21st Blogiversary

Hello. I just realized something:

This blog is 21 years old.

That’s right. My blog is old enough to drink.

How did my little blog grow up so fast? Who would have thought way back when I wrote its inaugural entry (you can read it here), this blog would still be around 21 years later?

Here’s what it looked like back then:

Remember those days? I do!

But do I prefer those days? No!

I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of early 2000s nostalgia out there. I’ve seen it, too. And I totally get why some people mi...

Happy Galentine’s/Valentine’s Day! Look Up Edition

I don’t know about you, but last year had so many ups and downs, I thought I was on a roller coaster. Some of those downs included:

Heart valve surgery.Canceling book tour/events (due to heart valve surgery).Elderly family members getting sick. Two books due (that I still haven’t finished yet due to all of the above).Netflix bailing on The Mediator series.Princess Diaries 3 stalled due to writers strike.

It’s easy when things aren’t going so great to get a little down. I’ve talked before a...

Holiday Giving

I had the best time at the Miami Book Fair! Thanks to everyone who joined me there, especially ALI HAZELWOOD, who I was thrilled to meet. She’s as funny and smart and good-hearted as her books!

(Thank you to Michael Blades for the photo.)

If you weren’t able to make it to the fair this year, don’t despair! You can still get signed/personalized copies of any of my books as holiday gifts for yourself or others. Because OBVIOUSLY you’re giving books this year! Studies now show that depression and ...

Miami Book Fair

Join me at the Miami Book Fair! I’m doing TWO WHOLE PUBLIC EVENTS!

(Less than six months out from heart valve surgery, two events in two days is a LOT for me! But I love the Miami Book Fair, and books and libraries in Florida are under attack! So I couldn’t miss the MBF. I will, however, be wearing more sensible shoes this time, since heels aren’t necessarily the best footwear for fighting fascism and/or recovering from heart surgery.)

Thank You

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make the launch of Enchanted to Meet You such a success!

You’ve all kept the staff at Books and Books in Key West busy with signed/personalized orders. I love that so many of you are supporting indies!

And I love that so many of you are supporting witchy romance! I love witches and witchy media all year round, not just during the Spooky Season–and I love that so many of you feel the same way. Witches are symbols of female empowerment, and I think we could...

My Experience in NYC on 9/11

Every year during the week of 9/11 I post a personal essay about my experience living in Manhattan a few dozen blocks from the World Trade Center on 9/11. My husband was working in a building across the street from the Twin Towers when the planes hit.

I post this essay because it’s important to me that people remember that morning twenty-two years ago – not the horror of it (though it was horrible), but the bravery that so many people displayed that day, facing adversity not just with coura...

Enchanted To Be Here – LITERALLY!

I had so many plans for this summer. I was going to: Attend speaking engagements. Visit friends and relatives. Write books.

Instead, what I got to do was: Have Heart Surgery.

I’ve had a leaky heart valve for more than a decade (your doctor can detect a leaky valve with their stethoscope during your yearly check-up), so I knew I was going to have to get surgery for it someday.I just didn’t expect someday to be THIS SUMMER!

The good news is: my heart is fine now thanks to the amazing medical staf...

New Book and Movie News

Happy Memorial Day (to those who celebrate)!

Although of course Memorial Day is officially about honoring and mourning those who gave their lives in service of their country, it’s also come to symbolize the unofficial beginning of summer here in the US.

If that’s true and summer is here (even unofficially) I’m exhausted already because there’s so much going on. Some of it I’m not allowed to talk about (yet), but here’s what I CAN say:

BOOK NEWS

I have a new book about WITCHES coming out on Septe...

Summer Reading

Summer is still a couple months away (how do these seasons and holidays keep sneaking up on us like this?) and there’s already so much great stuff to look forward to!

But before we get into that, I have to give all of you a great big thank you:

Thanks to all of you who purchased The Quarantine Princess Diaries!

Honestly, so many of you bought personalized/signed copies of the book through Judy Blume’s non-profit bookstore, Books and Books, here in Key West that they almost ran out of copies (o...

Quarantine Queen

It’s barely a month into the new year – and almost a month until The Quarantine Princess Diaries is released – and so much has been happening, I can’t even keep track of it all. Fortunately I still have this blog, which has served as a calming anchor (and To Do list) to me for all these years. So let’s goooooooooo:

First of all, thank you so much to those of you who purchased my books as gifts for the holidays! I signed/personalized so many copies that you bought through Judy Blume’s non-profit ...
