PREVIOUSLY-UNHEARD SOUNDBOARD RECORDINGOF THE ORIGINAL STOOGES LINEUP'S FINAL PERFORMANCEAT GOOSE LAKE FESTIVAL

Third Man Records is excited to announce The Stooges' Live At Goose Lake: August 8, 1970. This previously-unheard, high-quality soundboard recording of the original Stooges lineup's final performance -- recorded just before the release of their earthshaking 1970 album Fun House -- will be available on vinyl, CD and digital on August 7, 2020, nearly 50 years to the day after the performance. Hear "T.V. Eye - Radio Edit" HERE, and pre-save the album HERE.

LISTEN TO "T.V. EYE - RADIO EDIT"
The apocryphal tale of the Stooges performance at the Goose Lake Festival has been told countless times  over  the  past  five  decades.  Bassist  Dave  Alexander,  due  to  nerves  or  overindulgence  or  whatever  you  choose  to  fill  in  the  blank,  absolutely  spaces  in  front  of  200,000  attendees.  He  does not play a single note on stage. He is summarily fired by Iggy Pop immediately following the gig. Here starts the beginning of the end of the Stooges.
But  what  if  that  simply... wasn’t  the  case?  What  if  you  could  prove  otherwise?  Well,  it’d  be  the  proto-punk equivalent of having an immediate, on-the-scene, man on the street report of all those folkies  booing  Dylan’s  electric  set  at  Newport  in  ‘65.  Irrefutable  evidence  of  what  ACTUALLY  went down.
Found buried in the basement of a Michigan farmhouse amongst other tasty analog artifacts of the same era, the 1/4” stereo two-track  tape  of  the  Stooges  complete  performance  at  Goose  Lake on August 8th, 1970 is the Rosetta Stone for fans of this seminal band.
Not only is this the last ever performance of the original godhead Stooges line-up, but it is the ONLY known soundboard recording of said line-up. Playing the entirety of their canonical 1970 masterpiece Fun House, the sound, the performance, everything about this record is revelatory.
Would you believe that... Alexander actually DID play bass on this occasion? Or that, despite grievous failures on some songs, Alexander is damn solid on others? Especially on the bass-led songs “Dirt” and “Fun House”? Does Iggy provoke the crowd to tear down festival barriers? Did the powers that be pull the plug on the Stooges? So many questions are answered only to have more arise.
Released to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the performance, Live at Goose Lake: August 8th 1970,  is  the  rare  release  that  literally  rewrites  the  history  of  these  Rock  and  Roll  Hall of Fame inductees.LIVE AT GOOSE LAKE: AUGUST 8TH, 1970 TRACK LISTSIDE A1. Travis Return With New Album 10 Songs (October 9th on BMG)

Travis Return With New Album 10 Songs (October 9th on BMG)
First Single “A Ghost” Comes With Video Created By Frontman Fran Healy And His Son In IsolationBeloved Socttish band Travis are back with the first new music from their stunning ninth studio album 10 Songs - out October 9th on BMG. The first single from 10 Songs is “A Ghost”, which arrives with an impressively animated video directed and drawn by frontman Fran Healy, with his 14 year old son Clay leading the beautiful cinematography work - all done whilst in Covid-19 isolation.
Watch The Video For “A Ghost” HERE
Co-produced by both Fran and Robin Baynton (Coldplay, Florence & The Machine), and recorded at RAK Studios as 2019 turned into 2020, 10 Songs is an album about the way life comes at love and what love does to weather those challenges. It’s grown-up. There’s sizzling synergy in abundance, and many of it’s songs benefit from the almost psychic sense of mutual attunement that comes from being in a band whose line-up hasn’t changed in its entire collective lifetime.
There’s also inspired cameos to be found, including synth work from Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle, lap steel from Greg Leisz (Beck, Emmylou Harris, Bruce Springsteen) and vocals from Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles that came about from a chance exchange on Twitter.
It’s been twenty-five years since the four members of Travis first set foot in a Glaswegian rehearsal room. At various points along the trajectory between then and now, the band have sold millions of albums, they’ve been the subject of the award-winning feature length documentary Almost Fashionable and Fran has elicited acclaim from Paul McCartney, Elton John and Graham Nash – all songwriters whose ability to divine a timeless melody out of thin air has sustained them through the decades.
And today marks another new chapter in the band’s extraordinarily prolific and unflappable career. 10 Songs is yet another body of work that showcases Travis as one of the UK’s finest songwriting exports.
Of the intensive work that went into making the video for “A Ghost”, Fran says: "The video for ‘A Ghost’ started out as a mocked up picture of me and three ghosts playing the last chorus of the song in a deserted alleyway. It looked cool so I took that image and back engineered a story out of it. Just when everything was ready to shoot, the world went into lockdown, so we had this great song with no way to make a video. Frustrated and in an act of desperation, I decided to draw it. I did a test to calculate how long it might take me. 16 hours for each, 10 seconds of footage. It worked out that it would take around 30 days which landed exactly on the deadline date. So I drew and drew and drew and drew. 2,500 drawings later, it was done.” He continues: “One day, I was watching a sequence back and when it got to the end of what I had drawn, it flashed and went into live action. It looked great. This was the moment I realised I could shoot the mock up picture of me playing with my band of ghosts in the alleyway. This helped in 3 ways. 1. Filming the last 47 seconds would save me 10 days of drawing. 2. I could recruit my 14 year old son, Clay as the cameraman. He has a drone camera so could shoot it remotely and could use it as part of his school video project 3. Most importantly, we could film it socially distant.  It was the most bizarre video shoot I have ever worked on. You realise how important proximity is to getting things done when it's taken out of the equation. But we did it and it turned out great. Clay has to wait till we release the song to hand in his video project."
Travis are Fran Healy (guitar/vox), Andy Dunlop (guitar), Dougie Payne (bass) and Neil Primrose (drums).

