Immortal Kiss by Laura Daleo

I love a good vampire book.  But I think this book was a bit slow in the beginning for me.  Beth being in love with mist?  Weird right?  I thought so too.  But if you read on you learn more about this.  I think the book was interesting after it got going for me.  I had to read more about this mist.  I had to find out what it was all about.  * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  3/5

My Other Friends & Collected Scary Stories by David Kummer

All these stories were good too but I think “Ripper” was my favorite.  This was a another great book by David.  * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  5/5

Resonance: A Poetry Collection by Gary Beck

I enjoyed this collection of poems.   I don’t read too many book like this but when I find them I have to give them a shot.  I was not disappointed in this one.  * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  4/5

A Mirror Among Shattered Glass by Romarin Demetri

I enjoyed this book.  Who would think you would unearth your heritage as a descendant of serial-killer?  That would be bad I think if it were me.  I think this series will be one to watch out for and to see what happens next.  I enjoyed some of the characters and others was more of a love\hate relationship.  But the story was good and interesting for me.  * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  4/5

Day 64 of 90:The Small Things #ASMSG #IARTG #IAN1 #SupportIndieAuthors

It’s amazing, how the small things in life can make you appreciate it so much more. Usually, my wife wakes up, fixes coffee for the both of us. This morning, I decided to break that ritual, and make my wife coffee, so it was ready when she woke up.

The joy that lit in her eyes, when she saw a steaming cup of joe all ready for her to drink, priceless. I had to learn to observe and appreciate the things I had in my life. Growing up, I kind of took things for granted, and coasted through it all. It worked great, until an injury knocked me from my path. That’s not to say I didn’t work hard, I worked as hard as any CNA I know, but I never had to fight to survive.

And there is a difference, fighting for survival, and surviving are two different things. Working as a CNA, I worked harder than I ever did as a warehouse worker, though it felt like less and was more satisfying.

After my injury, I struggled to love life. I lost my focus when I lost my job. I thought I lost my health instead of seeing my health as failing. I had surrendered before the battle even began.

It took a lot of hard work to get it back, but I’m happy I did. Life is much better when you can appreciate the power of a flower bud opening. Or a parade of ants outside, looking to improve their hive. Or when you recognize the power of a smile, because you see the positive effect it has on you. I’m a firm believer in smiling, and how it affects everyone around you.

The Opening Bell by J.B. Garner

Honestly I wasn’t sure how much I would like a book about Women’s Wrestling since I am not into wrestling.  But this book was good.  It has a good story and characters I enjoyed reading about. I wanted to follow, Leilani, on her journey and see how well she did.  Did she achieve her dream?   * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  4/5

Pandemonium: Devourer of Souls by Derek Edgington

What a great short read.  This book has goddesses, immortals, demons, humans and many more in the underworld streets.  It is just as the title suggests Pandemonium!  I loved it! * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  5/5

The Fall of the Gods by Nicola Bagalà

I think this book is good.  I would not know the author’s first language is not English.  I think it was a good mystery and some superhero and classical sci-fi elements added it make it a fun read.  I enjoyed the story and would look forward to the next book.  * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  4/5

Day 63 of 90: Proud to be a creator #ASMSG #IARTG #IAN1 #SupportIndieAuthors #Inspiration

Being a writer is one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. It takes a brave soul to put their words out for others to pick apart. I say this as someone who struggles at times with grammar and syntax. You should see when I write something in rilenese, it looks like English, but it sure doesn’t sound like it.

Like everything, writing takes practice in order to get better. If you don’t put in the time how can you expect to have the product? Every step of the way is a challenge against yourself, and that’s before you even publish.

Now you have a product in hand. One that’s very close to you, and hard to hear criticism about. You want readers, and want to know what they think of your work, but are struggling to put yourself out there. I never understood some writers fears of being criticized. As if they’re worried they’ll break some unwritten rule that will make their book unreadable.

If you have done your due diligence, and have worked to put out the best product that you can, you should be happy! For all the new writers that come out everyday, they are still a minority. Creators are by far outnumbered by those who take in our works.

You can’t expect readers to know about your creations, without throwing yourself in front of their proverbial bus. Get ready to be run over, some people just aren’t going to appreciate your efforts. Don’t let a fear of failure stop you from succeeding. Writing is like anything else, you get out of it what you put into it.
