Le Butcherettes Release Cry Is For The Flies on Sept. 16

LE BUTCHERETTES RELEASE CRY IS FOR THE FLIES ON SEPT. 16 VIA IPECAC RECORDINGS
AUGUST TOUR DATES WITH ANTEMASQUE   Cry Is For The Flies cover
June 26, 2014, San Francisco - Le Butcherettes have joined Ipecac Recording's roster and will release their sophomore release, Cry Is For The Flies, on Sept. 16 via the Bay Area label in conjunction with Nadie Sound.

"Since I created Le Butcherettes in Guadalajara, I've always yearned for the band to be part of a label/community that helps and supports artists to act fearlessly and help serve the music." explained fiery Le Butcherettes' frontwoman Teri Gender Bender. "So happy beyond words that we've found a family in Ipecac. Dream come true."

"We are EXTREMELY excited to be working with Le Butcherettes," said Ipecac Recordings Co-Owner Greg Werckman. "Teresa is a dynamic front person and a perfect fit with the Ipecac family. Not a band to miss on record or live."

The eleven-song release had previously been available exclusively as a digital download via producer Omar Rodriguez-Lopez's label Nadie Sound's website but, as of Sept. 16, will be made available on physical formats (CD/vinyl) as well as through various digital service providers including iTunes.

In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Teri said of the subject matter on Cry Is For The Flies: "There are so many demons I have inside - they're little gods. There's a god of evil, the god of good, the god of sex, the god of lust. With music, I tape into those god demons. It's therapy."

Death Vessel will join Mirah on her upcoming North American tour, in support of his recent release,Island Intervals.  The trek begins September 27th in Northampton, MA at Iron Horse Music Hall and ends on October 12th in Washington, DC at Black Cat.  The tour is preceded by an appearance on July 25th at Newport Folk Festival. The 8-song album includes the singles “Mercury Dime,” “Velvet Antlers,” and “Ilsa Drown,” which features guest vocals from Jónsi, who also co-wrote the track. Island Intervals was produced by Alex Somers (Julianna Barwick, Sigur Rós) at his studio in Reykjavík, Iceland.
What people are saying about Death Vessel:
“His eerily high voice sounds equally suited to basement-bound laments and celestial explorations, and Island Intervals finds him splitting the difference and exploring the tension between those extremes...Especially as it winds down with a pair of exquisite ballads, Island Intervals can feel deceptively modest and quiet. But where Death Vessel's music lacks grandiosity, it finds grace in abundance.” [“First Listen”] -   NPR Music "What Thibodeau does so beautifully is combine that feel with the homely, plaintive mood of Bon Iver’sFor Emma, Forever Ago to create an album of drifting, spacey, folk. It's the kind of record that rewards a dark room and headphones, or a long walk through a snowy town." [Review, 8/10] -  Drowned In Sound "Island Intervals is barely over half an hour, but it's so rich with mood and detail that it stretches out and out and out to the horizon and beyond." [Review, 9/10] -  Exclaim “...An elegant and haunting piece of work.” [“Ilsa Drown”] -  Consequence of Sound “The pair are a perfect fit. Their high voices glide over the gentle instrumentation, which picks up steam as the song pushes on.” [“Ilsa Drown”] -  SPIN “This is one of the most gorgeous things he’s done and a testament to the power of great collaborative chemistry.” [“Ilsa Drown”] -  Twenty Four Bit Tour Dates

