GTD Times: More confidence, more ideas and more money...

A GTD'er in the U.K. wrote to David Allen recently to share his success--personally and professionally--in implementing GTD.  We thought you'd appreciate hearing what he learned in the process.
Dear David,

Just wanted to drop an email of appreciation. Guess you get these all the time.

In 2006, a freelance website designer friend recommend your book to me.  I bought it and read the first few pages before putting it down and involving myself in other books I was focusing on at that time.  In 200

Member Exclusive: Repost - Is There Such A Thing As An Item That Has To Be Done To Get It Off Your Min

The coaches recommended I repost this to the connect forums so they could take a crack at it. So Here you go:

I felt so free after I got a ton of house cleaning done over last weekend and this week. All of the next actions have been in my system for some time but these have been obviously riding ...

Member Exclusive: Toodledo - Does It Synch With Outlook And The Addin?

I'm contemplating using an iTouch with Toodledo as my Next Actions list manager. My phone uses Windows Mobile and it's hopeless as a list manager - I'm fed up with not being able to check my Next Actions on my mobile so I'm looking for options. An iPhone isn't an option for a number of reasons so it...

GTD Times: New release of the GTD Outlook Add-In

Years ago, David Allen worked with software design firm Netcentrics to create a GTD solution for Outlook users.  In fact, it's one of the few applications (Eric Mack's eProductivity product is another) that has David's fingerprints on the look, feel and functionality.  Although you can customize Outlook to be more useful via the GTD & Outlook whitepaper, the Netcentrics GTD Outlook Add-In automated many of the customizations we suggest in that paper and adds a few key things that only the Add-In

Member Exclusive: I've Gone To A Seminar, Now What Do I Tell My Spouse?

I've been doing psuedo GTD for a couple of years, but finally started what I call real GTD (e.g. doing the weekly review) after I attended a GTD seminar a little over a month ago (thanks again Danny). I first brought what I learned to my work life because that's what seemed more out of control. No...

GTD Times: Tracking Projects in Outlook

A Microsoft Outlook user recently asked one of our coaches:
After working with the GTD system for quite awhile, I find tracking next actions in Outlook to be pretty easy.  The harder part is tracking projects.  Where do you do that and how do you move from the 10,000 level (projects) to the runway (actions)?

Coach Wayne Pepper replied:

I keep my Projects list in Outlook Tasks.  I simply create a category in Tasks labeled "Projects".  <!--more-->Then, whenever I process a thought, an email, a piece of pape

Member Exclusive: Lost In The Cloud

Interesting Op-Ed piece in yesterday's NY Times, called "Lost in the Cloud." It's brief, but it raises some big questions about how applications for cloud computing are developed and made available to consumers. If you are managing your GTD lists in the cloud, or considering that option, you'll fi...