Maggot Heart (Linnéa Olsson ex-The Oath) share new track from upcoming album

Maggot Heart share new single from upcoming sophomore album Mercy Machine Berlin punk-metal trio led by guitarist/vocalist Linnéa Olsson (ex-The Oath, Beastmilk)

Hear & share "Justine" (Bandcamp) (CvltNation)
Best of 2018: Dusk To Dusk  -- Revolver Magazine
"They've got Joan Jett swagger and razor-sharp riffs that don't quit, and they blend grimy rock n roll with melancholic post-punk so naturally they've created their own genre."  -- CvltNation
"Similar to The Oath (or Ghost or Blue Oyster Cult) it has the spirit of darkness of metal, but really it's a catchy, swaggering rock song."  -- Brooklyn Vegan

Berlin based hard rock band Maggot Heart share a new track from their forthcoming sophomore album Mercy Machine today via CvltNation. Hear & share "Justine" alongside an informative interview with singer/guitarist Linnéa Olsson HERE. (Direct track link to BandcampSpotify and Apple Music.)
Brooklyn Vegan recently shared the title track HERE
Linnéa Olsson's Maggot Heart is back with their sophomore album, which will be released on Linnéa's brand new record label Rapid Eye Records. The Swedish guitarist and songwriter, based in Berlin since 2012, has made her band a much talked about force in the underground with their extensive touring (alongside Earthless and Voivod among others), cross-over hard rock sound, and punk ethos.
The city as a throbbing organism is one of the fundamental themes of Maggot Heart, explored in several songs on City Girls (2017) and Dusk to Dusk (2018). On Mercy Machine (2020), the machinery of night runs on the steam of many bodies. Locked inside a prison of flesh the spirit will not soar, only in unity with the body can divine alchemy be achieved. Mercy Machine is a rock album about sex, death and the pursuit of freedom.
This album was put together by Linnéa, long-time drumming partner Uno Bruniusson and bassist Olivia Airey (as well as on-and-off collaborator Gottfrid Åhman) at the end of 2019, and once again recorded in Stockholm, Sweden with award-winning producer Martin "Konie" Ehrencrona (Viagra Boys, In Solitude) in February 2020. It highlights Olsson's catchy, but strangely jarring songwriting in ten cutting tracks, swerving back and forth on the rock genre-spectrum. These songs contain a highly entertaining blend of urgency, bleakness and undeniable attitude which may or may not appeal to fans of Voivod, The Stooges and The Jesus Lizard.
The incredible cover artwork is by Kristian Valbo, known to metal fans as the drummer for Obliteration.
Mercy Machine will be available on LP and download on July 10th, 2020 via Rapid Eye Records. Pre-orders are available HERE

