Don’t buy more toys in the hope of getting that one toy that your child will finally play with.
Children don’t need toys to start playing
Children need these 5 things
1. A sense of safety
If the parents are stressed or fighting around them – they cannot play
2. Open space
Children need to spread their things out. If they are constantly told not to mess up the space – they cannot play
3. Time
Children need lots of free time to play. If they are constantly being rushed from place to place or task to task – they cannot get into the flow of play
4. Inspiration
Children need to watch other children playing to be inspired by.
5. Support
Children require adults around who will support them with ideas and materials when required. This allows them to overcome them to explore and discover without obstacles.
Buy your child more toys – only after these things are in place.
Otherwise – toys will create problems instead of facilitating play.
