In honor of the The Kennedys TV miniseries

here is a book excerpt from The King Whisperers, featuring the architect of much of the Kennedy campaign magic, Larry O'Brien. Some of the ideas and tactics the movie attributes to RFK as campaign manager were actually O'Brien's.

Camelot's Merlin: Larry O'Brien

Major changes in the field of political campaigns and consulting occurred in the 1950s and 1960s, some related to the political career of John F. Kennedy. One of the features of the post–World War II American political system was the...

Book excerpt from The King Whisperers

#amwriting #newbooks #politics #history #news

As promised, here is the intro to my new book due out in March:

The King Whisperers: Power Behind the Throne from Rasputin to Rove.

We thought, because we had power, we had wisdom.

- Stephen Vincent Benet

In the summer and fall of 1503, Niccolo Machiavelli represented his beloved Florence in negotiations with one of the most ambitious and dangerous men in Europe at the time, Cesare Borgia, the son of the Pope.

Obama's Numbers Up/We've Seen this Movie Before

His approval rating has risen to 50 percent, with only a mention of forthcoming GOP-led investigations and a possible House vote to repeal Health Care changes. If Republicans push the investigation thing too far, just watch how fast Obama's ratings numbers go up.

I think we now know the answer. The only question is, ...

McCain Compares Palin to Reagan, Jesus Christ, and Mahatma Ghandi
