I was just looking thru old notes from one of the three coaches I hired to help me write my debut novel. I also was getting an MFA in Creative Writing, as well as having my writer’s group. No wonder it still feels hard to write this prequel! I am pretty much on my own!

I was so happy to hear about this prize! Dylan’s words still echo in my ears. For those naysayers: Have you ever written OR even tried to write a poem? Every poem I write, no matter how bad, makes me a better prose writer. It is really hard.