BI-WEEKLY LIVESTREAM PERFORMANCES
Photo credit: Kristal Jones“Evangeline Gentle’s voice communicates an aching warmth that comes with knowing hardness and choosing softness instead.”—CBC Music“Evangeline Gentle’s self-titled album is a triumph”—Exclaim! June 10, 2020 Scottish-Canadian singer-songwriter Evangeline Gentle is set to release their debut album,  Evangeline Gentle , on August 21 via Sonic Unyon. Pre-save the album HERE. The full-length LP follows the recent release of two a cappella singles and videos, “You and I” and “Black is the Colour,” both of which may be streamed and shared on multiple platforms HERE. In lieu of their recently cancelled spring and summer tour dates, Gentle has been performing live on Facebook and Instagram every other Thursday at 3PM Eastern; check out their streams HERE and HERE.Gentle began writing their self-titled album, produced by Jim Bryson, at the age of 19. Written during several important coming-of-age moments in Gentle’s life, the record focuses on openheartedness, finding the strength to be vulnerable and uplifting marginalized voices.Born in Scotland and raised in both Scotland and Canada, Gentle began writing music and performing at 14 years old. Recognizing their own queerness and gender fluidity, Gentle has long been passionate about both music and social justice.“During the three years I spent writing this LP, I trudged through periods of deep self-doubt, often wondering if I should give up,” Gentle says. “As a child I believed performing was my inevitable fate. Somewhere along the road to adulthood I internalized a lot of messaging about my queerness as something that made me inherently less gifted and valuable as an artist. Each song on this record is a landmark on the journey toward reestablishing my childlike ambition and spirit.”Gentle shares the meaning behind their recently released a cappella singles, saying, “‘You And I’ is the preludial a cappella opening song of my live show, and its message seeks to unite audiences with a sense of sameness. I believe that our deepest connections are found through vulnerability, which is why I feel compelled to sing this track completely unaccompanied.”Of “Black is the Colour,” a traditional Scottish folk song Gentle first learned as a child, they share, “Despite moving to Canada at age 11, my love for Celtic folk music persists and performing this song feels like sharing another bit of who I am.”At just 23 years old, Gentle has already earned ample praise for their burgeoning career. They won the Emerging Artist Award at the 2015 Peterborough Folk Fest, were named Best Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2015 Wire Awards and have shared the stage with artists including Basia Bulat, Craig Cardiff, Matt Andersen, Terra Lightfoot, Sam Weber and more. Nicolas Bougaïeff Shares New Track "Nexus"; New Album Out July 24

NICOLAS BOUGAÏEFF

SHARES NEW TRACK
“NEXUS”

NEW ALBUM
THE UPWARD SPIRAL
OUT JULY 24

credit: Mischa Fanghaenel Nicolas Bougaïeff today shares “Nexus”, the latest track to be taken from his forthcoming album,  The Upward Spiral , which is out July 24 on digital and limited double blue vinyl formats. Listen to the creeping mutation of “Nexus” – where gabber, IDM and drum ‘n’ bass collide – here.

Pre-order The Upward Spiral here.

The track is described by the Berlin-based producer and artist as “a crossroads from the old world to the new world…” He goes to explain that it’s a crossroad from the meaningless to the meaningful and from the personal to the collective, and that “the meaning I’m looking for is optimism and commitment and collaboration”.

MORE ON NICOLAS BOUGAÏEFF
On his new album, Bougaïeff reframes familiar tropes for his own mind-expanding vision of body music. Punishing industrial techno charges the album at surface level with beautiful-meets-bleak energy. But peel back the layers of brash ferocity and there’s a hell of a lot more going on than first meets the ear. The culmination of years of hard work, Bougaïeff grew the album from the seeds of a bespoke composition technique; a carefully thought-out studio experiment in how to bend a love of techno into innovative new shapes.

Across nine metallic misadventures, which Bougaïeff describes as “little open scores”, he blitzes drum patterns and sharp synthwork into a satisfyingly effective blend. Intricate rhythmic structures lurk beneath the “strawberry jam” of the surface aesthetics. This rhythmic illusion seeps into every crevice of a record that brings a slice of academia to the rave.

The new album continues Bougaïeff’s decades-long love of club music, a love that has compelled him to challenge conventional wisdom, delivering genre-busting Berghain sets that expertly blend French-Canadian hip-hop with Tchaikovsky, moody techno and ambient. Previous releases include the  Cognitive Resonance  EP that relaunched the NovaMute imprint in 2017.

