Five Things I Love

It’s February, and love is in the air. . . and arctic cold temperatures, two-hours delays, and the winter blues if you live in Pennsylvania. There are enough blogs out there about what to buy your Valentine and how to make adorable heart-shaped cookies, so I thought I’d take a different spin (plus, my cookies usually are so salty or burnt that no one would want to read my recipe anyway). Once a week, I’ll be focusing on five things I love . . . from makeup to movies to handbags, I’ll tell you about my five newest obsessions in the hopes that you can find some new “loves,” too.

Once Upon a Time

Snow days, early dismissals, days off. . .lately, you’ll find me curled up in front of Netflix with Once Upon a Time playing like a marathon. Growing up, I think most girls are obsessed with fairy tales.  Princesses, magic, fairies. . .what’s not to love? Once Upon a Time does an amazing job at incorporating our childhood interests with the world of adults. I know, it sounds cheesy, but I promise it’s not! And, let me tell you, Prince Charming is, well, quite charming in the modern world. Even though you think you know the backstory behind the characters, the show adds twists and turns while elaborating on their interconnected tales. Trust me, you’ll get hooked!

Scarves

Yes, I’ve missed the trend’s beginning by like five years. I was never a scarf person because I thought that they looked stupid on me and I never knew how the heck to tie them. Enter infinity scarf, where anyone can throw a double loop over her head and look like she’s a scarf pro. I have also advanced my skills thanks to some helpful tutorials. On a side note, Target is obviously the best scarf haven . . . five bucks for the softest scarf I own? Yes, please!

Allegheny Coffee Company

No, the company didn’t pay me to write this.  They seriously have the best coffee, though.  Plus, it’s adorable inside. It looks like a chic coffee house you would see on a TV show, right in little old Hollidaysburg!   Cozy couches, a cute fireplace. . .check it out!  Plus, they have cupcake Fridays with amazing flavors.  So far, I’ve resisted the cupcake temptation, but I don’t think that will last very long.

Liane Moriarty

Yes, I know I’ve talked about her in other posts.  But ever since my friend Kristin told me “You have to read this author,” I’ve been obsessed!  She’s just so funny and relatable for twenty-somethings. I recommend What Alice Forgot and Three Wishes.

Pandora: Classic for Studying

I hate classical music. . .there, I said it. But I love this station.  It keeps me focused when I’m studying or writing. I also love that they take popular songs and adapt them to classical (Perri’s “A Thousand Years” solely instrumental is beautiful!).