The Antlers' North American tour begins today

THE ANTLERS’ NORTH AMERICAN TOUR BEGINS TODAY  FAMILIARS  OUT NOW TO SWEEPING CRITICAL ACCLAIM ON ANTI- RECORDS“Ever more sure-handed and ambitious in its arrangements, the band crafts gorgeous backdrops for Silberman...”—NPR Music“Familiars finds the Antlers on a new, magnificent level of heavy songwriting.”—Rolling Stone“The stately beauty of Familiars is the latest satisfying effort from a band that continues to reward those listeners who give them the attention their elegant, secretly weird music deserves…Against all odds, they’ve become one of the most interesting indie rock bands working.”—Pitchfork“It’s safe to say that the group has reached a point in their career where they are largely peerless…This is no longer a band that is finding their voice, but one that has found it”—Consequence of Sound“They’ve only moved further toward thoughtful grandeur…”—Stereogum“One of 2014’s strongest releases”—PopMattersThe Antlers begin the North American leg of their worldwide tour tonight in Cambridge, MA at The Sinclair, playing shows nationwide including two nights at Los Angeles’ Troubadour in July and a hometown show in New York at Webster Hall July 26. Brooklyn Vegan recently praised their release day show at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade saying, “The band may not have gotten loud last night, but damn if they weren't powerful.”The band is celebrating the release of their fifth studio album  Familiars , out now on Anti- Records in the U.S. and Transgressive Records in the U.K. and garnering widespread acclaim. NPR calls the record “sure-handed and ambitious” and praises “its emotional openness, its rich sound, its mix of subtlety and grandiosity, [and] its funereal beauty,” while The Onion’s A.V. Club says it “boasts the band’s most wonderfully expansive songwriting” and Flavorpill says it “deserves your undivided attention.”Pitchfork recently premiered the video for “Hotel,” the second pre-release track available from the album, watch ithere. Of the track, SPIN says, “‘Hotel’ trades on The Antlers’ strengths: drowsy horns, twinkling keyboard bits, muted guitar, and lyrics that confront mortality, whether they’re intended to or not.”Familiars follows 2011’s critically lauded Burst Apart, which Pitchfork named Best New Music and NPR called “a delicate mixture of grace and intensity.” Familiars was recorded, engineered and produced by the band in their Brooklyn studio and mixed by Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Beach House) at DNA Downtown Studios. The Antlers is Peter Silberman, Darby Cicci and Michael Lerner. Silberman founded The Antlers in 2006 as a solo project and released two bedroom-recorded LPs before enlisting Cicci and Lerner to round out the group. As a trio they recorded and released 2009’s breakout Hospice and Burst Apart, as well as the 2012 EP Undersea.THE ANTLERS TOUR DATESJune 25                                                     Cambridge, MA                                              The SinclairJune 26                                                     Philadelphia, PA                                         Union TransferJune 27                                                        Toronto, ON                                            The Mod ClubJune 28                                                      Columbus, OH                                        A&R Music BarJune 29                                                         Chicago, IL                                                 Lincoln HallJuly 1                                                      Minneapolis, MN                          Triple Rock Social ClubJuly 2                                                       Kansas City, MO                                        The Riot RoomJuly 3                                                           Denver, CO                                          Bluebird TheaterJuly 5                                                      Salt Lake City, UT                                        Urban LoungeJuly 8                                                         Vancouver, BC                                                     VENUEJuly 9                                                           Seattle, WA                                                       NeumosJuly 11                                                    San Francisco, CA                    Great American Music HallJuly 12                                                     Los Angeles, CA                                              TroubadourJuly 13                                                     Los Angeles, CA                                              TroubadourJuly 16                                                    Solana Beach, CA                                      Belly Up TavernJuly 17                                                         Phoenix, AZ                                The Crescent BallroomJuly 19                                                          Dallas, TX                                                             TreesJuly 20                                                          Austin, TX                                                    The ParishJuly 21                                                        Houston, TX                                                 Fitzgerald’sJuly 23                                                         Atlanta, GA                                                 MasqueradeJuly 24                                                         Raleigh, NC                                                           KingsJuly 25                                                    Washington, D.C.                                                9:30 ClubJuly 26                                                       New York, NY                                             Webster Hall

Trampled by Turtles' new video premieres (starring Har Mar Superstar)