GLEN HANSARD SHARES VIDEO FOR “COLD COMFORT”, A SONG WRITTEN FOR AND ABOUT LIFE IN LOCKDOWN

GLEN HANSARD SHARES VIDEO FOR
COLD COMFORT”,
A SONG WRITTEN FOR AND ABOUT LIFE IN LOCKDOWN

WATCH NEW VIDEO FOR “GOOD LIFE OF SONG
FEAT. FOOTAGE FROM ‘THE CAMINO VOYAGE’ + DEDICATED TO
DANNY SHEEHY

“All a song wants is to be heard. I hope something in this music can be of use
to you. I know it has been of great use to me to make it. Beauty is in the ear of the behearer.” – Glen Hansard

Glen Hansard, along with most of the world, has been in quarantine and attempting to make sense of everything. Hansard’s creation of art thru the act of storytelling has been growing in these moments and he recently recorded the new song “Cold Comfort”. He also created a video for the song at home and has shared it with the hope it would bring exactly what its title implies. Watch it HERE. "(it’s) a handmade video for a homemade song written for the time that's in it," Hansard said.

In 2016, Hansard embarked on a life-changing journey as he stepped in to join a team and be the 4th oarsman in a small hand-built wooden boat called a curragh. The experience, as they rowed their way across the north coast of Spain following the Camino trail, was chronicled in the documentary film The Camino Voyage - released in 2018. One of the men on the boat, Irish writer and poet Danny Sheehy, tragically passed away three years ago today after the curragh capsized off the Iberian coast.

In Danny’s honor, Hansard has released a new video for “Good Life of Song”, a track from his latest release This Wild Willing, with footage from The Camino Voyage, dedicated to Sheehy and his memory.

“I wrote this song in Paris while in residence at the Irish Cultural Centre,” Hansard explained. “It’s a tribute to the life of bards and troubadours on their lifelong march through the towns and villages of the world, singing and drinking, expressing the sorrows and the joys of the age as they court darkness and light with equal knowing. A song of gratitude for the gift of singing. I raise it here to the memory of our boat captain Danny Sheehy.”

While currently isolating at home, Glen has also been engaging directly with his fans via a series of conversations on Instagram. He has hosted discussions on songwriting, shared stories and songs on his birthday and led fireside-like chats with painter Colin Davidson, environmentalist and founder of We Are the Ark movement Mary Reynolds, and Irish Woodland Trust conservationist Andrew St. Ledger. The hope is these discussions help break up the news of the day, but also inspire and create awareness and action; all can be seen HERE.

Hansard released his latest album This Wild Willing in April of 2019. The album garnered the best reviews of his 20+ year career with VICE calling it a “reinvention”, MOJO deeming it “an immersive, deeply satisfying work” and NPR Music saying, “These songs feel rawer, broader, more sweeping and emotional and expansive”. Hansard also recently sat down with the Broken Record Podcast, hosted by the producer Rick Rubin, the writer Malcolm Gladwell and the former New York Times editor Bruce Headlam to discuss This Wild Willing and its inspirations. You can listen to their conversation HERE.

Black Pumas, the Grammy-nominated duo of vocalist Eric Burton and guitarist Adrian Quesada, release their cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” today. The band’s powerful performance of the track became a fan favorite at their live shows, and its poignant lyrics about dreaming of a better life take on a personal resonance for Burton, who traveled the country as a street performer before forming Black Pumas. “To me, ‘Fast Car’ is a song of hope, dreams and a relentless heart to go somewhere and be someone,” says Burton. “I learned the song when I first began to busk and of the covers that I knew, it garnered the most attention from the random passerby. As a musician and artist, I’m attracted to songs that make us reflect on our daily struggles for making life worth living for.” Listen to Black Pumas’ stunning cover of “Fast Car” HERE.
“Fast Car”’s release today comes alongside a B-side of a brand new mix of their single “Fire” that’s currently shooting up the radio charts. Listen to “Fire (Steady Groovin Mix)” HERE.

Samantha Crain: LP 'A Small Death' out July 17, debuts new video "Pastime"

SAMANTHA CRAIN DEBUTS NEW SINGLE + VIDEO “PASTIME”A SMALL DEATH OUT JULY 17 ON RAMSEUR RECORDS/THIRTY TIGERS + REAL KIND RECORDS/COMMUNION RECORDS

complicated relationships that we sometimes push way down” "...evocative imagery and impassioned, hushed vocals.""...her powerful vocals and eclectic sounds have continued to defy expectations."
“an emotionally-charged, richly-textured record, underpinned by Samantha’s poetic way with words and expressive means of delivering them”
June 9, 2020—Choctaw-American musician and songwriter Samantha Crain debuts new song “Pastime;” listen/share HERE and watch the video HERE. The track is from her forthcoming album,  A Small Death , out July 17 via Ramseur Records/Thirty Tigers and Real Kind Records/Communion Records. The video was direct by Crain herself, who explains “The video was meant to be a celebration of the community of the town I live in, Norman, Oklahoma, as well as a nod to the capture of improvisation. Spontaneity is often forgotten as a great tool and teller of stories and I wanted to have a day of filming the wonderful people in my community remembering and exercising the flustering and freeing practice of ‘just winging it.’”

