Reviewers Needed for WOMEN OF THE BOOK OF MORMON

You guys convinced me. I'm going to do a blog tour for my upcoming non-fiction book, Women of the Book of Mormon. I'm looking for about 20 reviewers who are willing to post a review on their blog between the dates of March 15 and April 30th.

If you'd like to participate, please send me an email here: heather at hbmoore dot com

WOMEN Blog Tour:
1. I'll be emailing a PDF for you to read and write your review from. The book is not very long--about 90 pages, and it does have pictures! (if that...

Whitneys & Upcoming Marketing Ideas

Those of you who are following the Whitney Award Nominees will know that ALMA was nominated as a finalist in the Historical Fiction category. I'm very honored! I'm glad that I forgot about the pending announcement and slept in that morning (my kids were out of school on Friday). I checked my phone for emails and saw something about the finalists being announced, so I had to, of course, go on my computer to discover who had made the cut. The small screen on my phone wouldn't suffice. Since...

Sneak Peak: New Cover

Just finished proofing the final galleys for WOMEN OF THE BOOK OF MORMON. Release date: April 2010 (just in time for Mother's Day. Hint. Hint.) And . . . if that weren't enough, I also have a jpeg of the cover. Check it out! By the way, do you notice anything different about my name versus my other books?

Reading, reading

I've been putting off posting because I'm expecting a cover for Women of the Book of Mormon soon. It's not quite ready, so I'll update you on everything else.

Made it through the holidays (my son had pneumonia, so we were moving slower than usual) and through my birthday (still in my 30's, though just barely), and through edits on Women.

I've been doing a lot of reading. It seems I go in cycles. I read a ton of books in September, and now that I'm not actively writing anything new, I'm back to...

Alma the Younger--TURNED IN

It's done. At least one of the many steps in the multi-layered process of taking a book from the first word to publication. I turned in Alma the Younger to my publisher, and now the wait begins :)

I copied my cover letter below so that you can catch a glimpse of the submission process.

Dear [Editor:],

In the book of Mosiah, we learn that Alma the Elder has been made high priest over the land of Zarahemla. Life for Alma and his people is bliss compared to the previous years of near slavery in the ...

Editing & More Editing

Since I'm taking the day off from editing, I thought I'd update.

Alma the Younger is finished! At least as far as I can get it without extra eyes. On Friday I sent it off to the alpha readers. Soon I'll be back to working on revisions to get it into shape for submission. So far, I've received great advice from the alpha readers, and the most important news is that the story works. Yes, there's some fine tuning to be done, but overall, no major changes.

As I'm waiting for final verdicts, I've...
