Day 58 of 90: Not Giving In #ASMSG #IARTG #IAN1 #SupportIndieAuthors #Inspiration
You know, when I reach the point of giving up, that’s when I know I am going to make it. I find myself questioning my will, my way. I’m not experiencing that now, just stating what I know is true.
I have an author friend that’s struggling right now. They’re sad, and questioning why they started writing in the first place. Worried because no one is buying their book yet.
I give as much advice as I can, but there comes a time where the best advice to give is patience and perseverance. Or, as my father used to say, “Hurry up and wait.”
I used to hate that phrase, until I came to truly understand it. There’s only one living being you control, and that’s you. Hurry up and do what you need to do. Once you are done, don’t rush what cannot be rushed.
It’s a hard lesson to learn, one I continue to struggle against everyday. Patience is a virtue, perseverance is a trait, putting them together is hurry up and wait.
So often in life we abandon projects when things get hard. Rather than putting our head down and pushing through the obstacle, we surrender. We let ourselves be defeated. Sometimes the obstacle is time, there’s only one way to travel through time that I know.
Don’t lose because you’re tired. Take a break, a deep breath. Reconnect with why you do whatever it is. Don’t give up just because it’s harder than you thought.

Insecurities
This is an excellent post. Don’t worry Alex, everyone’s story deserves to be told. Sometimes we end up writing a different story than we intended.
So this is going to be a really personal post with lots of ranting. Just bear with me, okay?
I’m an average girl. Average in looks, in talent. I don’t believe myself to be something special. Don’t have lots of friends, never been in a relationship, not talented in any particular art, not sure about my carrer. I’m just… Um ME.
And like every other girl out there I get insecure too. About what I’m going to do with my life. What if nobody loves me? There’s always going to be someone better.
I like to write sometimes, but I’m not particularly good at it and then I see so many talented writers out there with wonderful stories to tell.

Win A Doodle! Woo!
Another awesome author trying to make their way in the world.
Big- because I am larger than life.
Dude-I practice dudism.
Words-they’re what I use when I write books.
Ginger-I love it in my cooking. And I have been told I am one.
Blue-Is my favorite color.
Here it is! The moment you have been waiting for! It is time once again for…
Thank you for the fanfare, Mr. Elephant.
A WIN A DOODLE CONTEST!
(Woo!)
IF YOU WIN, I WILL DRAW WHATEVER YOU WANT!
Don’t believe me? I have proof.
Past winners have asked for a Caffeine Gnome…
…a Protective Great Dane…
…a Yoga Practitioner Petting an Angel Dog…
…a Larcenous Cow…
…and a Raven Shapeshifter (whatever that is).
Also a gang of unseemly hooligans forced me to draw this guy:
As a consequence of this near-criminal harassment, my doctor tells me I now have PTSD (Post Traumatic Salamander Disorder).
So yes, I will draw whatever you want.
Well, I do have one exception; I will draw whatever you want provided that what you want is not pervy. I am a…

Day 57 of 90: A theory in practice #ASMSG #IARTG #IAN1 #SupportIndieAuthors #Inspiration
In the greater scope of life, we have very little control. There are a lot of everyday scenarios that are completely beyond our ability to affect. You can decide what someone else eats for breakfast, but you can’t decide how much they like that food.
And yet we live in a society where too many people are worried about the actions of others. We try to control others, put them into nice little boxes with labels that are all wrong.
I don’t understand why. Everyone the world over has led a different life than you. They’ve made choices that changed the course of their lives, and who are we to judge their choices?
None of us have all the answers, and sometimes there’s more than one solution. Don’t make the mistake of believing yours is the only proper way. Especially if you live in a glass house. Karma has a crazy sense of humor.
Our world is ever changing, and there’s nothing you or I can do to stop it.
Why would you want to? Why would you want to halt the evolution of our species.
I say embrace the change. Accept that it’s coming. Accept that it’s not directly under your control, and adapt.
Eventually we as a species need to get past controlling each other, and learn to just be. It’s the only way we’re ever going to stop fighting.