NPR Music’s World Café READ HEREBillboardREAD HERE
Album artworkA Small Death is the first release and artist signing for Real Kind Records, a new record label founded by UK-based musician Lucy Rose. “Samantha Crain is one of the most talented, genuinely inspired artists I've ever come across and to work with her is truly an honour,” Rose says of signing and working with Crain, “...[A Small Death is] such a profound and intelligent album, musically and lyrically. She's poured every inch of herself into her music, into these songs.”The new record finds the Oklahoma-based artist confronting decades of grief, trauma, and an incapacitating physical pain which left the singer home in bed and barely able to perform or play an instrument. “I didn’t completely die, but I feel like I died a little bit and that allowed me this new beginning,” Crain explains, “What I was trying to capture with this record, really, was a sense of reconstruction.” A Small Death is the sixth studio LP from Crain, following the release of 2017’s You Had Me At Goodbye. She won two NAMMYs (Native American Music Awards) in 2009, the Indigenous Music Award for Best Rock Album in 2019, and has toured with a range of artists including The Avett Brothers, Neutral Milk Hotel, Brandi Carlile, The Mountain Goats, Josh Ritter, First Aid Kit, Deer Tick and more.

Golf Alpha Bravo is Los Angeles-based Australian singer and guitarist Gab Winterfield (Jagwar Ma). He just shared a new video for single “Comet Loop,” from his debut album The Sundog LP, due this Friday, June 12 via his own Treasured Recordings label. The video was directed by Joseph Bird, Jr (Connan Mockasin) and filmed in the mountains and ravines of Hollywood, CA. Gab notes, “wearing a tinhat was a reference to the 2000 movie Signs, which I’ve rewatched during quarantine.” Watch the “Comet Loop” video HERE and stream the song HERE
Watch & Share “Comet Loop” GOLF ALPHA BRAVO - COMET LOOP The Sundog LP features 11-tracks filled with his is a unique brand of Surf Blues--a siren to a childhood of growing up on the coast of Sydney Australia: an eternal loop of surf, skate, Frusciante and Hendrix… and the occasional Mario Kart tournament. “The record moves between looking inward and outward, desire and respite,” notes Gab. “I wanted to make something warm that grooves, something that's deep enough to sink into, and bouncy enough to bop to. An epic journey from the comfort of your lounge, or the soundtrack to a long summer drive.” The Sundog LP will be available digitally HERE & HERE and via limited edition signed, hand pressed 12" vinyl featuring marble-trans blue vinyl HERE.
Golf Alpha Bravo has released several earlier singles that showcased his versatility, including “Stuck Being Me” that was accompanied by the Pooneh Ghana-directed video shot on Super 8 film; the very vibey “Unwind,” more bouncy “Groove Baby Groove” and defiant “Blue Wave,” earning him major support tours in Australia. The songs will all be featured on The Sundog LP--a title that is a play on the avant-garde musician Moondog and a reference to a weather illusion involving the sun of the same name.
Gab began his career at 16, signing his first record deal and cutting his first LP with Universal/Modular. He would then graduate high school, and move on to form Jagwar Ma as lead singer and guitarist, which would open the world to Gab—touring alongside fellow Aussie’s Tame Impala, Foals and noteworthy performances at Coachella and Glastonbury. In his final form, Golf Alpha Bravo uncovers a new authenticity.
He realized in a dream what his next logical step was: to hear the ocean in a seashell… A call of the wild, a return to the primal in a sun bleached haze, delving deep into the psyche of the sand and the stars. Golf Alpha Bravo is a primal, beatnik groove for a modern age desirous for escape back to the realness: a new sound to bellow the campfire in all our hearts and magnify the stars in our minds.
Stripped of any embellishment, Golf Alpha Bravo presents live as a power trio. Gab sings and plays guitar accompanied with bass and live drums. Clean reverb guitar tones, mid- and up-tempo grooves & melodic bass lines pull together to create a cool colored collage, reviving the essence of groove from our collective stone age.Golf Alpha Bravo - ‘The Sundog LP’ Cover Art
