Always a trip to see that glowing red cloud in the sky. We've been working hard to stay on top of the feeding, and are hearing more are being evacuated tonight. I carry a mask with me just in case, but for the most part we do a good job of staying away from it. One resident told us a few years ago there was a small accidental release of SO2 from a nearby plant and it killed all of his farm animals. are not to be messed with. #salvationarmy #bigisland #prayforpuna

The work is going well on the Big Island. The Salvation Army is responsible for feeding about 300 displaced victims, 3 times a day. We are focused on partnering with local food vendors to support their business, so its wins for all. Sometimes the vendors can cater the meals, sometimes we need to help move the food. The box we are carrying in this picture is called a "Cambro", it's an insulated food carrier and simplifies moving it from point A to point B. We won't take pictures from the shelters, but this should give you an idea of some of the work we are doing here. There are many great agencies working together and I'm very proud to be part of it. #prayforpuna #salvationarmy #bigisland

Its always fun to meet my photography students, just never happened on a disaster before! Capt Ruwethin is the corp officer here and studied my Nikon D3200 crash course to learn photography a few years ago. I hope we can go shoot before I leave in a few weeks ☺️- update on the situation here - we are responsible for the feeding programs and it is going smoothly. It feels like there are a lot of unknowns- it might simmer down, go on like this for weeks, we just don't know. I'm honored and happy to be here. #prayforpuna

I've been asked to head over to the Big Island on Tuesday to help the Salvation Army with some of the aid work over there regarding the Volcano . Being that it was full of violence, bad language and crude humor, I still can't understand why I liked it so much and will probably see it in theaters again. Amazing soundtrack. It reminds me of an X-Men version of Guardians of The Galaxy vol 1. So many easter eggs and references to other movies.



It's definitely not for kids, but if you grew up on comic books as I did, you will really enjoy it.
