Lovelorn

Bogie misses his sweetheart, which is a big stuffed bear that Wayne inadvertently left behind in our Florida home.  Whenever Bogie gets a bone, he immediately takes it to his love and presents it to her.  It's the sweetest thing I've ever seen.  He seemed fine without her until Wayne gave Bogie a bone last night. Our dog searched the entire house looking for his love.  Seeing that Wayne is flying to Florida next month, I think it is his responsibility to return with the much-loved and...

Jun-u-ary, 2010

I have exciting news.  The sun is shining in Port Orchard!

Some of my swimming buddies have been calling our local weather Jun-u-ary, which is pretty much how it felt.  After reading the comments from yesterday, I guess I really don't have reason to complain.  But it does make your heart feel lighter when there is blue sky and sunshine.  And I do feel more light-hearted today!

Breaking Records

It's the first day of summer and Seattle is setting records.  The problem is, it isn't the kind of record anyone around here wants to brag about.  This is the longest it has taken to reach 75 degrees in any year since the weather has been recorded.  Today is overcast and cloudy.  Father's Day was rainy, overcast and more like fall than the last day of spring.  I'm sure summer will arrive soon.  I can only hope it will make an appearance some time this week.

B Roll

I feel a little bit like a movie star getting ready to step before the camera.  A film crew is here today and tomorrow to do what is known in the industry as B Roll.  I'm not exactly sure, but I think "B" stands for the background footage that goes along with a story.  My kids and grandkids are involved and even Bogie and Wayne are taking part.  Some of the video and still shots are destined for the redesign of my website, so stay tuned for updates later on!

When Work is Play!

I'm back from an incredible weekend in Columbus, Ohio, where I took part in TNNA, which stands for The National Needle Arts Association.  I schmoozed with the big name knit and crochet designers and rubbed shoulders with knitting celebrities.  I was there to promote the new Blossom Street yarn line that Universal Yarn is launching this August.  It was supposed to be work, but I had way too much fun and really, how could I not have fun?  I was with yarn people who understand the true meaning o...

Take care of your health!

I'm back in the office after being out nearly a week with my second go-around with a sinus infection.  I've learned a lot about myself this past week.  First and foremost, I do not make a good patient:  I'm cranky, short-tempered and demanding when I don't feel well.  Thankfully, Wayne loves me anyway.  Bogie, too.  Mostly, I've learned to be grateful for my health.

Getting My Groove On!

There's nothing like the smell of chlorine in the morning.  Yup, I'm back in the pool, swimming with my friends.  I fell right back into the groove with my laps and then power walking with my friends afterward.  We walk and share recipes.  I always leave hungry with ideas for dinner.

Bogie is back in the groove, too. I flew home after my tour, but Wayne drove home with Bogie.  Wayne brought him by the office yesterday, and Bogie leaped into my lap, placed his chin on my arm and looked up at ...

Home!

The tour for Hannah's List is now officially over.  Seventeen cities in five weeks can just about do a girl in, except that I met such wonderful, patient readers along the way.  Even the book stores I visited mentioned they'd never had such a fun group of readers.  Yup, no doubt about it, I'm blessed.

I have a ritual I go through after being away for any length of time.  I walk from room to room and take in all that's familiar, all that's home.  I smile at the pictures of my children and...

Diabetes Research Auction

Brenda Novak runs an on-line auction for diabetes research every year.  It has been my pleasure to support her efforts for fund raising for several years.  Check out her auction and see if there is anything that strikes your fancy (yes, I have an auction item!), or just plain donate, if that is your wish!  http://www.brendanovak.com/auction.shtml.