TRAMPLED BY TURTLES’ “WILD ANIMALS” VIDEO PREMIERES AT AV CLUB
WILD ANIMALS  DUE FOR JULY 15 RELEASE ON THIRTY TIGERS
PERFORMING ON “THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN” ON RELEASE DAY
HEADLINING U.S. AND EUROPEAN FALL TOUR
BAND CURATES INAUGURAL FESTIVAL PALOMINO SEPTEMBER 20 IN MINNEAPOLIS    “Impressive!”—David Letterman“The set is so exciting…”—NPR Music“Trampled by Turtles mixes rhythmic banjos and guitars with lovelorn fiddles, creating a sound that seeps deeply into our pores and permeates our core until their riffs merge with our pulse.”—Washington Post
The video for the title track off Trampled by Turtles’ highly anticipated new album  Wild Animals  is premiering at AV Club . Of the video, which stars Har Mar Superstar, Ryan Young (fiddle/harmony vocals) says “‘Wild Animals’ is classic Trampled by Turtles at its core, but the talents of album producer Alan Sparhawk, engineer BJ Burton, video director Phil Harder and Har Mar Superstar helped create something unlike anything else we’ve done before. It will mean different things to different people, but hopefully it is as enjoyable to watch and listen as it was to make.”The new record, due July 15 via Thirty Tigers, is receiving early critical acclaim—the band will perform on “The Late Show With David Letterman” on release day and the video for “Are You Behind the Shining Star” recently premiered as an NPR Music “First Watch”: http://n.pr/1tENfGZ.Trampled by Turtles will tour the U.S. and Europe this fall including a sold out Red Rock Amphitheater stop and a flurry of festival appearances. Furthermore, the band is excited to reveal their first annual Festival Palominolaunching September 20 at Canterbury Park just outside of Minneapolis. The band is curating the entire festival—confirmed performers include The Head and the Heart, Low, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Field Report, Apache Relay and Erik Koskinen. See below for full routing details.Wild Animals was produced by Alan Sparhawk, the lead singer-songwriter of Low and recorded in the legendary Pachyderm Studio in Cannon Falls, MN (Nirvana, Andrew Bird, The Jayhawks). Of the music Dave Simonett (guitar, vocals) notes, “We all tried to come into this thing extremely open-minded. How can we sound new to ourselves? I feel like the sound has changed and is changing, especially from Palomino to now. A lot of our reputation from even just a couple years ago was that we were this fast band, which we can do, and we do that. But this record focused a little bit more on other aspects of our playing together.” Sparhawk adds of working with the band, “The sound that caught my ear was there from the beginning and stands to this day: I call it the ‘wall of strings.’ Taking instruments we have heard for generations, the Turtles dive in with post-punk energy and selflessness. Everyone has a part in the arrangement that leans on and enhances the others, always serving the song. The message is not about individuals—it’s about what can be done when people get together, apply their heart and soul, and make a little room for each other. Music has always had that potential, but it’s rare when it actually happens.”Wild Animals follows 2012’s Stars and Satellites which garnered widespread praise—the album debuted Top 30 on the Billboard chart and the band performed on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Conan,” “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and “A Prairie Home Companion.” Trampled by Turtles’ massive touring schedule have kept them busy since then with various sold out runs and prime slots at festivals including Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits Festival, Outside Lands, Sasquatch! Music Festival, Firefly Festival, Newport Folk Festival and many more.Formed in Duluth, MN in 2003, Trampled by Turtles is Simonett, Tim Saxhaug (bass, vocals), Dave Carroll (banjo, vocals), Erik Berry and Young. Within the contained music scene of Duluth, the members of the band did their own time in punk and rock bands brandishing their electricity proudly before switching to acoustic instruments. While they never set out to be a bluegrass band, Trampled by Turtles employs many of the same traditional techniques of the genre, but their differences in influences and attack make for their unique sound. After spending years refining their live show and building fans via word of mouth, they released their debut Palomino to little fanfare out of the gates. The story quickly built and eventually the record spent over a year straight on the Billboard Heatseakers Chart.

TOPS are a four-piece band from Montreal, equal parts girls and guys, delivering a raw punk take on AM studio pop. Change Of Heart / Sleeptalker is a 7" record featuring their lead single "Change Of Heart" backed with "Sleeptalker". Both songs are featured on their forthcoming record, Picture You Staring, which is a lush array of timelessly crafted songs.

Singer Jane Penny gives a new voice to the silent girl at the edge of the circle, disillusioned but honest and unpretentious, a tone complemented by David Carriere's seamless guitar playing and the measured drumming of Riley Fleck. TOPS' subtle arrangements are delivered with a cool restraint that blend with the individuality and self-assured desire of their female lead.
Change Of Heart / Sleeptalker gathers strength through intimacy. Self-written, recorded and produced at Arbutus Record's studio in Montreal, these are impeccable examples of pop craftsmanship that will reward repeat listens.

After having previously shared a music video for "Change of Heart", the band has now released an audio stream of B-side "Sleeptalker" which can be heard above. Speaking about the song, Jane Penny said:

"Sleeptalker is a deeply personal song for me. I wrote it at a time when I felt trapped by music. The song is about dark thoughts and the things people do to get through the night. I find solace in it now and I'm proud of the recording that we made. Please listen and enjoy! Love from Jane"
