Raising kids or fighting demons…how do you choose?
I’m so excited to be blogging at Jane Myers Perrine’s cyber-home today, especially when she posed the question of choosing between being a soccer mom or a Demon Hunter. Because, really, what mom hasn’t had to make that choice? Why just this morning, I had to choose between getting my kids to school on time or slaying the demon that came barreling in through the back door. (I chose slaying—trust me when I tell you that spatulas aren’t only for flipping eggs.) And then there was the time that —Please stop by and say hi!Oh. Wait.
That’s not my life. That’s Kate. Read More….

What’s your punishment workout of choice?
I’m over at the Whine Sisters today whining about how much I don’t like working out … but also about how I’ve found a workout that, yes, works for me. Tabata sprints!
Read all about it here.
Do you do Tabata’s? What’s your favorite workout?

The new blog
And, yet again, I've moved the blog.
Which means that, now, for your blogging pleasure, you can find me over at my new everything-and-the-kitchen-sink blog, Angry Superheroes, www.angrysuperheroes.com
This blog will stay active for Julie Kenner book related stuff only (which means if you're looking for J.K. Beck news or homeschooling stuff or writing tidbits or follow-ups on Isabella's cleft surgeries, that's the place to be).
Also, I've had some reader mail with broad questions about writing, and I'll be posting the answers over there. So check it out!
Seriously. It's where all the cool kids will be hanging.

New Kate Connor/Allie short story coming!
Kate's coming this March!
A new Kate & Allie short story is coming out in March 2011 in the THOSE WHO FIGHT MONSTERS anthology!
I'm totally psyched–I don't usually write in a short format, but this story was an absolute blast to write, and I think fans will really enjoy it. It's unusual for the series because for the first time, we're not just in Kate's head (yes, we get into the mind of a teenager; that's scary in and of itself, eh?)
Isn't the cover fab?
And check out the Table of Contents–it's even better!

Help build a library in Africa…and possibly win free books for you!
Some of the kids of Malawi
Have I got an idea for you….My friend Alyson (the daughter of a friend) is recently out of college and has taken a permanent position in Malawi. I'll probably get her title wrong, but I'm going to call her a missionary–she's living in an area ravaged by poverty, where she might go days without power or clean water–and she's working to build a library for the people of the community.
Our local community has really jumped to the task, and my friend's house is crammed full of boxes of books. (The daughter is home for a few months and staying with mom and dad before returning to Malawi). That's awesome, right? Well, here's the thing: shipping these books to Malawi is going to cost thousands of thousands of dollars which, needless to say, neither my friend nor the Malawi people benefiting from the library have.
She doesn't have a paypal account set up, but I volunteered to filter funds through mine. So if you want to help defray some of the shipping costs (any amount helps!) you can send money via Paypal to julie@juliekenner.com and I'll get a check to her (you can also mail a check to me at
105 Wildwood Road
Suite 103, PMB 120
Georgetown, TX 78633
Be sure to include "Malawi" in the message section of Paypal or "for" line of the check.
But wait! There's more! Donate more than $5, and as a special thank you, I'll put you in a drawing for a full set of my Julie Kenner Demon Hunting Soccer Mom books, along with my J.K. Beck Shadow Keeper books, all signed, of course!
And here's wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
