Day 70 of 90: Finishing Projects #ASMSG #IARTG #IAN1 #SupportIndieAuthors

What a great feeling, finishing a project! I know, I’ve still got a while to go to finish this project, but the other that I started at the same time is now ready for editing. Now comes the work part of being an author.

It’s interesting, going back and reading over your own work. You see the differences a little turn of phrase may have, and how that turn of phrase will help you to better present the image you wish to. Simple changes of words can make all the difference in a story, and make the difference between a great story, and merely a good one.

I’m a firm believer in expanding your vocabulary as much as you can. The more words you use, the more you learn how to use them, come to understand when and where to use them, the greater their impact becomes.

I’m not a wordsmith like some, able to effortlessly cut to the heart of the matter while painting a beautiful scene. I’m just a man who uses the words he has, and constantly seeks to add more.

English is such an interesting language, though I may be biased as it’s the only language I ever learned to speak with any fluency. However, I have had the pleasure of traveling all around the world, and seeing the interesting ways different cultures include English into their language.

The way we paint the world around us shapes what the world becomes. Where would society be without the great works of the artists? The painters, the playwrights, even a good old fashioned book. How would we see the world without these influencers? I truly believe it would be the world I wouldn’t want to live in.

Cruisin’ through books cause books make life worth living with Aly 4/17/2016 part 2

Rogue Agent by Kellie Wallace

This author is good at what she does.  I enjoyed this book quite a bit!  At first I was concerned with the futuristic time but it didn’t seem to bother me.  It made sense to me.  I love this fun and exciting book.  I was on the edge of my chair the whole time.  I would read more from this author.  * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  5/5

Day 69 of 90: Circadian Rhythm #ASMSG #IARTG #IAN1 #SupportIndieAuthors

I get a lot of work done late at night, or early in the morning while most people are asleep.

I believe it’s a combination of factors that makes this true. It isn’t just the lack of people awake enough to interrupt me, it’s the nature of our tired brains as well.

That’s why I choose to be an early riser. It affords me peaceful moments to better craft stories and ideas. A few minutes spent writing, hoping my eyes stay open wide enough to finish.

Some of my greatest ideas come when I’m tired. When my eyes droop ever lower, and I struggle to keep my head from my desk.

I do advocate getting six to eight hours of sleep a night, you need rest in order for your brain to work at peak efficiency. But don’t be afraid to work on a project because it’s too early, or too late. Be willing to work that little bit extra, because you never know what is going to come from your hard work.

I know my own circadian rhythm is all out of whack, from years working nights at a hospital, that’s why I’m not giving specific hours. You need to find what works best for you, as an individual. And remember, too much sleep is just as bad, if not worse, than not getting enough. Stay savvy!

Life After the Undead by Pembroke Sinclair

Most of the time I can take or leave zombies and apocalyptic stories.  But this book was a bit different for me.  I thought it was fun and exciting.  I enjoyed the story and the characters.  I have not heard much about this author but I was excited to give her book a chance.  I’m glad I did.  * I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*   4/5

The Hidden Twin by Adi Rule

Twins, one human and one Other.  The story had me interested but I was a little disappointed.  I wanted to love this book but I was unsure when I started it!  It had interesting characters but I just was not as excited as I thought I would be about this book.  I would read something else from this author though I think ADI Rule has a wonderful imagination.  * I received this book from Net galley in exchange for an honest review*  3/5

Quiet Neighbors by Catriona McPherson

I love the idea of working in a bookstore myself.  This book caught me there right away.  I could tell Jude was running or hiding from something.  I was curious to find out what.  The book was ok for me but a bit slow in the beginning.  I enjoyed it overall.  * I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*  3/5
