Bronwen Chisholm was raised in Central Pennsylvania, the youngest of four sisters. Though she was not introduced to Jane Austen's work until later in life, she grew up reading the Bronte sisters, Gone With the Wind, and other classics as well as watching vintage Hollywood movies. Her love of books and literature almost led her to a career as a librarian. Instead, life and love carried her to Virginia where she took a position as a state employee and began raising her family.

As her children grew and became involved in their own interests, Bronwen returned to her love of the written word. No longer content to simply read it, she began writing. Though the first attempts ended up on a shelf for now, she would not be discouraged. Deciding to set

Read. When my ideas aren't flowing the way I like, I step away from my work and read something else. I'm an avid reader.
If that doesn't work, I try to do something to distract my mind. I love walking outside in nature--woods, mountains, water, I don't care. The smallest things in God's creation spur my wonder and the creative thoughts seem to kick in again.(less)

If it comes into your heart or mind, put it on paper. Don't second guess it--that's part of the editing process. Just get it down there. Pretty soon you'll have a page and a chapter and another. The more you do, the easier it will be.
Then, get a good critique group or buddy who will be completely honest with you. And take their comments for what they are, well meaning advice to improve your art.
And trust your instinct. I dislike 1st person and thought I would never write a book in 1st person; but when I was writing Georgiana Darcy, Matchmaker, I kept having this nagging thought that it should be in 1st person. I ran it past my beta and she agreed with me that she dislikes 1st person, but thought it was okay, as far as 1st person goes. I asked my sample audience, giving them the first 3 chapters written both ways, but could not get any definitive answer from them. Finally, one week before I planned to publish, it was bugging me so much that I just decided to do it. I rewrote the entire thing in 1st person and it made the book what it is. Best decision I made.(less)

Newsletter Changes

Hello!

As you might have noticed, my quarterly newsletter has turned into every other month. Maybe this is because of the release of Missing Jane, but I think I can maintain that frequency so I am making it permanent.

I wanted to thank everyone for the amazing response to this latest release. Many of you followed the blog tour and I received requests for the deleted scenes to be included at the back

Though this series is very intriguing the sudden changes in name spellings or use of wrong names (persons and places) is very distracting.

“Yes, I will be Mistress of Longbourn one day.” She pulled away from her mother’s embrace. “And on that day, you will step down. I will decide what is to be done or spent here, and who will be invited. You will be a poor relation dependent upon my kindness.”
Bronwen Chisholm, Mrs. Collins' Lover

“Your Heavenly Father, like your earthly one, loves you very much and only wishes the best for you. The difference is, He knows better what that is. If you listen, He will guide you.”
Bronwen Chisholm, Mrs. Collins' Lover

“I had thought that tall gentleman might offer for you.” “Mr. Darcy?” Elizabeth laughed. “He said I was not”
