House GOP blocks Violence Against Women Act – The Maddow Blog
What exactly does this say about the GOP? That they don’t care about Violence Against Women? That they only care about their own women & They Know How to Protect Them?
Or, that somehow This Is A Democrat Issue?
The more I learn, the more confused I get!
Peace, love & protection for all,
Sherrie

5.0 out of 5 stars A Doctor Who Tells Us How to Cure an Ailment, instead of treating the symptoms!
5.0 out of 5 stars A Doctor Who Tells Us How to Cure an Ailment, instead of treating the symptoms!
Review By Sherrie Miranda
This review is from: The Art of Healthy Eating: Let Food Be Your Medicine (Paperback)
This book needs to be made affordable so many people can buy it!
I knew Dr. Delva many years ago and just found an old article about him. That’s how I discovered he had written this book. He is a humanitarian and cares deeply for the health of ALL the peoples of the world.
I want to buy this book, but the price makes it difficult to decide to buy it. Besides, I want others to be able to benefit from his understanding of the human body and it’s needs. I just read the section on Arthritis and it is spot on. These are foods and drinks and spices that I discovered through months of study and reading because arthritis has been a problem for me.
We are very lucky to have people like Dr. Delva in the world, who believe in cures for the cause of an illness, rather than treating the symptoms.
I wish that everyone in the world could have this book!
Thank you, Dr. Delva, for all your efforts to make the world a better place!
Sherrie Miranda
P.S. Those of you who know me know that I don’t usually write about health issues here. But I research a lot about how to cure health issues without Rx drugs. I am very happy to find that everything I need to know is in this book. I will be communicating with Dr. Delva about how he can make this book affordable & available to all.

More truth
Wow, Druidess (Someday, you must tell me your real name!), two in one day! I think you are in a different part of the world so I am surprised that you also had a full moon last night! Ours was stunning too!

The key
This is a beautiful quote on a beautiful day. I left my husband a gift to show the gratitude I felt for him & his love, left it downstairs last night. When I woke up, he had given me a gift too!
As Jule’ says, “What you appreciate, APPRECIATES!”
Peace, love & justice for all!

Why Writing is Better in Longhand
Thank you, Gavin, for this post!
You make some good points here, but there is something happening that you haven’t touched on. Handwriting uses the right side of the brain, the creative side. Typing, especially if you are a bad typist like I am, uses the left side of the brain, the analytical, logical side of the brain.
In my case it was very obvious as I couldn’t type one sentence without getting stuck and making changes and correcting stuff. When I hand-wrote the pieces, using script writing, the stuff just flowed out of me. It was a very natural process. Now if one types 120 words a minute, they probably could do the same thing, but for those of us that are thinking while they type, it just doesn’t work very well.
I hand-wrote almost my entire first draft of my novel. Then I needed to tie up some loose ends so I just typed it right into my PC. Now, THAT was the stuff that I lost, trying to copy it onto a flash drive.
I re-wrote those pieces, sort of half and half, I wrote down some of what I remembered from what I lost and added to it when I typed it.
You need to be loose and let the creative juices flow for that first draft. The writing doesn’t come from your brain; it comes from your heart and from the environment, much the same way that someone might get an idea about how to make electricity. Not sure how much sense that makes, but I hope you get the idea.
In fact, I am just realizing that this is why I am having so much trouble getting anything done on the prequel to my novel! I need to write it by hand first!
Thank you very much for this reminder!
Peace, love & harmony,
Sherrie

Yesterday, unable to face the monster word document of my second draft lurking away in my hard drive, I pulled out a notepad and started scribbling. An hour later, I found I’d rewritten an entire chapter of my book from scratch. It had been so long since I’d written anything more than post-its and quick notes that I had entirely forgotten the benefits of writing longhand.
It’s interesting to think that every author until recent times has written out their work by hand. The computer screen has only existed for a relatively short amount of time. In fact, many writers still make the decision to write longhand in favour of using a computer. Quentin Tarantino said as much in an interview with Reuters a few years ago.
‘My ritual is, I never use a typewriter or computer. I just write it all by hand. It’s a ceremony. I go to…

Walt Whitman Teaches Us to Question Everything
I am deeply grateful to Charles French for putting this short bio of Walt Whitman together. The links are excellent and extracting Whitman’s theme, the thread that is in all of his writing, “Question Everything,” is very important to all of us who are trying to make this world a better place, yet I never realized this before.
It really has me wondering if our leftist theme in the (19)80’s, seen on all our bumpers “Question Authority,” was taken from Whitman.
If you are a supporter of social justice, take a look at Whitman’s poems. You may be pleasantly surprised! ;-)

I have taught Walt Whitman in several classes, and this excerpt is from his introduction to the 1855 First Edition of Leaves of Grass.
Whitman was one of the greatest American poets and has been called the Bard of Democracy. He challenged the existing views of normalcy in the United States across a wide range of topics. We live in a time, perhaps even more than in the 1800s, when great pressure exists to conform to what society defines normalcy to be. I believe it is crucial for individuals to find out who they are, for what they have passions, and what they believe. With this thought in mind, I want to share this small excerpt:
“re-examine all you have been told at church or school or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem”
Whitman shattered…
