THE WORLD IS MAGICAL AND BEAUTIFUL
Hello from a loss for words… all the love in my heart expanded… thanks to all who made the American Nightmare show one week ago so memorable and rewarding and for the birthday wishes too.
I wanted to share this morning’s profound experience with you…
Just got back from Hollywood Forever Cemetery, down the street from where I live, after dropping off sunflowers to Mark Lanegan on the third anniversary of his passing. Thinking of his life and loved ones and overall feeling blessed to have known th...

YOUR DEATH AND THE BREVITY OF BEAUTY AND WE LIVE ON FOREVER
I’m not going to share your name.
The beauty of this page and music and all related isn’t the temporal glory or accolades that never deliver like you imagined they might. Sometimes it all feels like exit ramps you pass in the middle of the night, through winding, upstate desert highway somewhere… slapping your face periodically in pure desperation to stay awake… leaning into faith’s shoulder a little too hard and landing at some arbitrary hotel for five hours of rest before the hustle gets too re...

FIRE
Thank you to everyone who has reached out. We are still not home since last Wednesday as it continues to rest safely within the red flag warning zone. I’m trying to offer some normalcy for our child. I’m being asked to promote upcoming shows and it’s hard to hone in on anything right now as we wait for the winds to subside. I don’t have a cohesive entry. Just some things written in my phone on the last few days:
Where is your utopia? I just don’t see it. City on fire and the wind in the hills sou...

THESE DAYS
Happy Holidays to you. And to not you too. To cold warmth and days stretching at their leisure. To everyone alone when it feels extra alone. For Christmas I want all animals in cages to find a home and to let me know what it feels like. Staring out some city window with a record on. Locked groove. I said I’m going to wherever is cheapest and furthest away but will probably just stay. For Christmas I want the speed of time to present itself in a way I can touch. I want you to conquer the next yea...

GRAND HIGH WITCH
Happy Halloween. It’s 4 something in the morning and my idea was to sleep longer than this since the next few days will be long. San Diego tonight. Chicago tomorrow. Los Angeles the next day. But coffee and you. All is wrong that is right and I let out a few absurdist laughs. At 9 I will ask my assistant to ring my chauffeur and arrange the logistics of the weekend’s intricacies between platelet-rich plasma facials and parasympathetic massage. Nothing is shocking. I am stretched on your grave.

OUTLAW FOR MY LOVE
October arrives again like a beacon of cool wind through the spent trees… we think all may be well for a while… but just then our phones start dancing about this week’s heat wave here in Los Angeles. I cry a single dry tear into the wall ac unit and the planet explodes. We shelter in place for the next year and re-emerge as Mennonites. I take good care of my horse and give my community rides from one side of the town to the other, oblivious to the war happening all over the remnants of earth. Ev...

$ORRY 4 YR LO$$
Substack Readers - Hello. I miss you… the morning scrawl of directionless fingertip clicks… all of the poor grammar and red underlined words. I guess I don’t know how to plan and play shows while doing anything else. My desk is littered. Yeah, that’s the problem. Set lists… stage notes… chargers without a purpose… bills… checks… cancel each other out… sunglasses… a battery… incense… candle… cassettes… a printer… and a Moog Grandmother on it’s side with matching travel bag yet to see the world.
I...
