Charlie Cottrell is a history teacher in Northern Virginia by day and a writer of "speculative noir" (near-future, science-fictiony, hard-boiled detective stories) by night. His novel The Invisible Crown came out in December 2016. It's the first in a series about Eddie Hazzard, a down-on-his-luck, heavy-drinking, chain-smoking private detective who gets into cases way above his pay grade. There are ninjas and a talking gorilla named Vinny the Pooh.
