been so thankful to have another opportunity to have my voice heard.
If you’re a reader, even better! They have tons of giveaways going all of the time. Plus, by checking out the flash fiction, you can get a feel for an author’s writing without the commitment of a book purchase.
Take some time, check it out, and happy reading!

First Love
Do you remember the moment you fell in love? Where did it hit you? At school, at the movies, on the street? Did you know when it happened that your life was over as you knew it, that you wouldn’t move through life the same person you were a moment before?
Love is beautiful, magical, and complex. It is impossible to understand but also impossible to ignore. It seeps into us, sometimes slowly, sometimes all at once, and changes us into something different than we once were. Love is the deepest, most painful, most transforming emotion in the human lifetime.
That is why I write about love.

A Diamond in the Rough by Elisa Marie Hopkins
It’s your last chance to win a copy of A Diamond in the Rough by Elisa Marie Hopkins!!! Go to http://gvwy.io/r24hfma to enter!
From Goodreads:
25-year-old model Sophia Cavall has a seemingly nice life walking the runway until she begins to receive death threats through social media and is almost kidnapped by a masked figure. She tries to fight off her assailant, but luckily the attempt ends in failure when mysterious business magnate Oliver Black intervenes.
Sophie doesn’t know it, but the stakes are high: her life and her heart. Desperately needing support, she turns to a few trusted people, and to Oliver most of all. But can he be trusted, who speaks the truth, and the question on everyone’s lips: who is the man in the mask?
Her checkered past returns to entangle her. She will come to realize that it is not dead after all…it is still very much alive.
A Diamond in the Rough is a love story, a thriller, funny in parts and moving in others. Most of all, it is a gripping debut novel that will have you guessing and turning pages until you reach the end.

Back to Busy
I sit in my lounge chair, sunshine warming my face and book in my hand. Lemonade sits beside me, as does Henry. When my eyes tired from reading, I turn my attention to my phone, browsing Pinterest and looking at adorable kittens. It’s ten a.m., and I have nothing to do today . . . which is just the way I like it. The rest of the day passes at my leisure; I choose where I go, what I do, and even do some OITNB binge watching.
Sigh. I miss those days already.
Summer is a time for sunshine and fun. If you’re a teacher, summer is a needed time for recharging. The transition back to fall, however…it’s tough. I’ve heard so many times that people just don’t understand how busy teachers are. Although I hate to jump on the complaint bandwagon, it’s true. Teaching is so much more than handing out worksheets and passing out books. It’s a chaotic, multi-tasking challenge to the extreme. It’s managing hundreds of people a day, trying to keep everyone happy, trying to handle unique situations, all while making sure they have the content knowledge. It’s handling emails, phone calls, and other paperwork while also trying to keep up with grading. It’s trying to be creative and invent new ways to engage students. It’s working well beyond the three pm bell. It’s so much more than many realize.
So, with the school year, I’m quite simply back to busy. It’s been an exhausting week of introductions and rules, of gauging where students are and trying to figure out where we’re going this year. It’s been stressful, difficult, exciting, and anxiety-filled . .. but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
The next few months will probably be even more hectic than I can imagine. So if you see less blog posts, it isn’t because I’ve abandoned my blogging or my writing. It just means that I’m back to busy, back to teaching, and back to my first passion in life :)

Fitness or Bust
So I’ve already said it: I hate working out. I hate exercising. I hate eating healthily. I would much rather hide my face in a pan of brownies and pretend that I still have the metabolism of a sixteen year old. Perhaps this is why, at times, my pants feel like they are ready to burst at the seams. Yeah, fitness has never been my thing.
But lately, I’ve been inspired thanks to my friend Jamie. Jamie has been dieting all summer . . . and has amazing results to prove it. When we go out, I’m inspired to eat healthier because she does. Even on weekends or nights out, she makes great choices and is super dedicated. Jamie also amped up her efforts this summer, too, when she bought Shakeology. Like a lot of people, she wasn’t convinced that it would make a difference–but then it did. She swears by it now; it’s helped her reach her fitness goals.
Now, she’s taken her fitness to an even higher level by becoming a beach body coach. Below, you’ll find links to her sites in case you, too, are ready to amp up your fitness. For me, I’m going to try and walk off the Chinese take-out I just ate and maybe fit in an exercise routine :) (baby steps).

Thinking Out Loud: Things I Love
I’ve been trying to share some things I love on the blog lately . . . everything from beauty products to songs. Today, it’s more Ed Sheeran for you. I just love his songs because they are stunningly beautiful. “Thinking Out Loud” has been popular, but have you seen the video? It is just absolutely gorgeous. Check it out below!
