A quick AUTUMN competition

Three weeks since I last posted . . . that's not good!

I've been trying to get the bulk of the third HATER book written before DOG BLOOD hits the shelves next month. I'm a third of the way in to what I hope will be the final(ish) draft, and there are another few weeks work ahead of me yet. If I can get it done and delivered then that gives me much more opportunity to get out and about to promote DOG BLOOD (which, I'm pleased to report, seems to be going down well so far).

The AUTUMN movie was...

New edition of HATER and the first DOG BLOOD reviews

The US mass-market paperback edition of HATER is now available. If you'd prefer to get your hands on a hardback and you don't yet have a copy, shoot over to Amazon.com where it's currently on offer for an incredibly low $8.78 – a 60% saving!

I'll be launching a new HATER website very soon, and the 'Projekt' you might have heard me talking about will finally be revealed. In the meantime, here's a photograph (courtesy of Gavin) to whet your appetite…

And finally… the publisher's advance mailing h...

Congratulations to Coscom Entertainment and Eric S Brown

It's always great to hear about independent authors and publishers breaking into the mainstream. Congratulations to Coscom Entertainment who this week signed a deal with Simon & Schuster for a mass market release of two of their zombie / classics mash-up books, W. Bill Czolgosz's take on Mark Twain's tale: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Zombie Jim, and Eric S Brown's take on HG Wells: The War of the Worlds plus Blood, Guts and Zombies.

This is great news in particular for Eric who, as ...

AUTUMN at the QFT in Belfast

Here's the information I promised in my last post about the screening of AUTUMN in Northern Ireland next month.

I'll be introducing a 10pm screening of the film at the Queens Film Theatre in Belfast on Saturday 1st May. Prior to the film (from around 6pm) I'll be doing a joint book signing with Wayne Simmons. You can find more information and book your tickets here.

It promises to be a great event. It'll be my first time in Northern Ireland, and it would be fantastic to meet any of you who are ...

FLU by Wayne Simmons

A quick plug for Wayne's new book FLU, which is due out from Snowbooks this month. Wayne, as you may remember, is also the author of Drop Dead Gorgeous which I talked about a while back.

"There's a nasty flu going round. An epidemic, they call it. The posters say to cover your mouth when you sneeze, and throw away the tissue. But such simple measures won't stop this flu. Because when you catch the flu, armed police come and lock you in your house to die alone. When you catch this flu, it...

Cross Pollination

As many of you know, I'm a keen advocate of viral marketing. I'm really proud of the fact that in the years I published my books myself through Infected Books, I spent less than £500 in total on publicity. I think I owe pretty much everything to the power of viral marketing.

So, as you can probably imagine, when I was asked by Jeremy Robinson (author of Pulse and Instinct amongst others) to take part in a new viral marketing experiment with a number of other authors, I was pretty keen!

Jeremy h...

Don't spend $$$'s on second hand copies of the AUTUMN books

…because the re-issues are coming! I've just found out that the US paperback edition of the book (now scheduled for release in October 2010) is available for pre-orders on Amazon.com.

"With AUTUMN, David Moody paints a picture of a marvelously bleak dystopian future where the world belongs to the hungry dead. It's the creepy start to a compelling series." –Jonathan Maberry, multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Patient Zero and Zombie CSU

"Zombie fans rejoice!  One of the original...

AUTUMN – US DVD released today

It seems like we've been waiting forever, but from today the AUTUMN movie is finally available (legally available!) on DVD in the US. You can order a copy from Amazon.com, get it via Netflix or rent it from . I'm told it'll soon be available from over 20,000 retail outlets too.

AUTUMN has always been a polarising story: lots of people like it, plenty more hate it. It's an unconventional approach to zombies that seems to annoy as many readers as it pleases, and the movie adaptation is...

Scott Sigler's 'The Starter'

Regular visitors to this site will know that I'm a big fan of Scott's (in fact, he was kind enough to say this about a a certain new novel being released in early June: "Moody nails what it means to be human by making humans into something else. A brilliant, savage, species-wide look in the mirror.").

Last year, Scott released THE ROOKIE, and now he's back with the sequel: THE STARTER. Out in September but available now for pre-order, it's described as "Star Wars meets The Godfather meets Any ...

The Day of the Triffids

After an Easter weekend away at the mother-in-law's in East Anglia, researching the third HATER book (no blood was spilled – that comment will make sense in about 18 months time!), I'm back with a few quick updates.

First off, I was recently asked by Mathew F. Riley to answer the question "which book would I like to be buried with?" for Horror Reanimated. My answer won't be a surprise to anyone who has followed me for any length of time: it was John Wyndham's classic 1951 post-apocalyptic...
