About the Book

Four brand new Amish stories of coming home.
No Place Like Home by Amy Clipston
Estranged daughter Eva Dienner has been staying with her in-laws, the Riehls, since her husband was killed in a fire, but now she wants her son to meet his maternal grandparents. Upon her return, Eva finds that the man her parents always intended for her is living in their daadihaus and running the dairy farm for them for free, despite her suspicions of him taking advantage of her family. Eva knows she should put the past behind her, but is she ready to move into the future?
When Love Returns by Beth Wiseman
Hurricane Harvey forces Sarah Zook to return to the home she fled six years ago when she couldn’t face her stern parents’ reaction to her unplanned pregnancy. Upon her return, Abram King can think of nothing but the pain she caused him—until he meets Sarah’s daughter and realizes that he never really stopped loving Sarah. Sarah and Abram must find a way to face the truth of their past so they can rekindle their first love.
The Courage to Love by Shelley Shepard Gray
After the death of her Englisch husband, Irene Keim seeks a fresh start by staying with her new friends Mary Ruth and Henry Wengerd in exchange for helping them around the house. But when Mary Ruth and Henry’s son Marcus comes around, he isn’t pleased with the woman they’ve taken in and is determined to push her out. Misunderstandings abound, but both Irene and Marcus learn that people aren’t always what they seem.
What Love Built by Kathleen Fuller
Independent and headstrong, Carolyn is determined to forge ahead with the opening of her bakery, a lifelong dream, in the Birch Creek home she left ten years ago. But she’s in over her head and needs help with the cleaning, shopping, and deliveries. Carpenter Atlee Shetler is visiting Birch Creek to escape the memories of his late wife. He takes a job renovating the new bakery and finds the project—and its owner—to be much more than he bargained for. Both Carolyn and Atlee must face pains of the past if they want to have the bright future God has planned for them.

Five Things to Know BEFORE reading Amish Celebrations
Five Things to Know BEFORE Reading Amish Celebrations:
A Christmas Miracle – I loved writing this story about an overwhelmed young mother of five who has trouble coping with her life. I think Mary’s downhill spiral is more common than we think. Motherhood is a beautiful and gratifying job, but anyone in the role knows that it comes with challenges, whether you have one child or more. But there isn’t a parental rulebook, and depression among mothers often goes unnoticed or unreported. I want readers to know that it’s okay to ask for help. If you see a young mother or couple having trouble as parents, maybe reach out to them, the way a couple does in this story.
The Gift of Sisters – Have you ever been friends with twins? The twins I have known have a keen insight into each other’s emotions, intuitive qualities related to each other, and a bond that seems unbreakable. But what happens when both twins fall for the same man?
A New Beginning – Should a mistake be the defining event that sets the course for the rest of your life? Or can you forgive and truly have a new beginning? Forgiveness is freeing and encouraged by God, but it’s often easier said than done.
A Perfect Plan – This story was previously published in An Amish Wedding, but it remains a favorite novella. Most people say ‘if it was meant to be then it will come easily’. But what if it IS meant to be and there is an obstacle at every turn? Is God testing us so that we grow in our faith and as a person? Or is He giving us hints that we are on the wrong path? And how do you know the difference?
Why I wrote these novellas for Amish Celebrations — Each story focuses on an upcoming celebration – Christmas, a birthday, a baptism, and a wedding in the previously published A Perfect Plan. While the Amish celebrate all of these special occasions, their traditions vary from ours, and it was fun to incorporate a celebration into each of the stories.

This past September I was at the ACFW Conference in Dallas, and my publisher—HarperCollins Christian Fiction—gave us a couple of books that they had published. One of the gifts was The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna Gaines. As I’ve mentioned before, sometimes I don’t get a complete book read by the time this monthly newsletter goes out. It depends where I’m at with my own publishing schedule. But I started The Magnolia Story, and if you are fans of this TV couple on HGTV’s Fixer Upper, you might want to give it a try. I’m only a short ways into the story, but I love the funny and clever style of the writing. Also, worth a mention, this book has 4,814 reviews and is maintaining a 4.9 (out of 5) rating. You don’t see many books holding steady at that ranking.
